  • Oil on Canvas – 30×60 in. The optional title for this was “Coat of Many Colors”. Painted with pallet knives only.

  • Oil on Canvas – 24×30 in. This piece is intended to be a study of the effect of placing bright blues against bright reds. Somewhat like the old 3D glasses, there are a number of areas that appear to float when viewed closely in person. The goal is also to blur the lines between what is the immediate foreground and background color – a sort of color intrusion that changes when you force yourself to consider one or the other as the primary. As far as the title goes, it has a personal theological meaning to me. The blue tones represent Jesus describing himself as the provider of living spiritual water of which those who drink will never thirst, while simulatneously having the red represent the sacrificial shedding of blood. “Non-Compliance” refers to his teachings coming in to direct conflict with the rulers of his day.

  • the underlying water that you see in this image is courtesy of Marcelo Terraza again thanks to his immense talent, beautiful photography and generosity =)

  • Abstractor’s palette / Red, green, and blue / For him this set / Makes every hue / / Million colors / Dance in his mind / Seek to concur / When they’re combined / / Such complex task / Color to choose / Inside he asks / Which one to use? / / Selections strife / Use this or not / To bring to life / His vision’s thought / / This abstract fractal artwork is meant to portray the mix of the old classical painters mortarboard with the concepts of the abstract artist. It is very detailed, so it is really hard to appreciate over the internet. To give you an idea, I had to upload a PNG file for this one, because a jpeg at even the lowest possible compression just shredded the details to bits. The artwork was created in ChaosPro, and the gradient was created in the ChaosPro gradient editor. This is a pure fractal with not post-processing work done, so the details would not be diminished or degraded. The original is 6000×4800 pixels at 300 pixels an inch. / /

  • What is it? You will never guess so I will tell you! A week ago I was filling my car at a gas station and noticed that when people had replaced the gas nozzle in the holder many of them had clearly missed it and had scratched the paint off around that part of the gas pump. The red paint underneath the black was showing through. I surreptitiously shot off a couple of photos (ant not before another motorist spotted me and asked me why I was photographing the gas pump!). Anyhow, the shots weren’t very good – I looked for similarly scratched pumps during the week and couldn’t find any in my area, so today I went back to have a more systematic attempt at it. I told the guy behind the counter what I was doing – he looked dubious and it took some time for me to convince him I wasn’t a lawyer or some Govt regulator about to cause the business trouble!
