as always please click on the image to see greater detail and a larger view / / The coastal cliffs around the Great Otway NP glow vibrantly in the first light of the morning. After coming to this location over many years I finally got an image I like even though the sunrise’s themselves this trip were ‘nice’...they were not sensational, so I feel pretty happy with this result. / / / Fuji G617 – no cropping,no stitching. A great spot for forgiving waves. I remember surfing here when I was a kid. In those days we would drive mum’s mini 850 down onto the beach, pitch a tent above the high water line and stay for a few days until the food ran out. We usually had the beach to ourselves. We always cleaned up so that you wouldn’t know we had been there!

Addy, from my Perpetual Motion series. Each peice is drawn entirely with the numbers 1 – 12, marking the hours of the clock. I call this style “Numberism” / As far as I know, it’s never been done before. / Pencil on Vellum paper. 8.5” x 11” Reference photo We’re constantly moving in one of four directions. Even if we choose to do nothing at all, we are still moving through time. Because of this, we can never go back to where we started. Every frame, there is a new “you”, fully formed in the present moment in time, built on our past and hoping for the future, but only truly existing in this moment. It is only this moment that actually exists or ever will exist, and it’s the only point in which our actions and choices will have any effect on the world, and it will be gone as quickly as it came. These drawings are attempts to show just how fleeting these moments are, these moments that so quickly become our long kept memories, and things that despite how much we might like to, are moments we can never relive. My hope is that when we look at these drawings, we will be reminded of the importance of now and possibly take more advantage of it than we might have without the reminder.

A photoshop colored version of Addy from the “Perpetual Motion” series. This series uses a new technique, I am calling “Numberism”, wherein everything is drawn using only the numbers 1 -12, marking the hours of the clock. Artist Statement for Perpetual Motion Here
