I’ve had a lot of people bubblemail me the past week or two asking me how to do this. So, I thought I’d write a journal explaining how. / Go under “Edit My Profile” in the “About Me” section and type in the code(s): To insert a picture that clicks to another website or page: / ! yourpictureURL.jpg !:yourwebsiteURL.com There are NO spaces in the above code. That is exclamation point, website URL to the picture that should end in .jpg for most of you, exclamation piont, colon, the website you are linking the picture to. To insert ONLY a picture without it linking to a website: / ! yourpictureURL.jpg ! Once again, there are NO spaces in the above code. Add an exclamation point at the very beginning and end of the picture URL address that most likely will end in .jpg. Also, Webgrrl has a great list of codes here Bubblemail me if you have any more questions!

  • TUTORIAL: Adding Buttons To Your Profile Page
    by Patricia Montgomery

I recently had several requests for instructions on how to add buttons like the ones in my profile. Rather than send individual bubblemail messages, I’m posting it in my journal in case someone else would like to add buttons to their RB profile. BUTTON INSTRUCTIONS Tip: print out this page and put it beside the computer before you start. You can make your own buttons or you can use a site called ButtonGenerator. If you decide to use this site and not to pay for a membership, you will need to add a link back to the site. I made all of mine 125X26 to give you some idea of the size of the ones on my page. This size allowed 3 buttons side-by-side. Make all your buttons and then save them in a folder on your computer. Then you will need to upload each button to your RB image gallery and use the “Hide” feature so that no one sees them but you. Once you have them uploaded you will need to right-click on each one to get the url address html code in the properties box. Example: http://images-0.redbubble.net/img/art/size:ularge/view:main/1407403-1-autumn-button.jpg Then go to “Edit Your Profile” to copy the image html code AND the tag html code – it will look like this (without the spaces): ! http://images-0.redbubble.net/img/art/size:ularge/view:main/1407403-1-autumn-button.jpg ! : http://www.redbubble.com/people/patmonty/art/everything/tags/autumn [REMEMBER NO SPACES. I had to add spaces so you could see the html code. If I had not added spaces, the button would have appeared in the journal instead of the code.] The last word in the html code is the “tag” word. In the example above it is autumn. You will need to put one space between each set of button html code. If you have a lot of buttons the language is long and wraps around forever. But with one space between each button html code, the buttons will sit next to other and then wrap to the next line. Now you will need to add the tag word to each of your images that will correspond to the buttons. Happy Button Making! • How To Add Categories on your Profile Page

I have organised my pictures into Category pages linked from the Profile page by hyperlinks. If you want to know how to do it, follow the instructions below. It is a little complicated, but like all things, with a bit of practice, it will become easier. First, let’s look at the example. This gives me another opportunity to shamelessly showcase my own work. I’m always happy to take any opportunity to stick my work under your noses. (While you are looking, just think: MUST BUY TOM’S WORK, MUST BUY TOM’S WORK, MUST BUY TOM’S WORK). First, I want you to go visit my Profile Page to see the example. Details are below, but before you go there, read on: Once you reach my Profile Page, just scroll down a little and you will see that I have a list of underlined words; Rome, Florence, Pisa, etc. These are the hyperlinks to my Category Pages. Just click on any link, for example, click on Santorini, and you will be taken to a Category Page containing small versions of my Santorini pictures. On this page, you just need to click on any of the small pictures to be taken to the real page for that picture. Just click on the following link to go to my Profile Page: Tom’s Profile Page and test out my hyperlinks. OK, if you would like to do something similar then here we go: The method is as follows: / It is best to create your links in the Notepad application on your PC. I need to explain it, because if I type it here exactly as you need to do, RedBubble will convert the link into a real hyperlink in my Journal Page. CAUTION: / If you are using a text editor to creat your links, DO NOT USE A RICH TEXT EDITOR like MSWord as the double quotes will not work in redbubble. MSWord will produce curly double quotes (like this: “ ”). You MUST have straight double-quotes (like this: ” “). Look closely, there is a difference. Category Pages make use of the Tags that you add to your pictures when you upload them. In my Santorini example, I wrote the word santorini in the Tags entry area on the Edit page when I added the artwork to RedBubble. If you have not done this already, then you can add an appropriate tag via the Edit page for each of your pictures and save the edit. Once you have the Tags in place, you can now construct the Category Page hyperlinks. Type a double-quote (“) Then the name that you want to use in the hyperlink (make sure you have no spaces). Type another double-quote (“) Then a full-colon (:) Then http://www.redbubble.com/people/ Then your name – this is the name that you are called in RedBubble (in my case, it is tomg) Then /art/everything/tags/ Then the tag you want to point to – in my example, this would be santorini It should look something like this: / ” Santorini ” : http://www.redbubble.com/people/tomg/art/everything/tags/santorini / But without the spaces. You can then repeat this for each hyperlink you want to construct. Remember to change the tag at the end (change santorini for another tag). If you want the hyperlinks to be on separate lines, then just type them that way (with a carriage return between each entry). If you want the hyperlinks to appear on the same line, then you could insert a space between each hyperlink or some other character or characters to separate the hyperlinks. I use .. To make this spacer, or something similar: After your hyperlink, insert a space Type an asterisk Type the character(s) you want to use – in my case .. Type an asterisk – the asterisks at either end just make it appear bold on the page Insert a space before the next hyperlink. Be careful about how many hyperlinks you put on one line. There is not a lot of room to work with and your hyperlinks will wrap over lines if you make the line to long. Once you have typed it all into Notepad, highlight all of the text and copy it to your mouse buffer. Go to the Edit Your Profile page and scroll down to the About you entry area. Think about where you want the hyperlinks to appear in your Profile Page and paste the copied text into this window at that point. When you are finished, scroll to the bottom of the Edit Your Profile page and press the Save Changes button. That should be it. Now you can go to your Profile page and check that it all worked. Let me know if you find this useful or indeed if you have any problems. Cheers, / Tom You can find all my How To Tutorials by clicking here.

