  • “Äs we reached the summit, we were welcomed with a warm and golden sunset. Not for long though, as I glanced at the black clouds casting their shadows over the distant hills. If we were to stay dry we’d better hurry and set up camp.” Focal length 6m-20mm. Macro photograph of a rock. I took this one in my backyard, I have a rock retaining wall at the back of the garden. The black mountains in this photograph is actually created by the shadow cast by the sun. One of the few macro photos that I have taken in direct sunlight. If you look closely I think I was being observed by some little insect or spider in the crevice. Don’t think I would’ve been so close if I had know it was a spider! LOL!

  • “Climb if you must. But be prepared to fall down.” The old man’s voice shattered the daydreams the flowed through Ben’s young brain. / He ignored the comment and jogged up the deserted path toward the steep hillside ahead. Halfway up he stopped to enjoy the view. The colors of nature swept over him. The warm air blew the odors of sage and wild fennel and pine across his face which was flooded with sunlight. / He thought for a moment that this was where he wanted to be. From this point he could view the beauty of the scene completely. When he reached his destination, he would be looking back at where he had been as well as the other side. But he would not be able to enjoy the mountain silhouetted against the brilliant sun. / He ignored the thought and continued upward. He had to get to the top.

  • This to me gives this sacred place the feel I was looking for. It is in northwestern New Mexico in the Four Corners area where New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Utah all meet and is a very sacred place to the Navajo people. • Rain drizzled though crystals of mountain air. Clear, cold, clean. It seemed as if the air and water blended together seamlessly. I stepped over wet rock, through damp, glistening foliage. I pull aside a branch with glowing blue petals to focus on the lake. The harder I tried to see clearly the more blurred my vision became and suddenly I was seeing the landscape as a blank canvas. Memories paraded across the hillsides, swam through the sparkles on water, and danced in the mist. / Reality merged with memory. Time stood still. Rainy Memory is acrylic, Gesso and ink on card stock paper 15”x20” Sept. 2009. Abstract landscape from memory of Oregon / /

  • Acrylic on canvas. /

  • Taken looking down Crummock water in the lake district on a beautiful Autumn evening with friends. The colours were so striking I almost considered not processing to B&W! but felt the mono added to the brooding feel I had whilst taking this image. ________ Taken with a Canon 5D/24-70/10 stop ND + 3 stop grad. 6 mins exposure at f11.
