They became even more significant to me after I had breast cancer as a symbol of renewal and hope. Butterfly / You please my eye / as you flutter by. • I love this jewelry-like Christmas string lights that I got last year (on sale! because it was a week before Christmas). Each light slowly fades from one color to the next that creates a gentle rolling wave effect. It’s like looking at a moving rainbow.

  • ‘Advance Australia Fair’ Australians all let us rejoice, / For we are young and free; / We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil; / Our home is girt by sea; / Our land abounds in nature’s gifts / Of beauty rich and rare; / In history’s page, let every stage / Advance Australia Fair. In joyful strains then let us sing, / Advance Australia Fair. Beneath our radiant Southern Cross / We’ll toil with hearts and hands; / To make this Commonwealth of ours / Renowned of all the lands; / For those who’ve come across the seas / We’ve boundless plains to share; / With courage let us all combine / To Advance Australia Fair. In joyful strains then let us sing, / Advance Australia Fair. ‘Advance Australia Fair’ is the national anthem of Australia. A revised version of a late nineteenth century patriotic song, it was officially declared the national anthem on 19 April 1984. / Peter Dodds McCormick, a Scot, composed ‘Advance Australia Fair’ under the pen-name ‘Amicus’ (amicus is the Latin word for ‘friend’). It was first performed in Sydney on Saint Andrew’s Day, 1878. An amended version was also sung by a choir of 10,000 at the inauguration of the Commonwealth of Australia on 1 January, 1901. In 1907, the Australian Government awarded McCormick £100 for his composition. Peter McCormick died in 1916 and ‘Advance Australia Fair’ became free of copyright in 1966. The Commonwealth of Australia, however, does copyright the officially proclaimed lyrics and particular arrangements of music. Non-commercial public use of the anthem is permitted, but commercial use requires permission. Some of the original words of the song have been changed for the official version. ‘Australia’s sons let us rejoice’ was the original first line; this has been replaced with ‘Australians all let us rejoice’. In the third verse of the original song, two lines were changed—‘To make our youthful Commonwealth’ became ‘To make this Commonwealth of ours’, and ‘For loyal sons beyond the seas’ became ‘For those who’ve come across the seas’.

  • Six Word Story of The Day
    by Lisa Weber

Liars abound, / Seeking alliances, / Vengeance Reign!

Their are those that use platforms to hurt others but only for the sake of gaining trust of the unsuspected . There comes a time when all will be disclosed and the truth shines through but for many they will be lured in by these minions of satan and they too will fall aside to the wasteland of destruction! Let Christs Army reign down and devour them that are and those that follow.

I lay down for a nap today, and, eventually, I had a dream that I was awake, it was night time, I was tired and wanted sleep, but I was reading my book. Fortunately, I am a person who loves reading, so I roused myself to see if I could read a little more .. and found myself awake, this afternoon. I do wonder, what would have happened if I had consented to further sleep.

I am blown away by the talent out there (in here). Well done redbubble for giving all these amazingly creative people a forum for their work. And possibly a conduit to bigger and better things. The fact that there is such a supportive community in redbubble is an achievement in itself. I hang out in a few of ‘these types’ of sites – utube, flickr, blogs … but this is the only one I’ve come across so far with that feel about it. Amazing. Brilliant. Love it. Thank you. / I now understand why (as a newbie earlier this week but feeling quite at home now – it’s Wednesday afterall) there were posts about how addictive this little red bubble is. It’s true. I have divorce papers to fill out (really), a sick leave application form to finish and post, a son with a broken foot playing Halo on xbox in the loungeroom (he was banned from Halo until he turned 16 – he’s now 16 and a half so I relented .. shudder) .... lots and LOTS of other things to be doing. But I can’t get off this site! I would kill (not quite, I’m a Buddhist afterall) for a fresh copy of Photoshop so I can convert the plethora (I would normally say shitloads there but thought I should keep it clean) of PSDs I have created into jpgs so I can upload and SHOW OFF. Love it. I’ll be back.
