Well I woke up this morning and as usual the first thing I do is turn on the computer . I’m still addicted to RB but I’m about to start seeking help for this…or at least I was until today…. You see, I made a sale – a laminated print too. How exciting is that. What a fabulous way to start the day. Thankyou to the wonderful person who purchased Fenced Off I was absolutely stoked. But then, I saw that my pic called Cucamonga was on the What’s Hot List. Just as exciting as a sale, I can tell you – it’s my first time on that list and its recognition that my work is heading in the right direction. / And then I got favourited on the Home Page. My absolute first time there. All of this in 1 hour…....an hour when I should have been getting the boys breakfast, feeding myself, getting dressed, cleaning the house etc…talking to my husband… Instead I have spent the morning on the computer typing thankyou’s and reading fabulous comments and writing this….So I am in a quandry – I want to enjoy my time on the top of the list (as it may not happen again) ...but I also have a family…..what do I do!!!! It’s a brilliantly sunny day here in Oz and I’m missing it…all because this damn site is sooooo addictive and fabulous.. Ahhhhhhh / But I love it. Thanks to everyone who has stopped by and commented and a special thanks to the buyer of “Fenced Off” . I really do appreciate it Have a good day everyone. / Naomi.

AUGUST ADDICTIONS 2008

So, since I am part of the Promote Each Other Group, I have decided that one way I can help to promote other RB artists is to present everyone with my current addictions for the previous month. These will be highlights from my favorites list presented here. There is no real theme – just stuff that I like and people/things that have caught my attention!!!! This first edition will showcase more than usual because I am going to be picking my top seven favorites in each category from my long favorites list of all time. In future months, I will narrow it to five and only pick from the previous month. I will not give reasons as to why I picked a certain piece or artist, I will simply let the selections speak for themselves. If the artists/writers would like me to write a review of their piece or interview them for it to appear on my blog and anywhere else the artist/writer would like, please contact me and we can work something out! I am planning on doing some artist interviews, and stuff on these lists will have first priority! I will also being adding more Bubble Sites to next month’s list. So, if you have yours done, let me know and I may add it! Anyways, without further adieu… / AUGUST ADDICTIONS 2008 – A Red Bubble Showcase Note: Hoovering over images and links will give you more information! I’ve missed heaps in the last week. Serves me right for not going along with my addiction… I’ve resisted popping in because I tend to stay for quite a while. Can’t seem to find the log off button and after I do, I find something else extraodinary to look at (again) and need to log on (again) to comment!! It’s a beautiful cycle… I’ve tried to have a set day for bubbling, but it’s not working… I’ll just have to bubble for a bit every night and set the alarm or something. Maybe the one in the computer to turn the screen off so I’ll be forced to stop. Its a bit like putting the jar of biscuits up high and behind something else so that you’ll try that bit harder to get one (or three)... Anyone else out there covered in RedBubbles feeling the same?

Well… it’s happened. After countless late nights and early mornings spent on RedBubble – I’ve been banned! Well really just asked to spend a little less time on RB and more time with my family. I don’t know….priorities!! I was thinking of starting an RBA group (RedBubblers Anonymous) but for now I’ll just try and cut back. Wish me luck!

Basically, I turned the computer on at 5am, and now twelve hours later, I reflect on all the things I had planned for today. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Sorry, an unavoidable expectoration. / I can take some consolation from the work I’ve put up today but really, this place is getting to me. I need to undertake an RB rationing program.

Just a quick Journal entry to thanks all my fellow photographers on RB. Since my first login a month or so ago I have found nothing but support and encouragement from all on RB. You have provided me with the drive to improve my skills and the motivation to strive to do so. Not only have I gained many sources of knowledge and expertise, but I have also made new friends (I hope :D) I honestly did not expect RB to be so socially addictive as it is. That is not a bad thing at all. Rather it is the driving force behind our community. Joining RB has been the single most important step in my emerging photographic career. It has provided me with the support, encouragement and self-confidence to want to take my work to the next level…..and its all down to you….. Thank you Red Bubble…..

