How long have these council flats been a landmark on the Sydney-city skyline? I can remember them from at least 40 years ago, and they don’t seem to have changed a bit over all those years! Some might think that camping out in a summer storm is not all that grand, but between the pitter patter of rain falling on my swag and the constant flashes of lightening, I rank the inside of my swag as 5 Star Accommodation. This storm was captured at our camp site near Goulburn (20.01.09). This panorama was stitched using three images near dusk and is best viewed by clicking view larger (so you can see our swags!).

Down a track, on a property established in the early 1800’s, in the Southern Tablelands, NSW Inspired by this poem by Andrew Barton Patterson / (aka Banjo) The Silent Shearer Weary and listless, sad and slow, / Without any conversation, / Was a man that worked on The Overflow, / The butt of the shed and the station. The shearers christened him Noisy Ned, / With an alias “Silent Waters”, / But never a needless word he said / In the hut or the shearers’ quarters…............... Read full poem here /
This is an image I would have LOVED to try to capture in 1 photograph… I thought for ages about how to create the steam effect in real life… a piece of ‘dry ice’ in the hand under the fish? Where on earth do you get dry ice from? And – how to insulate the hand from it so it doesn’t get totally frozen / burnt? A lit cigarette? Incense? Anyway, I was finally forced to admit it was all a bit too hard… (Though – to be honest – the thought of actually holding a stinking rotten fish like this in my bare hands – reasonably close under my nose – also kind of put me off a little…) So all the images used here are, as always, taken with my Sony Alpha 350, by me. “I’m thinking scientific accommodation of religion is akin to letting someone take your King’s Rook off the board because you’re winning.” – Glendon Mellow 2009 This painting was originally created due to a Twitter tweet I made, inspired by the writing of Jerry Coyne, Ophelia Benson, PZ Myers, Mike Haubrich, Stephanie Zvan and Richard Dawkins, and others. I am having a contest at my blog, The Flying Trilobite to identify all the pieces. You could win a signed print! Blog comments only to qualify. I will update this space with a link to the contest, and later to the winner.
