Taken at spurn point, these eroded groynes/wavebreakers wers partially submerged in the sea. I then decided the image would work better as an abstract, so did a bit of messing about in PS.
I created this artwork with two fractal programs and the tools of two different graphic programs. Hope you like the endresult. / /

Acrylic on canvas i could have played around with this forever but the sun shone in the afternoon in Scotland today, signalling a decent photo-oppurtunity and the glorious words ‘it is finished’ – the shining of the sun here today caused the death of fifty Scots by sunstroke, many more are recieving treatment for shock

Pastel Painting on coloured Canson paper using soft pastels and Faber Castell Pitt Pencils. The sea recedes and leaves her treasures / The sky is glowing, it is one of life’s pleasures / Nature’s trinkets are within your grasp / Memories collected that will forever last…. The water has receded revealing the sand and all its treasures. Inspired by my daughter’s photo called Karumba Sun taken on her travels around Australia…this shows just another one of Australia’s most beautiful beaches.

This began as a watercolor on Yupo paper. I was amazed at how this underwater sea world appeared as I played with it on Picnik. I love the plant life that appears to be growing at the bottom and the tiny colored sea creatures that emerged. I especially love the abstract nature of this exploratory piece. I have become an underwater explorer and I never even got wet!!
I shut my eyes to the sharp, stale wind from across a mountain of urban decay and step on the gas. The water whirls in colorful pools around the drain. I follow it and float on ribbons and glass bottles. The twirling pattern of “suppose to” and “should” loses momentum as I become lost in the valley without people. Once inside the cave, my eyes open and I see what I want to see. The seaside is raging against the walls of desert mansions. The crisscross lines of regret mingle with other labels, such as “experience” and “growth.” / I grab onto air and breath in the salty ocean spray and listen to bells of red and purple that chime like abandoned churches that are forever granting souls permission to sing. So I do that. Though I don’t have permission. And the wind joins me in a hymn to the sky and the ocean plays a chorus of melodies that engage the grains of sand to dance dance dance on a wall of fire that flings itself forward and shakes hands with me. “Don’t be afraid,” fire says. “I’m only destroying what is dead in order to bring to life another memory.” All on a Windblown Desert Sea is 22”x28” acrylic and gesso on smooth surface colored posterboard
I know, not my usual work. I went to the beach a few days ago and happened to get some amazing captures of the sunset, which usually doesn’t go well for me. This time it was just perfect. This is the horizon in case you can’t tell. I photographed it at an angle. I reversed it, water above, sky below. Added a purple hue in PS, upped the contrast and that’s about it. I like it. We get pretty sunsets here. Puget Sound, Edmonds, WA © Jessica Walker 2009
