POOR LITTLE KITTEN….UNDERNOURISHED AND SO / SAD…THAT WAS TEN YEARS AGO….HE IS MY DARLING….A VERY SWEET BOY… / SINCE THAT DAY … I HAVE RESCUED SEVEN OTHER CATS..AND ONE OF THEM GAVE BIRTH TO FOUR BEAUTIFUL KITTENS WHO ARE NOW TWO YEARS OLD…...AND FIFI ADOPTED US…WHEN WE MOVED TO OUR HOUSE SHE WAS WAITING OUTSIDE …SHE WON’T COME IN BUT ALLOWS US TO FEED HER AND PET HER….

This is our sweet kitty, Hershey Kisses. I named her that because she loves to give kitty kisses and when I first found her she was the color of white chocolate. This photo was snapped on a whim, just as she was waking up from one of her many naps. —-—- Hershey has been entered into The Humane Society of the United States’ Spay Day USA Pet Photo Contest. Please vote for me! —-—- Ever since I was a child, animals have been my passion. My one real dream in life is to someday open my own animal sanctuary. As it is now, I only wish my home were as big as my heart. When I’m not caring for strays I’m working on designs for various animal rights issues. This photo is one example of something I have used on several products, including stamps, with the text “Save a life… adopt!” to promote pet adoption. Animals and their welfare are something I take very seriously; and in the past people have said it’s my religion. A beautiful tabby long hair…named samantha….....another of my local Humane Society’s babies. She was dumped off in a box and malnureshed when we found her…she’s since been adopted by one of our local police officers and now has the run of a happy household. Not all our babies find homes that are good or even FIND one at ALL. We had one gorgeous animal that ended up being allergic to some of the med’s we had to use to cure him of his sickness. He didn’t make it. So it’s always nice to know when we have a good ending.

I was once a tiny baby, / a cuddly furry bundle of joy. / They took me from my mother / and gave me to a little boy. I cried a lot for my mother / and missed my whole family. / But the boy was so glad to / take the time to hold and hug me. I finally grew to love them / the people who were my new family. / Though I often dreamed of mama / and wondered if she thought of me. Time passed and I grew up / and the boy stopped playing with me. / Oh, I think he still loved me, / but now he was a teen. I now lived in a doghouse in the back / because no one had time for me. / Where once I curled up at the foot of his bed / now his skateboard replaced me. I’d find a dish of food by my door / but the boy I now saw rarely. / And I could watch from within my fence / they had put up to separate them from me. They built a pool and I would watch them play / and I’d bark to tell them to play with me. / That only seemed to make it worse / because my barking made them angry. Then the boat arrived and I was left alone / every weekend when they all went boating. / I slept a lot and dreamed of mama / and wondered if she ever thought of me. One day they came with a stranger / who put a chain on me. / They turned their backs and did not watch / as the big man dragged me away. So here I am behind these bars / not knowing what will become of me. / I don’t know what I did to be put in jail / but I keep hoping someone will come and help me. amari ________ I have seen it happen far too often, people see a cute little puppy or kitten, baby iguana or other little cutie-pie that catches their eye and their fancy for the moment. Without considering the future needs and responsibilities of caring for these adorable little beings, the person “purchases” the “merchandise” and then proceeds to step two of the “owning” process. The little toy is fun for awhile until life and stuff gets in the way, then the little one grows up and requires more room, food, care, medical treatment and attention, so as with any other “toy” it now becomes a discard. The person then proceeds to ask friends if they will take it off their hands. When that fails they take it out and dump it or call the pound and unload it. They think no more about it because it was only just another thing to them. They never considered it has feelings and loves and hurts and often dies of loneliness once having been abandoned by the only person they ever loved. Once the reject is in the pound, it only has a certain amount of time to be adopted before it has to be “disposed” of to make room for more rejects. Then there are the ones the owners keep and selectively proceed to abuse in so many unimaginable ways that a normal mind cannot even fathom. Sometimes these poor things are “rescued” and taken to the “humane” society where they have a short time to be adopted. It breaks my heart. There are some people who truly do provide rescue and real adoption and long-term rehabilition for these poor babies and these are real heros. I think it’s important to remember that whilst It’s good to celebrate living in Australia with all our diversities and cultures and freedom it’s just as important to acknowledge the ways in which we could change and grow. Saying “sorry” to the original Indigenous inhabitants of this country is the first of many important steps that must be taken in order for the healing of past and present wrongs to take place….when this is done we will truly be able to move forward and celebrate Australia day for all.