I am finally able to stand up and address the group and say these few words fiercely, wait I mean shout! “I am addicted to Photography”. Yes, yes oh yes, wait wrong journal for those words, Ok, so here is the scoop. I took today off to go to the Zoo, no big deal you say, well hold your knickers, I was already there Saturday. Oh and wait, I have a group photography meeting there, this SATURDAY. I shoot an average of 16gb per day. I narrow it down when I get home to around 10 GB of photos. SHIT! ok so here is the real scoop, I freaking LOVE IT. There is not one time I have had a bad shoot, way to go ME!!!! big probably is that I get Overwhelmed with the editing process. I have so many photo’s and so many hardrives I can’t take it sometimes. I really really need to hire someone to do it for me. Ok, so I got that off my chest and I have a big one..:) Have a great day and thanks for ready this shit!

I decided to gather together my cards as i will need to begin putting them in frames ready for going on my walls when my bedroom is decorated. I went through my filing cabinet and found cards in every nook and cranny, gathered all together in one pile i suddenly thought….. OMG I’m addicted to buying cards, so this is a simple request that you all stop producing such stunning work and to also boobytrap your cards so they set off a Sharon alert. Thank you for taking the time to read this…....... unbeknown to you , this has been my ploy to stop you uploading and to delay the inevitable purchase ….............. Exhibit A / Exhibit B /

A few thoughts and tips..

OK I can now officially confess I am a redbubble addict. I am by no means an expert on art, having had no recognised training or have any qualifications but I know what I like and if I see something that I do like, I will leave feedback as to what I like about it. I don’t leave negative feedback, my mother used to say “If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing” and what may not be to my taste somebody else might think is brilliant. I do not think I am qualified enough to leave constructive critisism, there is a forum especially for that if you need it. I have developed a method for leaving feedback, if somebody takes time to leave a comment on my work I will always check out their work, if there is something I like I will comment. If somebody on my watch list adds a new work, I will check it out and leave feedback if I like it. Then I get to new work, eventually! and maybe after all this I check out some new additions to the groups I am in, and then the forums, and then the help pages, there are just not enough hours in the day anymore! How I find time to add new work beats me. I favourite stuff I really really like! This means I don’t favourite much, one or two items a week! I am a hard person to please. I have probably one photograph in my portfolio that I would myself favourite! Now I am not too bothered if I don’t sell anything! I actually get my kicks by somebody saying they like one of my photographs. My tips on success: Do not upload a lot of work at the same time! Each piece should be given time for the community to view and comment on. If somebody takes the time to comment, take a look at their work. Ask questions in the forums if you need help, people are always willing to offer advice. Always add tags to your work! If somebody wants to buy a particular picture this is the ONLY way they will find yours! Always think of a title for your work, even if it is obvious. Look at the best and judge your own work against it. How does it compare? Enjoy the community and enjoy your own and others work. If anybody has any more tips feel free to add them!

Ok, this isn’t that anonymous, but I’ve decided to disclose to all you my fellow RB addicts, that I am also addicted (as noted in a previous entry), and I intend to treat this addiction by limiting my commenting/favouriting/interacting/journalling etc. to 1-2 hours / week. I’m likely to upload more than once a week, but the time consuming stuff will have to be limited. I know that some people can manage their hobbies even if they are “addicted”. Unfortunately, my addiction is possibly bordering on unhealthy. But please, it’s my own issue, a personality things. Red bubble is a sensational site, but I find I tend to get more out of things when I approach them with moderation and temperance. God bless all you people who have achieved this balance. I hope to be walking in your footstep one day.

HAHAHAHA! Seriously RB is addicting. I joined yesterday and can hardly tear myself away. I stayed up till three in the morning and now today I can’t seem to get anything done because I keep coming back. I anticipate reading new comments, seeing new art work from my watchlist, favorites or discovering someone new. I can’t stop thinking about redbubble since I joined yesterday. Does this fade a little bit, because how will I ever get anything done!? :)

RedBubble puts a spell (sticking charm) on you that keeps you hooked for as long as you have nothing else to do. It’s weird but I joined this site 3 days ago after a friend of mine showed me her work on this site in our class. I haven’t left the site for more than my sleeping hours since. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? :P Oh and while I’m writing this entry, I might as well say the rest too…. THANK YOU all so much for your response to my work. I’m completely overwhelmed and so happy to be part of this community!
