  • An original Abstract Acrylic Painting of my Rainforest Garden looking out from my Art Studio in Queensland Australia. /

  • This is simply a photograph of the water in our swimming pool on a Beautiful Sunny day in Southern California.

  • All through the ages pools, lakes, sacred wells and springs have all been invested with magical properties and believed to be the dwelling places of the gods. Water is a universal symbol for the Soul and is represented by different moods and qualities. It can be gentle like rain and as hard as ice. In this painting using wax the Water Bird has arrived, to be refreshed and to return to its real state of purity by washing away the debit of the past. Encaustic wax

  • This is an abstract image taken at the edge of a thermal spring in the West Thumb geyser basin in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. While the image appears to not contain any living thing, the colors themselves are in fact a product of the microscopic organisms called Thermophiles which thrive at extremely high temperatures. When visiting Yellowstone, you will see different veins of colors surrounding the fumaroles, geysers and thermal pools. The various colors in these mats are different types of Thermophiles which thrive at specific temperatures or have preferences for alkaline, acidic, or sulphiric enviroments. The enviroment determines the type of Thermophile that lives there and this diversity creates the colors you see. The color in this image is exactly as it was taken by my camera. It is not a macro image. At the top right, the turquoise color is the very edge of the thermal pool, the white border is mineral deposits and the brown and yellow and orange colors are the Thermophile living in a mat surrounding the pool. / This image has sold as a laminated print and a matted print 3 times through RedBubble. /

  • Macro photography from the bark of an Australian Gum Tree. MY GALLERIES / Rockscapes / Barkscapes / Flowers / Paintings / Sunsets / Story Photoart / Panoramics

  • I think this image is something of an optical illusion. to me, it appears to bulge out, even though it’s concave. you decide.

  • Another in my Crape Myrtle series. Macro photo of bark of the tree – the bark peels and reveals extrordinary colors. These grow in abundance where I live and no two are the same. I rotated this 90 degrees to provide this ‘landscape’ picture of rock pools on a rocky sea shore. Shot with Nikon D80 on tripod, f/13, 1/10 sec, 105mm ISO 640.

  • Vernal Pool at Santa Rosa Plateau in California

  • Although I usually use bark, rocks and plants as the elements in my abstract images, I choose to experiment with using water as an abstract for the viewer to project what he or she perceives. This is a macro shot of a swimming pool. Some post production effects were used to create the diverse imagery. vibrant color and beautiful texture. To appreciate this photograph, please view it in the large format.

  • Time lapse image of the outdoor swimming pool area at the Charisma Hotel in Turkey; captured at night from my room’s balcony.

  • My son has just completed his first lot of swimming lessons. These are his little feet, breaking through the waters surface. Untouched photograph shot on 35mm with a disposable waterproof toy camera that I picked up for $6 in one of those cheapo shops. I’m off to the coast for the long weekend, Happy Australia Day everyone, see you next week. Best viewed LARGE

  • A black and white pastel on black acid free paper of the beautiful, cascading Horseshoe Waterfalls, Australia. What delight we felt when we first discovered this. It was located at the end of our street where we used to live and was only a 5 minute walk, that took us to a peaceful place where we could forget the world for a while. It is still only a 10 minute drive away. Waterfalls are usually geological formations resulting from water, often in the form of a stream flowing over an erosion-resistant rock that forms a nickpoint or sudden break in elevation. Whatever the description waterfalls are a natural wonder and there are some breathtaking ones all over the world. The waterfall drops its sparkling veil / covering its rock face leaving slippery trails / twinkling drops of water bursting in the light / its beauty never ending even at night! • This is my first attempt playing with food dye, water and my computer monitor as a brightly lit backdrop. See here for how I created this shot. (The stack of dvds were implemented after this shot was taken) / / This was pretty damn difficult without a tripod or assistant.. One hand holding the camera , one hand holding the dropper, full of dye. Having to get focus on the camera, hold it straight, shoot and drop the dye at once.. I need a tripod haha! / / I had heaps of fun trying to make this work though. Soon learning that dropping the dye closer to the front of the glass allowed for more clarity in the shot. / / The next step will be multiple colours, but not till a tripod is involved lol. Featured in Color & Light / Featured in Out Of The Blue / Featured in The Beginners Corner / / Slight crop of original, adjustment of brightness and contrast for colour control. / / Canon 50D / 58mm, 18 – 55 / f5, 1/320, ISO 1600 / / MCN:CRR2W-5HDN9-7U4H3

  • Round two of the Rainbow Drowning project. See here for how I created this shot. (The stack of dvds were implemented after this shot was taken) / / Was holding the camera portrait for these ones, to get a bit more depth and length in the shots. The dye squirted harder than expected, causing a fast and long rippling effect in the water. / / Loved the contrast between light and dark in these ones and the background blur too. / / Crop of original shot, with adjustment of brightness and contrast. No other enhancements to this series. Featured in The Male Photographer / / Canon 50D / 58mm, 18 – 55 / F5.6, 1/80, ISO 400 / / / / / / MCN:CW9F2-AMK6S-WPAKR
