The building’s interior, remodeled at that time, is a rare example of New Bauhaus-style design. The art center, which was established as part of the Works Progress Administration’s (WPA) Federal Art Project, has been influential in the development of the city’s African-American artists. It is the only continuous survivor of the more than 100 centers established nationwide by the WPA during the 1930s and ‘40s. Hey all! Just wanted to let you know that my calendars are done and ready for your Christmas gifting! I really, really wanted to make an IR one – but not this year. :) There are seven options: Images of Entropy. This one features macros of rust and decay – in bright colors and fascinating patterns. / Summer in the Outer Banks. Breezy sandy beaches, remote islands, and lighthouses…need I say more? / The Glory of the Columbine. Who knows – maybe someone loves columbines enough to buy a whole calendar of them! / Everyday Mysteries. Things you probably don’t notice… / A Bouquet. My favorite florals from this year! The favorite so far! / The Year of the Leaf. Another effect of my late fascination with leaves… / Still Life & Structural. A unique blend of images with a subtle theme of structure running throughout. /

I have put together this year’s collection of my favourite photos in a gallery. A couple of things - / These are not necessarily my best photos, whatever that means. They definitely are not my most popular photos – in fact, the majority of them have not been seen before. But they are my personal favourites in 2008 (in chronological order), for many and various reasons. You’ll find many genres, from landscape to street, from floral to abstract. However, many of my favourites cannot be shown, as they were taken for clients who do not give permission for public display. Another bit of trivia – I counted 11 photos that have been cropped. I mention this, because one of the things I enjoy about photography is to frame and compose on site. Anyway, enjoy. There are a lot of them – 105, I think. Slideshow works best, on black. If you skim through them, I’ll know, and come and eat your cat. 2008 – A Photographic Retrospective

On Aug 29th I am doing my first art show and sale. It will be in the village of Marmora, this is just a small show with local artists. It will be interesting to see the response to my art! If anyone out there lives in Southern/Central Ontario I would love to see you. Marmora is 30 min north of Belleville, or 2 hrs from Toronto or Ottawa. Wish me luck, AV

I’ve only been on Redbubble for a few months and I feel I have learnt so much from everyone here. I joined redbubble during a rather low period in my life (which is thankfully over) and in an effort to gain some control over my financial life ie: not working for anymore crapmeister, neo-nazi managers! Even though I haven’t sold any work yet, I am confident that it will happen one day (fingers crossed, eyes tightly shut muttering to myself “please, please, please, please, please). ;-)) The art on this website is awesome and that is why I am always so pleasantly surprised my images are featured in a group. That’s not to say I think my images shouldn’t be featured, just that the standard on redbubble is so very, very high. I’d like to thank the hosts of the following groups for featuring the work shown below (in no particular order).