  • How To Add a Signature to your Images

If you want to add a real signature to your images (as in this example), follow the instructions below: 1. Write a neat, readable signature. / 2. Scan it as a picture (.jpg file) at 300 dpi (ppi) / 3. Save the signature file. The following directions are for Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 and Adobe Photoshop CS2 (these are the versions I have). Some minor adjustments may be necessary if you are using another version. The next step is to save your signature as a brush. / 1. Open the scanned signature file in Photoshop. / 2. Select the Marquis tool. / 3. Draw the marquis around your signature (keep it tight to the edges of the signature). / 4. Click on the Brush tool. In CS2: / – Click on the Edit pull-down menu and select Define Brush Preset… / – A dialogue box will open (Brush Name). / – Go to Instruction step 5. In Elements: / – Click on the Edit pull-down menu and select Define Brush from Selection… / – A dialogue box will open (Pattern Name). 5. Next, name your brush something like my signature. / 6. Click OK. The next step is to place your signature on an image. / 7. Open your image in PhotoShop. / 8. Select the Brush tool. / 9. Go to Brush Presets Picker. Scroll to your signature – it should be near the bottom. You may use the square bracket keys to make the signature brush appear larger (use ]) or smaller (use [). / 10. Go to the area where you want to place your signature and click once. / 11. Save the picture as your photo name_Signed or something like that so as not to destroy your original picture. Cautions: / #1 / Images in RB are often cropped to fit to standard sizes. The Card option is one that may crop some of your original artwork depending on the size of the image. Depending on where you have placed your signature, RB may crop some of it away. Always check, by pressing on the buy/preview button in the Public View. You will be able to see if the signature has been cropped. If it has been cropped, load your original shot back into PhotoShop and repeat the process of adding the signature, but in a better position. Re-save the image (overwrite your signed copy). In RB, go to Edit mode for the image and upload the modified image (Change the image), then press the Save Changes button at the bottom of the Edit page. #2 / Depending on where you place the signature, you may need to change the colour of the brush tool. Some trial and error may be required. That should do it. Let me know if you have any problems. Tom You can find all my How To Tutorials by clicking here.

