Another image in the Abstract Nature series – images created totally in camera with minimal-to-no post processing. This image captures the setting sunlight dancing off spirit trees in the Jarrah forest in Western Australia. This image was Featured in the Impressionist Photography group on 5 August 2009. The challenge for me with this series is to create a visually pleasing abstract image without resorting to using effects in my graphics program. When I do make adjustments to my abstract photography, I limit myself to only minor adjustments in contrast and maybe a smidge of brightness. If the image needs anything more than minor tweakings, it goes into the discard pile!

Made with Ultra Fractal. I’m in a phase of being attracted to more pastel colours; I don’t choose to make vivid or soft coloured design, I just follow in what’s happening. Thank you for the support and faves! :) MY DA MUGS (clickable image)

I go back and forth about what abstracts should be…or not be. This reminds me of silver birch trees in a brilliant (but tentative) sunrise. But it also makes me think of bones, lots of bones. Maybe a chorus line under a hot spotlight…? Whatever it is or isn’t, I love looking at it. It began as a photoimage that was just silly, so I painted over it and then painted this. I don’t like “wasting” file space, so I frequently recycle this way. Abstract painting; Photoshop Elements 3. / /
Fractal abstract featuring sharp edges and angles. Created in Apophysis with editing in Photoshop Elements and Picasa.
