This is our sweet kitty, Hershey Kisses. I named her that because she loves to give kitty kisses and when I first found her she was the color of white chocolate. This photo was snapped on a whim, just as she was waking up from one of her many naps. —-—- Hershey has been entered into The Humane Society of the United States’ Spay Day USA Pet Photo Contest. Please vote for me! —-—- Ever since I was a child, animals have been my passion. My one real dream in life is to someday open my own animal sanctuary. As it is now, I only wish my home were as big as my heart. When I’m not caring for strays I’m working on designs for various animal rights issues. This photo is one example of something I have used on several products, including stamps, with the text “Save a life… adopt!” to promote pet adoption. Animals and their welfare are something I take very seriously; and in the past people have said it’s my religion. I can’t argue with that. / / —-—- / / _If you care about animals the way I do, please check out our new group Voices for Animals —-—- Cards – Best of the Best Category: Pets

Shelter cat waiting for adoption. This cat has already been adopted to a nice home.
A lovely scene on my couch. The white cat (brutus) nearly died of boredom. That’s when this little rascal (caesar) was dumped near our house. They somehow became close and to cut a long story short: THEY LIVED LONG AND HAPPILY everafter. Op het moment dat de oude bijna stierf van verveling (echt waar) kwam de kleine bij ons terecht en zoals je ziet perfect samen.
Another one of my local shelters abandonies….. / This beautiful little torti-calico sweetie had her soul showing in her eyes. / She was luckily adopted with-in a week after this photo was taken. Sadly…......so many don’t get adopted. My cat that I have was adopted when he was 7 years old…and had been at the shelter for 2 years already. A note to people wanting to get rid of their animals? People don’t WANT to adopt adult animals…they don’t WANT responsibilities towards needy animals….they don’t WANT an animal that will only have a couple years left to live. / Keep your pet if you can…or help find it a HOME! Don’t abandon it…don’t foist it off on organizations that are already overwhelmed with adult animals. / and PLEASE PLEASE??? SPAY AND NEUTURE!! (u’r animals…as well as…....um….....)
I think this is an important message if anyone is considering getting a cat (or any animal)...So many cats are being brought into shelters everyday, thousands a year are unwanted and one third or more do not make it! / PLEASE it is very important to get your animal spayed or neutered to cut down on the loss of so many…if the shelters can’t take anymore cats in, some people even abandon and leave their cats on the street to fend for themselves. *All proceeds of sales are donated to the Hope Animal Shelter
On Tuesday December 23rd 2008, my son Kevin came home for the Christmas holidays, taking the commuter train from downtown Montreal to our home here on the North Shore. Upon disembarking, he heard loud mewing, followed the source to a snowbank and found this pitiful baby bundle outside in -14 C degrees temperature. Since it was very close to someone’s front door, he knocked, but the woman who answered said she had a dog and was allergic to cats. He tried a few other houses in the vicinity but to no avail and so brought this little lost kitty home to us. Later in the day he canvassed the neighborhood but without any success, no one wanted to claim this little orphan. It is a mystery since this small cat appeared to be about 6 weeks old, had no frozen extremeties, did not appear to be starved and other than being scared and hungry at the time seemed to be in perfect health. / So we have welcomed kitty into our home and named him Frankie after Old Blues himself! This photo was taken a few minutes after my son brought him home. / To see how Frankie is doing now Baby’s Got Blue Eyes Feautred in Kittens, April 2009 / RB popular art January 2009

Cool Lion is a real name of this kitten which stole my heart forever. This picture is not for sale. I simply want to share this moment with everyone who loves animals. / We all must remember that animals are as alive as people. They need home, family, love and care. You can´t buy a friend, but you can adopt one! Cam: Fujifilm FinePix S5600
Charlie loves to pancake himself on our laps. He didn’t necessarily like the flash…but he survived :D We got Charlie about 8 years ago now. He was in a cage for over 6 months waiting to be adopted. He was about 3 when we got him. Say hello to little 4 month old kitten “Salmi”. She is a gentle, sweet little feline soul who is just been adopted a few days ago by my friends Diane and Bill. She was adopted from the Coquitlam Animal Shelter, Coquitlam, B.C. and now lives in a beautiful big house high on a hill, in West Vancouver, overlooking downtown Vancouver. I think if Salmi could talk she would say that no household should be without a kitten or two or three! Salmi was brought to Coquitlam Animal Shelter from Salmon Arm, B.C., thus the name “Salmi”. It suits her and she answers to it already! / THIS IS SALMI’S NEW MOM…MY FRIEND DIANE! / Taken with: Nikon D60 -Lens: Nikkor 18-55mm
October 29 is National Cat Day, a holiday to celebrate cats for their unconditional love and companionship, and to welcome those in need into our lives through animal rescue. More cats than dogs are euthanized every year, mostly because they usually arrive at shelters without any owner identification. The Animal Miracle Network estimates that approximately 4 million cats enter shelters every year, and 1 to 2 million of them are euthanized. The primary goal of National Cat Day is to facilitate 10,000 incremental adoptions of shelter cats nationwide on October 29. This will be the first year that the Animal Miracle Network attempts to track the numbers for cats, but similar National Dog Day initiatives in the past have exceeded the goal by more than 12,000 dogs. National Cat Day founder Colleen Paige explains, “We put a lot of manpower into communicating with our affiliate event promoters and shelters around the country that signed up to participate. We’ll only take credit for the numbers we directly receive from our adoption sources.” You can still help homeless cats on National Cat Day if you’re unable to take on another pet. Visit a local animal shelter and offer to volunteer by cleaning cages or playing with the cats. You could also host your own event such as a bake sale and donate the proceeds to a shelter in honor of National Cat Day. If you’re already a proud cat owner, take some time on National Cat Day to show your pet how much you appreciate her. Paige recommends spoiling her with treats or a new litter box, or simply showing her some love. “In this difficult economy, if all you can afford is time, spend some of it with your furry feline,” recommends Paige. “That’s more important to them then all the catnip in the world.” If you’re looking to give a homeless cat a loving home, visit our pet search tool to meet your new best friend. With pet adoption, you’ll find that National Cat Day will be the first of countless great ones to come. Colleen Paige is the Editor-in-Chief of Pet Home magazine. Visit National Cat Day and Colleen Paige for more information. Proceeds from sales will be donated to pet welfare. Model: My rescue, the fab,”Binky” Canon
this little guy and his siblings have no mommy or home. they are at the local humane association waiting for some kind human to give them both.
Charlie (top with white) and Freddie (bottom orange tabby) have been so close the second we brought home Charlie. Charlie was adopted from a shelter. He was in a cage for 6 months prior to being adopted and when we first brought him home he was afraid to jump. Even after 9 years he still hesitates when he jumps, except when playing with Freddie or chasing our pugs.
