  • Old abandoned farm house I came across in the middle of one of the many apple orchards here in Michigan. For some reason, this is my favorite piece in my portfolio. I can’t figure out exactly why, it just is. I like the way it almost glows, yet it’s so dark. Black and White HDR —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / This piece can be found in my Abandoned Calendar. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— View More Old/Abandoned Buildings /

  • This abandoned house was found on the highway, just out of Clare (2 hours north of Adelaide), South Australia, Australia. I have changed it to sepia to add to the mood. This was taken with a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera.

  • The old lighthouse now stands empty and abandoned after years of faithful service to the sea’s wayward travelers, just to be cast aside and never to be used again. • I found this little abandoned church in the prairies in the middle of no where in Alberta .. nothing was around it for miles and miles …... I suppose at one time someone live near by to go to it ... I just had to play with the effects on it

  • House is on top of a hill in Swan Valley Idaho… Art is interpreted differently as everything is interpreted differently thru a persons eyes. Some might see this as a great house with alot af deapth an A+ picture taking location. Others might connect with it on a deeper more emotional level. They may view themselves as an empty house sitting alone on top of a hill in the middle of nowhere. This might be what some strive for…isolation and silence. Whatever stirs that spark of magic that is still deep down that hasent yet been combed out, spanked out or washed out as you grew to who you are today..Take that magic and run with it!!!!

  • Published in DIGITAL PHOTO magazine. There exists a whole row of abandoned buildings along Mormon Row, a phtotgraphic delight, if you don’t mind sharing it with a whole bunch of other photographers ! Deservedly popular , backed up as it is by the amazing Teton mountain range. The town of Jackson is nearby. / The Mormon people were evicted when the National Park was created. I decided to give this the HDR and Orton treatment, to bring out the texture of the wood, and add a little drama to the scene. Shot on my Canon EOS 40D,mounted on tripod, polarising filter, iso 100, f22, 1/30 sec, cloudy WB, RAW file, processed in Photomatix, with further adjustments in PS CS3, and a little Orton applied. Finished with LAB colour to oomph it up a bit ! • Abandoned farm house I came across in Southwest Saskatchewan, while I was out on a wedding shoot! / Apparently this house a been declared a heritage site in the area!

  • Suisinish is an abandoned village reached after a rough hour- long walk from Kilbride, near Torrin, Isle of Skye. / This old cottage is too modern to have been one of the dwellings where the folk were evicted to make way for the sheep, which were more profitable to the greedy landowners of the time. Many of the families were separated, and forced to emigrate to America, Canada, and Australia. / I cannot begin to feel their anguish. / There are many ruins scattered around the Brae (hillside), evidence of a thriving, close-knit community torn apart by human greed. Maybe this bulding was built early in the twentieth century, I have no idea and can find no information. / Back to the present….. / There was quite a wait for some usable light, a chilly fierce wind was blowing, rain was brewing, nothing new ! We sat in the shelter of one of those deserted ruins, eating a cheese piece, ( sandwich ) and a cheering cup of hot coffee from the thermos, reflecting on how ‘they’ lived then, compared to us nowadays, and watching the sheep that are now the only inhabitants of this beautiful place. / Rowan trees were planted in the belief they kept evil spirits away, and it is considered very bad luck to cut one down, even today ! This cottage is surrounded by them, I guess the magic didn’t work. A three shot HDR. CanonEOS 40D mounted on tripod, iso 100, auto wb, f22, RAW files converted in Photomatix, and touched up in Adobe CS3. / A little Orton also applied to ‘pop’ the texture of the stone. / A slight vignette added.
