In this abstract, I have attempted to capture the essence of an Arabic street market scene. I have used glued painted paper shapes, then painted an impressionist watercolour scene around the collage.

Original / Hand Painted / Oil-on-canvas / 24 X 20 inches ( I CONDEMN THE WAY THE NAZIS MISUSED THIS 1000’S OF YEARS OLD HOLY SYMBOL ) • The Nava Graha Theory • Hindus and many other religions worldwide, since ancient times, believe that the Nava Grahas (The Nine Celestial Houses) influence man to a great extent. The nine houses being, The Sun in the centre, (Then clockwise from top) Venus, Moon, Mars, Ketu, Saturn, Rahu, Jupiter and The Mercury. Each one of the nine houses have their own distinct Color palettes, Gems, Metals, Foods (Grains), Moods, Abilities, Attributes, Positive and/or Negative influence on the Earth and subsequently the life on earth which includes us! • Hindus, Budhists and many religions, since ancient times have also recognised the power of the Holy symbol of Swastika and have worshipped it as a symbol of an auspicious beginning as well as in many other forms…. My interpretation of as to how the symbol of Swastika came into being is, by joining each house , with straight lines ( as shown in this painting). ( After speaking with many learned people and scouring the internet etc., I’m yet to find a reference to this theory anywhere, so I guess, it’s my own interpretation as an artist.) Or is it my discovery through my art, that the swastika, which is a 1000’s of years of old symbol, was originally formed from the Navgrahas? This question remains…unsolved, yet… Although…I CONDEMN THE WAY THE NAZIS MISUSED THIS 1000’S OF YEARS OLD HOLY SYMBOL…

In the corner sits a fool / the flowers of praise / once heaped upon her / now lie dead, turning to dust / borne away on the winds / of her own self disgust. In the corner sits a fool / her fine raiment / once worn so proudly / now ripped to shreds / by the talons of the many / whose den she accidently stumbled upon. thoughts, feelings, knowing-it’s a synapses of awareness. You get little gems along the grapevine and they are gold. alternatively, Steve (bodymechanic) says this reminds him of pyjamas. Obviously has a relaxing effect!

the sounds, the vibrations, the movement. The energy of life is well upon us and I felt the inspiration for this one has come from colour, music and flow. It doesn’t make much sense, but we structure it anyway. Some times it melts, we fit in the little moments of our true selves and reveal that our true selves are in everything we do. there are no signs we need, no hoops to jump through. We are already here and knowing where we are, we are there. Living. Enjoy.
