  • CATCHING SNOWFLAKES
    by mlynnd

    US$4.16–US$95.00

Harley was catching snowflakes on his tongue today. If you look closely, you can see some on his tongue. Harley is now eight years old. We adopted him when he was six years old. He is a golden retriever/australian sheperd mix, with some chow. When we see Harley being lighthearted like this, we can see the dog he was meant to be. Harley does have some bagged from when he was in a shelter all those years, but who cares - WE LOVE HIM for who he is, inspite of past hangups! WE WORK THROUGH BAGGAGE! This image has been a Group Avatar and Challenge winner. Also, place twice in the Top Ten in two challenges. Been featured twice also. Catching Snowflakes is featured in Happy Haven today 12/08/08. Thank you so much. Catching Snowflakes won the Tongues Challenge for Man’s Best Friend group, today 12/17/08. Catching Snowflakes placed in the top ten of the Most Heartwarming Rescue Story Challenge for the Rescued Pet group, today 12/20/08 Catching Snowflakes is featured in TPW, today 12/27/08. Thank you. Catching Snowflakes placed in the Top Ten of the Your Pets Making Silly Faces challenge. Playful Photogenic Pets group – 03/13/09

  • Lost & Found
    by Joanne Bradley

    US$4.32–US$98.80

On Tuesday December 23rd 2008, my son Kevin came home for the Christmas holidays, taking the commuter train from downtown Montreal to our home here on the North Shore. Upon disembarking, he heard loud mewing, followed the source to a snowbank and found this pitiful baby bundle outside in -14 C degrees temperature. Since it was very close to someone’s front door, he knocked, but the woman who answered said she had a dog and was allergic to cats. He tried a few other houses in the vicinity but to no avail and so brought this little lost kitty home to us. Later in the day he canvassed the neighborhood but without any success, no one wanted to claim this little orphan. It is a mystery since this small cat appeared to be about 6 weeks old, had no frozen extremeties, did not appear to be starved and other than being scared and hungry at the time seemed to be in perfect health. / So we have welcomed kitty into our home and named him Frankie after Old Blues himself! This photo was taken a few minutes after my son brought him home. / To see how Frankie is doing now Baby’s Got Blue Eyes Feautred in Kittens, April 2009 / RB popular art January 2009

My dog sitting in the sun a few weeks ago… / Saved her from the pound here in Oklahoma back in October of 2008. We got her as a tiny puppy. The next day we took her to the vet and found out she had parvo. 14 days in the vet and almost $2000 later she’s fine and ours … goodness… She’s half black lab and half Bassett hound. Her name is Siren due to the fact that I couldn’t ignore her call when I saw her at the pound.. Nikon D80

    US$3.99–US$91.20

This photo was taken at the Animal Welfare League in Wingfield, South Australia. No photoshop was used other than to alter the colours a bit. The puppy’s smile, although blurred due to depth of field (i was using a 50mm f/1.4 at 1.4 focussing only on her eyes) was real! This puppy was adopted shortly after.

Most female dogs have their first estrous cycle between 6 and 12 months, although some larger breeds delay until as late as 2 years. Females experience estrous cycles biannually, during which her body prepares for pregnancy, and at the peak she will come into estrus, during which time she will be mentally and physically receptive to copulation.( wikipedia.org)

  • Love Kitty
    by Crockpot

    US$3.99

This is our sweet kitty, Hershey Kisses. I named her that because she loves to give kitty kisses and when I first found her she was the color of white chocolate. This photo was snapped on a whim, just as she was waking up from one of her many naps. —-—- Hershey has been entered into The Humane Society of the United States’ Spay Day USA Pet Photo Contest. Please vote for me! —-—- Ever since I was a child, animals have been my passion. My one real dream in life is to someday open my own animal sanctuary. As it is now, I only wish my home were as big as my heart. When I’m not caring for strays I’m working on designs for various animal rights issues. This photo is one example of something I have used on several products, including stamps, with the text “Save a life… adopt!” to promote pet adoption. Animals and their welfare are something I take very seriously; and in the past people have said it’s my religion. I can’t argue with that. / / —-—- / / _If you care about animals the way I do, please check out our new group Voices for Animals —-—- Cards – Best of the Best Category: Pets

This is our dog Harley. On Nov. 20th Kay and I will have him in our lives two years. We adopted him when he was six years old. He is a golden retriever/australian shepherd, with some chow in him. He had lived in a shelter most of his life. Before we got him, he only had a home for a year and four months. As soon as we seen him, we knew he belonged with us. He is such a sweet, loving guy. He has my heart and soul forever.

  • Adopt A Cat
    by macabrecat

    US$4.32–US$98.80

I think this is an important message if anyone is considering getting a cat (or any animal)...So many cats are being brought into shelters everyday, thousands a year are unwanted and one third or more do not make it! / PLEASE it is very important to get your animal spayed or neutered to cut down on the loss of so many…if the shelters can’t take anymore cats in, some people even abandon and leave their cats on the street to fend for themselves. *All proceeds of sales are donated to the Hope Animal Shelter
