  • Picasso fans will recognize this as similar to “Girl Before A Mirror”. It was of course insired by that painting. This was done in blue and green colored pencils… it very much expressed how I was feeling at the time I did it.

  • Was bored again at work this afternoon – I really must look for a more interesting job! I haven’t done any drawing or painting for years, but since joining Redbubble my creative juices have started flowing again. This is just a tiny sketch based on a photo I took of my own eye but I’m adding it to my gallery as a pledge to myself to get my pencils and inks out again.

  • Flourish is about to let your talents and all things strong and positive inside you to come out and make of you a reference and inspiration for everybody else. Simply as that. So many people are so talented but hide their potential afraid of intimidating the ones that are supposed to be not that “special”... They do not suspect that they would give the others the”permission” to flourish also! It’s also a message for the people that believe they have nothing to offer: try to leave accommodation, self-pity, self-denial or whatever negative emotion or opinion you have about yourself outside your door. Believe in me, nobody is here for nothing. You are a co-creator and a very important part of the Universe. So, assume this position and start seeking for your light inside. Flourish! watercolor and pencil on paper / 12×8.5

  • Ascension is about love and its power. Anahata is the chakra located in the heart region. iI has 12 petals and it is connected to the capacity of loving deeply and also to the feelings of compassion and empathy. It is generally depicted in the color green, but in my mind it appeared in luminous yellow with hints of red. It is through the anahata chakra that we can contact universal love. It is the main point of contact to the so-called “inner Christ” and the upper planes. Other symbols I used to represent the same concept are the water, running upward in a straight blue stripe across the picture, and the fish. The fish is connected to the Pisces sign and also to the primitive Christianity message. Both symbols are related to universal love and compassion. The skull means that loves transcends even death, and leads to a deep transformation. It also has the meaning of the XIII arcane, Death – things that die to give place to other ones, a deeply alchemical experience. The upper figure is representative of a state of ecstasy and bliss conduced by deeply spiritual experiences. When we are able to achieve a full state of love, even for brief moments, we feel like we are connected to something bigger and higher. Experiencing love is also a totally libertarian thing, which I wanted to show through the hawk with open wings emerging from all the violet at the top. It’s only through love that we can transcend our material condition and achieve perfect happiness and fulfillment.

  • A black and white pastel on black acid free paper of the beautiful, cascading Horseshoe Waterfalls, Australia. What delight we felt when we first discovered this. It was located at the end of our street where we used to live and was only a 5 minute walk, that took us to a peaceful place where we could forget the world for a while. It is still only a 10 minute drive away. Waterfalls are usually geological formations resulting from water, often in the form of a stream flowing over an erosion-resistant rock that forms a nickpoint or sudden break in elevation. Whatever the description waterfalls are a natural wonder and there are some breathtaking ones all over the world. The waterfall drops its sparkling veil / covering its rock face leaving slippery trails / twinkling drops of water bursting in the light / its beauty never ending even at night! • Watercolor and pencil on illustration board, / 15×20 / 2009 Related work: / The Waterman: Unio Mystica This is the second panel of The Waterman triptych. While the central panel represents the Christ as the macrocosm, the side panels are the microcosm, represented by the Four Elements and their manifestation in the physical world. Ignis Aeris is the yang pillar, the elements Fire and Air. Volatile and oriented upward, these elements are connected to the realms of the abstract thinking and intuition. Fire is the energy, passion and primeval instincts, that need to be balanced by the intellect (Air) in order to manifest in a most constructive way. The certainty of the Divine, that comes from the heart and from a primal knowledge, needs to be shaped by the intellect in order to become less aggressive and to expand (the butterflies rising from the fire and flying upward). Only through a perfect combination of faith and reason we can access the Divine and understand Its Laws. At the basis of the picture, handling the creative power of Fire, we see the Magician of the Tarot, which I represented wearing the skin of Nemean Lion, just like Greek hero Herakles. He represents the first step in the Hero’s Journey, or that path that each one of us need to find out and go through in order to become Whole with the Universe. The Magician is the one who uses his power of will (Fire) and mental skills (Air) in order to find his own path.

  • Watercolor and pencil on illustration board, / 10×8 / 2009 Model: Adhara Batul One of the Greek myths I adore the most, for its incredible strength, poetry and significance, is the myth of Persephone. In Greek mythology, Persephone was the goddess of the underworld and of the Spring growth. Daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest, she was abducted by Hades and taken to the land of the dead. By a determination of the Fates, she was forced to stay for two seasons each year after eating pomegranates seeds, thus becoming consort of Hades and queen of the underworld. This time I opted by depicting her sorrow and solitude after having the seeds, although there’s quite an air of resignation with her destiny.

  • Watercolor and pencil on board. / 11×14 / 2009 Model: Adhara Batul Life came from many seas. Seas of deep blue and secrets unknown that keep myriads of bacteria and beginnings. Seas of wombs and their sacred silence. Seas of past and forgetfulness, alive in the depths of our souls, dark and mysterious.

  • Watercolor, gouache and pencil on board, / 11×14 / 2009 Model: Kambriel One of my latest passions is the symbolism of the peacock, and how it has been associated to immortality and renewal. His feathers were used as talismans and protection against evil spirits. In the Eastern traditions it has been seen as symbols of wisdom, benevolence, compassion and kind-heartedness. The “eye” in the peacock feather is associated to the pineal gland, making of it a sacred symbol. Through the development of the pineal gland one can awake the Kundalini and achieve understanding of the spiritual world.

  • Watercolor, gouache and pencil on board, / 11×14 / 2009 The heart has a voice and a music, the same ones your spirit have recognized for many ages. The voice of your heart is the voice of freedom. Through it you’ll be able to find yourself and find your inner God. Let that voice be heard, recognize yourself as the creator of your own reality. Put aside all the masks they have made you wear in order to belong to the illusions they created. Don’t waste your life living them. Be what you are born to be.
