  • This photo was taken from Wild Horse Mountain facing towards Mt Beerwah, one of the Glasshouse Mountains. Beerwah, according to local Aboriginal legend, is the pregnant mother of this family of mountains. If you look at the left-hand side of the mountain you should be able to see the shape of a reclining pregnant woman.

  • New holland honey eater, up high in a Geraldton Wax tree, examines the skies around him. Photo taken in Kardinya, WA.

  • Girraween (Place of Flowers) National Park southern Queensland, Australia.

  • I nearly walked on this little guy at Darby River in Wilson’s Promontory National Park as he was beautifully camouflaged. Apparently because of the sand dunes in this particular part of the park, the wombats have evolved to be white, rather than their usual brown colour. I thought i had stumbled upon a rare albino wombat, but talking to the rangers, they are common in this area.

  • A dragonfly on a hand rail at Erskine Falls just out of Lorne. Lorne is a small town featuring on the Great Ocean Road on Victoria’s Surf Coast.

  • The roo’s stopped in their tracks at the sunrise spectacular.

  • We were out hiking and this little guy that I’d been hand-raising jumped into the pond after the family dog. I thought he’d sink like a stone, but there he was calmly paddling around. After a few minutes he trotted out and strolled away into the bush.

  • I went to the local lagoon (don’t you have one?) this morning looking for inspiration. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was. I now have a series that I am dedicating to the wildlife sanctuary known as Dangars Lagoon and to all those who maintain this wonderful oasis.

  • This amazing lizard is aptly named, very colourful. This individual is a male, and was photographed in a great woodland remnant east of Culcairn, in southern NSW, Australia. Steve is the Principal Ecologist at EnviroKey providing specialist ecological services across Australia.

  • FINALIST IN THE NOVEMBER + DECEMBER 2008 NATURAL DEVELOPMENTS GROUP. This Thick-tailed gecko Underwoodisaurus milii was found during hand searches in spinifex in western NSW. We enjoyed his company during this early morning photo shoot. This species is reasonably common, in particular, through the granite outcrops of the great dividing range. • Series Creek at Rainbow Beach, Queensland, Australia.

  • Taken at Port Douglas, Queensland. These birds have very keen vision and they are great, fierce hunters. Preys to the Kookaburra include rodents, fish, frogs, worms, lizards, and snakes. The Kookaburra has a very interesting way of hunting. Once the prey is caught, they will beat it up against a log or rock of some sort to kill it. Then they pound it with their beak to soften the meat. The prey is then either eaten whole or eaten one half at a time. After eating the prey, it will then regurgitate the food and save it in their nest for later meals.

  • Another random picture of a leaf.

  • This wattlebird was so engrossed in raiding the flowers it seemed to be totally oblivious to me, I really was only about 3 metres away from it. / I’m told the flower is known as redhot pokers.

  • On the flats near Coonamble, NSW Emu’s are found, this one appeared to be having a bad hair day!

  • Our local golf course backs on to hundreds of square kilometers of open bush and this guy was on his way from the bush to one of the dams on the course for a drink. He must have thought my camera was a tasty snack but I didn’t hang around to find that out for sure

  • Taken at Burrinjuck Waters State Park. Burrinjuck is a nature reserve & the site of the first major dam built for irrigation in New South Wales. It is home to many native animals. Meet just a couple.

  • Reflections in a dew/rain drop hanging from a red grevillea.

  • Australian bush at morning.

  • This guy was sunning himself on a rock on the other side of Manning Creek (Gibb River Road, Kimberley). We swam across on our way to the falls. He was quite timid and also pretty large. These creatures are quite common in the Kimberley but it was a privelege to see one so large.
