No chance of a tripod with this shot. / I was hanging out of the passenger window on the interstate / with blasts of cold wind biting my face, praying the door held fast! / Taken yesterday.. / / /
We call it ACIEEED!
Wai-O-Tapu (Māori for “Sacred Waters”) is an active geothermal area just north of the Reporoa caldera in New Zealand’s Taupo Volcanic Zone. Here the lake is formed by the surfacing of one of the largest hot springs in the area. It is roughly circular with a diameter of 65 m and a depth of 62 m. The surface temperature of the water is 74 °C and bubbles of carbon dioxide can be seen continuously rising to the surface, giving the pool its name. The pool’s distinctive orange edge is caused by the minerals orpiment and realgar, both sulphides of arsenic. / / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / see more photographic works from New Zealand by clicking on the preview below
The original is 30” x 24” acrylic on stretched canvas. Look into the center. Take a deep breath in. Hold it…. and then let it out.. Relax your vision and breath deeply. For some, you will see the flames move and burn.

It’s funny the way most people love the dead. Once you are dead, you are made for life.
My friend Ryan does a lot of acid. I remember him telling me about this one trip he had where he kept seeing smurfs everywhere. They were really cute and he thought it was pretty cool. But then one of them turned around and smiled at him and it’s mouthed curled up into this huge evil grin, revealing massive pointed teeth. Then they all turned evil and started chasing him. / I always get this really vivid image in my head whenever this story comes up and I thought it would make an interesting design. My aim was to give it the appearance of LSD blotter paper, which usually has pictures or designs on it.

Created in Ultra Fractal 4. While creating it, it made me think of acid rains, of a turbulent psychedelic undersea… I thank you for taking an interest in my art, for the views and favourites. Josette :)
