  • this is a poster for my first solo exhibition, without the text part… i will be exhibiting about a hundred A/4 size collages from the past six years, and some recent digital abstract work. hope it turns out okay :)

  • An overtly Christian theme I admit, and one with obvious religious symbology. This piece actually came about from a larger “paint wall” at an event I attended, where peoples random painting formed the shapes here, I then transcribed the piece to digital. Still not sure why I actually like this, I guess it must be the memory of that evening.

  • A series of macro abstracts based on one of my favourite flowers, the frangipani! This flower smells absolutely heavenly and I really miss it in winter and when I’m travelling away from home! In this series the flower is sitting in or near a small and divinely blue vase.

  • One of the largest crosses in the world with a little PS added.

  • It rained very hard last week in Los Angeles. This is such a rare event that it is best to stay home to avoid the confused drivers who do not know how to drive in the rain. I spent my day in my backyard. There is a pathway and stairs leading up to a big hill that Molly, my Irish Setter loves to hide her toys, our cell phones, glasses, shoes and other objects in her amusing game that is not as funny to us when our cell phone rings on our backyard hill. Eventually she brings back the items she has hid on the hill and puts them neatly our my room despite the mud and weeks it has been on her special hill. Given that she is a bird dog, she has translated her hunting instincts into hiding and then retrieving our personal items. The list of what she brings back in her retrieval game is numerous. The problem is by the time our cell phones and other items are brought back, we had to buy two new cell phones, glasses and occasionally a portable land line. Now we are smart and have phones that plug in to her dismay. She smiles with great pride when she returns out things so I wait weeks until some of my favorite shoes are returned. Luckily she takes shoes that I can clean since she is unaware the mud is not an attractive accessory. We don’t want to disappoint her since we often don’t have time to take her to the beach or on hikes so her game is critical to her work ethic and problem solving skills. Since we had large rain puddles, I took some photos that reflected the hill above our tiled path. The photo were enhanced to accentuate the colors and texture of the abstract photograph. Not all of the rain puddles Molly I and played in will show the reflections. Needless to say, we both were covered in dirt after our adventure. I also took many photos on the hill. The lighting was great after the rain and the water enhanced nature’s beautiful imagery. I see a cross in this painterly image and four distinct sections of this mysterious abstact. What do you perceive in my game of adult hidden pictures.

  • acrylic mixed media canvas. plaster, nail. 19.7×15.7 inch ALL my abstract works of art are mostley done intuitively; I am affected and inspired by music; no painting is done without music; music is inalienable. see my profile.. but this work I have “painting” at first in my sleeping dream; after this i tried to paint in real this work from my dream.. / At these times I had a couple of dreams of crucifixion. I was innocent but got crucified at one hand. It was tremendously painful and my weight pulled me off the crucifix. But the nail was still stuck in my wrist and I knew that I would bleed to death if I took it out. / The pain was unbearable so I took the nail off. Each time I then woke up very frightened. I couldn’t interprete the dreams exactly but they keep me worried during the days as well. / Then while dreaming that same dream again I heared a voice telling me: paint a picture about it! / I used to work with my dreams for years and receiving such a clear hint made me aware of the importance of it. / Up till then I only did abstract and intuitiv paintings so this was quite a challenge since I think I can’t paint objectively. But I was determind to try. / / First thing I did was a to make a plaster cast of my hand then I designed the crucifix. It took me a couple of days….. But still – something was missing. / The dices were a spontaneous idea but it made sense to me even though they didn’t appear in my dream. This idea made me understand the deep meaning of my dream: The die is cast! / I was in a hopeless situation and left at the situations mercy at that time. / / I was very proud of my picture and showed it to my friends, but they just couldn’t understand my pleasure and commented it as obscure. It also scared them. / Explanations to it didn’t help on the contrary it worried them even more. Nevertheless I gave it a place of honour and I said: If I will bring this situation to a good end I will take the picture off the wall. It is there now for 2 years ….... / / But the nightmares of crucifixion are getting less and less and aren’t as intense anymore. Sometimes it might help to turn your dreams into pictures. Means the pictures will have room in your consciousness, they receive attention and even better: you might get an answer or explanation from your subconscious… for a better view here the original work / this work was accompanied by this song: / was featured in Imperfectly 08/09 / was featured in Healing Through Art (HTA) 4.10.2009 / was featured in Art & Dis(ease) 5.10.2009