A lovely scene on my couch. The white cat (brutus) nearly died of boredom. That’s when this little rascal (caesar) was dumped near our house. They somehow became close and to cut a long story short: THEY LIVED LONG AND HAPPILY everafter. Op het moment dat de oude bijna stierf van verveling (echt waar) kwam de kleine bij ons terecht en zoals je ziet perfect samen.

“Well I went to the Vets today and the results were good for Blue..but he said I needed putting to sleep…LMAO! / I registered Blue with the PDSA,and if you could have seen the state I got into attempting to get Blue into the cat Box…I was in a right mucking fuddle.He was trapped in the kitchen with me,and I thought I am going to be mauled to death here.Legs straddling the box….both me and Blue,he picked up the doormat with his claws,and even though he was almost in,I had to let him go because he and the mat wouldn’t have fitted…it was hilarious! / He grumbled and growled,but eventually I managed to do it..I was sweating like a pig.Never have I had to do this before,and it was obviously picked up by Blue,(I never got one scratch,he kept his claws away from me..such a blessed little soul. / We drove the vets,and every now and then, Blue gave such pitiful meows..my heart was breaking..! / What was I doing to this little thing I asked myself,but I had to be strong..I wanted to know if he was ok,and if this is what I had to do,so be it. / Awaiting our turn in the surgery,the place was packed out and Blue was the only Puss amongst loads of dogs,large small and teeny tiny pups.! / The vet opened the cage,and had to tip it upside down to get Blue out,I couldn’t believe it…the fight I had to get him in and now he didn’t want to come out…lol! / He looked at his eyes,and checked his teeth,felt his tummy and took his temperature,and Blue never murmered throughout the ordeal at all. / He gave Blue a relatively thorough health check and antibiotic jab,and said if it got worse I was to take him back in a couple of days,but he seems fine he said. / I was pleased I had taken him,and felt the weight come off my shoulders instantly. / I though to myself…”Oh my God…gotta get him back into the frigging Box now”!,and imagined all sorts of shennigans,with Blue ducking and diving as he had in my kitchen,,,not Blueboy,he crawled back into the box like a pussy cat…Oh Yes..he IS a PUSSY CAT aint he?LMAO. / When we got home I expected him to do a runner,but he went to his dish and started feeding his face..none the worse for his experience thank God. / I feel so much happier now,and all I can say is fingers crossed for his future with his New Family,who cared enough to get him sorted,not like the creatures who owned him before we did..! / Thanks for the advice everyone..I am one happy soul now,but I can’t find Blue at the moment..hope he hasn’t taken offence,,,I only have one fence…!!Apologies people,as you can see I am crackers today,but so relieved! / (SIGH).

As you probably know,we have a visiting cat who is here with us a majority of the time. / When we went away,I informed the owner we would be away for 2 weeks and to make sure that Blue was fed and watered,but left food with my neighbour just in case! / On our return home,I noticed Blue had lost weight and his eyes were dull,and the third eyelid was visible and didn’t retract and it looked awful. / Told the owners Mother (my so called friend) to tell her daughter about the problem.This was a month ago,and nothing has been done…I suspect my friend didn’t pass on the message.Blue is a lot better now,but that 3rd eyelid is still obvious especially when you tickle under his chin…awww! / As I have reported the owners to the RSPCA before,I am loathe to do this again,but I can’t take the animal to the vet’s because he isn’t our cat! / I know the third eyelid could be due to weight loss and lots of other thing as well..any ideas on how I can deal with poor Blue,without alienating the owner yet again. / Should I make out the cat is mine and take him anyway..?
