In this abstract, I have attempted to capture the essence of an Arabic street market scene. / I worked quickly and used instinct and subconscious, rather than technical composition skill. I have used glued painted paper shapes, then painted an impressionist watercolour scene around the collage. 16th Sept 2008 update. / I’m currently working on a larger, watercolour-only, version of this 14”x10”. / less abstract and more real, but with impressionistic aspects.

In my most recent series: ‘Face Navigation’ , I have used the fluidity of watercolour painting to express a personal perception of self and others. There is an awareness of the universal human condition through facial expression, and in some cases I create a progression of images, exploring the changing perception of a person by deconstructing facial recognition. As there is a shift over time in attitude or mood, there is a corresponding shift in visual interpretation. Sizes variable, average sizes 250×102 mm. I painted this abstract landscape several years ago, experimenting with color and light using watercolor and pastels on cold press watercolor paper. Really just having fun. Size is 8×10”.

An experiment with water droplets, glitter, a CD, wrapping paper and light. I had some metallic paper reflecting in the CD and the flash from my camera made it very interesting with all the glitter. This is the kind of thing I do when it’s too cold to go outside…. haha. Enjoy!

So many people are so talented but hide their potential afraid of intimidating the ones that are supposed to be not that “special”... They do not suspect that they would give the others the”permission” to flourish also! Totem #1 is the first of a series of pieces that represent an animal attached to a human figure, like if they are part of the same body. They can also be animal totems, if you prefer. The Totems carry also a very simple concept: our deep attachment to Nature as one single thing. In those pieces, I intend to make the human head always black and white and naturalist, while the animal is colorful and filled with abstract shapes. watercolor and pencil on cold press watercolor paper / 12×8.5
