I can sense the rhythm humming / In a frenzy / All the way down her spine Ring a bell? For those who find these lines strangely familiar, I bet you’d remember the film clip. Who amongst us can’t recall the spectacular “Girls On Film”, hypnotising to my pre-teen self and many of my age group, and still guaranteed to raise a smile at parties…and maybe more than a smile ;) I saw Duran Duran live last night. For those of you asking ‘who?”, please leave the room immediately, and shut the door behind you – I don’t need any smart comments saying they weren’t even born. The 80s were famous for many things – lurid colours, the birth of Goth, fingerless lace gloves, Michael Jackson looking human – but mostly for tacky as hell pop music. And nothing else will get me on the dance floor. I remembered all the lyrics. I remembered copying the hilarious New Romantic dancing, watching their yacht-hopping playboy filmclips on “Countdown”…but most of all, I remembered John Taylor. Their bass player was the first man to ever make make my inner strumpet sit up, and take notice. I swooned over the others – and personally, despite his spectacularly daggy dancing last night, I would still leave room for Simon le Bon – but John Taylor…..oh my lord…..for an 11-year-old, it was a startling awakening. I recall watching him in the “Hungry Like The Wolf” filmclip, bare-chested as he ran through a Sri Lankan marketplace, panting and sweaty, and thinking….hang on…what’s happening to me?! And the child in me started packing up her place at my table, exiting with a wink and a sly “you won’t be needing ME anymore” over her shoulder. You don’t forget that. You don’t forget the freedom and exhilaration that comes from dancing to your favourite band as you straddle the line between child and adult, blissfully unaware that you have to crawl through adolescence to get there, before Duran Duran and Culture Club gave way to The Exploited and Pantera, before wide eyes gave way to a furious scowl. Unfortunately, you also don’t forget the image of Duran Duran in matching shiny suits, standing behind a bank of keyboards like they were channelling Devo, or the sight of their back up singer in a vintage 80s dress made of silver foil, or the choreography that hasn’t changed since then – and really should have. Or looking around at the crowd and having your friend murmur “you realise this is our peer group?” But I don’t think I want to. Now, if anyone hears that Spandau Ballet are touring, can you let me know?

Less motivated to care / Only motivated to appear less motivated / How overrated today’s generation are
A social observation of people in my class, at my college and around my life. It’s quite sad that I reffer to my own generation as ‘kids’ sometimes. “Kids these days” and the like. I seperate my self from that though, I have never really felt like I fit in with people my own age. I do not know what differs me from them, but it’s there, a barrier that is a stubborn as I am.

She has a fab- romantic based photographic style. Retouched (softened) shadows under the eyes. Airbrushed face/arms. Added warm toned photo filter & curve adjustment. Original shot below.

This is an idea from my son, Nicolas. It’s all about poopy jokes at this age so I decided to ‘roll’ with it and hopefully get it out of his system. / He’s hired me to design his character and he says ” it would be nice if you bought my shirt”. He still can’t believe someone might actually by it.
my lil girl always gives me the “look” when she sees me with my camera….LOL

I need to let everyone in the group in on a few things, I guess you could call them changes. First, what I’m about to say is inspired by our little world of Immortal Love growing into it’s ‘adolescence’... I think it’s time that the group becomes a little more mature in the way it functions. I’ve attracted several people into the group that have told me they don’t participate in groups usually, and that’s fantastic! Thank you for the honor, to those of you who know who you are. Between those folks and the dozen or so who are the core of the group – those who are constantly adding and seem to be featured regularly – the makeup of members in Immortal Love is pretty close to what I had envisioned: A network of people within RB and without sharing with us the genre we love and work in, spreading recognition and friendship among this network I’ve worked so hard to create. But because of this very fact, I’m going to have to tighten things up a bit or else the very things I had hoped to accomplish could be lost in a mass of superflous … stuff …. that is inapplicable. Some have noticed I have started removing art as I’m featuring others. From now on I have to use the following guideline(s). / 1) work that I can’t find a reasonable link to the genre must be removed from the group. Its not fair to those who create and love work in the genre to be buried by work that isn’t. Anyone who’s work is removed is invited to justify to me how their piece fits into the genre of supernatural or horror based romance or erotica. / 2) I’m also going to be a little more strict on the features. Once again, it’s not fair to those who are truly working in the genre and that I want to bring to the attention of the network. The only works featured will be the ones that obviously capture the genre without too much assumption, implication or abstraction. I hope everyone can see how these are good things. Finally, I am still committed to trying to get written work to be as appreciated as the visual work. Unfortunately, trying to include written work into the challenges didn’t work out so well. In fact, the first challenge didn’t work out so well. I believe it goes back to what I said about the makeup of the group members. In any case, I will still be pushing hard for writing appreciation, and less time on the challenges until evidence appears that I should change. Thank you to EVERYONE for helping me to make the group as successful as it has become in a mere 2 weeks, thank you so much for those of you participating who make the group what it is, and thank you soooooo much to my co-hosts who allow me to pretty much indulge my vision: The time will come soon that I will need you to help out more as i will be indisposed, but beyond that your level of participation is completely up to you and I cherish and value immensely any and all advice or ideas about the group you have and continue to come up with!! Thanks everyone, I owe it all to you! Sinn