How to add your calendars to your bubble site. Today i thought i would share with you wonderful bubblers How to add your calendars to your bubble site, this is what i came up with and it seem to work great. what you will need to do is: 1- a photo that shows your calendar/s you might wish to make a group of photos from your online calendars covers in one image in photo shop , or if you already have calendars of yours that are printed already by REDBubble you might want to take a photo of them and use that . ” that is what i have done “ 2- simply use the upload a photo and add that photo to your profile. 3- now you will have to start making links , i know this is not easy for some people but here how you do it , all the work you will do have to go in the box where you add your own comments under that file upload , the place where you add text or images to show next to your images on the right hand side. / before you start open 2 windows of Red Bubble as you will keep moving from one to another , one to do the work on and the other to copy stuff from go to the image of the calender you want to make a link for copy the URL address which can be found by clicking right click on the image and then go to properties , just copy the line next to location of the image , it will end with JPG. now you will need to paste that URL into the box ” the box in the upload or edit page for that image you loaded” , now add ! in the start and the end of this URL line , no space. now you will have to make this URL ” the calender image ” into a clickable link and the way you do that is to add ” to the start and ”: to the end of that URL like so it will look something like this ! http:/images-2.redbubble.net/img/calendars/page:0/product:calndar/size:medim/view:preview/1793774-7-al-neaimi-art.jpg !> notice the start and the end, i did leave a space so you can see it , you should not leave any space in the start or end. now you need to have the address where that calender is so go to the calender ” use the second redbubble window which is open” copy the address from the address bar and must start with http://www / once you have that just copy it to the end of the line you were working on so it will look like this ”! http://images-2.redbubble.net/img/calendars/page:0/product:calendar/size:medium/view:preview/1793774-7-al-neaimi-art.jpg !”: http://www.redbubble.com/people/alneaimi/calendars/1793774-7-al-neaimi-art NO SPACES / you are done with the link for this calender , you can do the same for the number of calendars you have , they all go in that box. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—CLICK SAVE-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- then when you are done with this it will look something like THIS ok now we are done with that hard part , the fun part is to add it to your bubble site 1- the image you loaded you have to set it for sale , i made mine for sale as a card and marked it up so it shows the price of my calender not a card price , you will know why later . 2- go to your bubble site / 3- click on mange the gallery / 4-create a new set call it ” 2009 calenders ” or what ever you wish to name it. / 5-now click on your library ” the red box “ / 6- go to the bottom of the art list and find that photo you added / 7-drag that image into the folder called ” 2009 calender “ That is all you are done :-) HERE how it looks in the bubble site Best of luck to all of you wonderful people. regards Al Neaimi /

I have been asked how to get the images on my profile, I hope the following helps. A few people have written about how to get images onto your home page. This is a link for some help link This how to get the image of the card: Navigate to the location of the card public profile then click the picture of the photograph you want, next click buy preview. This page should then show your photograph as a card. Using the mouse pointer, point to the photograph and then right click. A box should open which has a number of options, select property’s and click. Now look under the heading location there should be an address such as http:// etc copy this entire location into the about me section in your profile and insert an exclamation mark at the front and back of this address. To make this a clickable link insert a colon after the last exclamation mark : Then if you want image to link to your buy page for example, copy the page address from the address bar in your browser and insert this after the colon you just placed in the code in your about me section. it should appear like this !Card address!:Page address This works with ANY photograph, to post the framed photograph navigate to the framed version then copy the location and put between two exclamation marks in the about me section or journal entry or add photo section or description box etc.then to link to a web page colon then page address. Note make sure there are no spaces in the code you type! I hope this makes sense. Paul

I have been asked a few times how to make and place frames around your pictures. Like all things, it only seems difficult until you learn how to do it. Here is how you can frame your pictures. After you have uploaded a picture, you will note that there is a buy/preview button. Press on this button. The Buy window will open with Card selected as default. You need to decide which border you want to use. For instance, if you want Laminated Print then press this icon and you will see your picture in a small white frame. I usually change this to a Medium frame with a Black border. You can decide what is right for you. Next thing to do is to right-click over your picture and select Properties from the popup window. The Properties window will appear. You will note that the Address of your picture is shown next to Address (URL). Using your mouse, highlight the address. It starts with http://images… and ends with .jpg or .png (depends on what you uploaded). Make sure you have highlighted all of it, just scroll until you reach the .jpg (or .png). Copy the URL. You can right-click and choose Copy. You will have a copy in your mouse buffer. Close the Properties window. Use Cancel or OK, it does not matter which. Use the back-arrow on the page (top left) to get back to your Edit page. In the Description area, you need to Paste the URL where you want the picture to appear. I usually do it after my picture description. You need to put an exclamation mark (!) before and after the URL. Make sure that you DO NOT place any blank spaces between the exclamation mark and the URL. After that, you just need to click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of the Edit page. If you prefer, you can paste the URL into the Add your comment box in the Public view area for your picture or in the About you area of your Edit Your Profile area (remember the exclamation marks). Click on the show public view of this work link (near top right) to see if it worked OK. Let me know if you have any problems. Cheers, / Tom You can find all my How To Tutorials by clicking here.

I recommend printing these instructions so that you have them handy for reference. It is easier than switching back and forth to this screen. HOW TO ADD PHOTOS TO YOUR PROFILE DESCRIPTION (About Me) These instructions will also work to add a photo to a bubblemail or comment. Choose a photo you have in your profile. Right click on the photo. In the pop-up box, click on “properties” (at the bottom). The “Properties” box will pop up – highlight the address (URL) . {Click & drag will highlight the entire address} IMPORTANT: Be sure to highlight the entire address – only two lines will be visible, but if a third line of the address hidden, be sure you drag down to highlight all lines of the address. To copy the URL address, press Ctrl-C (press the control key and the “C” key at the same time). You won’t see anything happen on the screen, but that is fine. Click OK to close the “Properties” box. Open “edit your profile” (or any other location where you want your pic to be visible). Press Ctrl-V (press control key and the “V” key at the same time). You should see the URL address. Put an exclamation point ( ! ) in front of the URL address and another one at the end of the URL address. It should look like this, but without the spaces: ! http://images-0.redbubble.com/img/art/cropped/size:xsmall/view:main/993259-1-yellowstone-in-winter.jpg ! Remember, NO SPACES before or after the exclamation point (!) – the beginning of the URL should look like this: !http:// The end of the URL address should look like this: winter.jpg! I hope this is helpful. I would be remiss if I did not give credit to Sharon Henson as she is the one who was generous enough to share this information with me. The Polyphemus moth (Antheraea polyphemus) is a North American member of the family Saturniidae, the giant silk moths. It is a tan colored moth, with an average wingspan of 6 inches (15 cm). The most notable feature of the moth is its large, purplish eyespots on its two hindwings. The eye spots are where it gets its name – from the Greek myth of the Cyclops Polyphemus. The caterpillar of the Polyphemus moth can eat 86,000 times its weight at emergence in a little less than two months. It is widespread throughout much of North America, from southern Canada to parts of Mexico.

This tutorial is mainly for the bubblers that are new to navigating the RB site. The calendars are quite easy to create. The most important thing to remember is that all images must meet the following requirements. Even one pixel below these numbers and it won’t work. 2182 by 1906 pixels for the main pages / 3271 by 2874 pixels for the cover page Click on “my bubble” Click on “calendars” (in the 2nd row of menu items) Click on “Add a new calendar” (right-hand side of screen) Add a title and description (optional, but recommended) Add your cover image (When you click on the little down arrow, it will bring up a list of titles of all the images in your gallery, even the ones that may be “hidden” or “not for sale”.) Then just start adding images, one for each of the twelve months. If you aren’t quite finished but want to save it, use the “Hide” feature at the bottom of the page. Then you can make changes without anyone seeing it. When you are ready to publish, then change to “Allow Anyone to View This Work”. I hope this is helpful. Lots of people like to add either a Framed View or a Large View of their image into the Comments area for the image. If you want to add a framed shot, have a look at my previous Journal entry Adding a frame around your pictures. The instructions for adding a Large View into the Add your comment box are below. Before you start, open up the Edit Your Profile page (accesible from the my bubble page – click on the edit your profile link near the top of the page). If you use a watermark, scroll down to Zoom View Watermark Preferences. Ensure that either the No watermark (default) or Place a small watermark in the corner of my images is selected. If you use a large watermark, you will obscure the view of the image on the page. Scroll a little further down to Other Preferences. Make sure that the first checkbox in this section (the one that starts with Discourage people from …) is unchecked. If you do not turn this off, you will not be able to copy the image. If you have to change anything, be sure to press the Save Changes button before moving on. Navigate to the Public View of the image of interest. / Press the view larger button (it is just under the left corner of the image). Right-click over the image and select Properties. / Copy the Address (URL) – make sure you get it all, there will likely be three lines of text starting with http: and ending with one of .jpg, .gif or .png – depending on the file type you uploaded. Select view work details (it is just under the left corner of the image) to get back to the previous page. In the Add your comment box, type an exclamation mark (!). / Paste the URL that you copied earlier (directly after the exclamation mark). / Type another exclamation mark (!) directly after the URL. / Make sure there are no spaces. Press the Add Comment button. That will do it – a large view of your image will be appended into the Comments area. I hope you find this useful.
