  • I’m somewhat fascinated by these old houses that have no paint left on them at all except for the door. This photo was accepted into the Adirondack Artists’ Guild 2008 Juried Art Competition in Saranac Lake, NY. There were 217 works submitted to the competition and 87 were accepted.

  • A picture of part of a ward in an abandoned mental asylum. I think this picture is given an extra spooky edge and a bit of a story by the fact that one of the beds has a pair of shoes sitting waiting at the bottom as if the occupant may be back any minute.

  • “Mr Wegg, if you was brought here loose in a bag to be articulated, I’d name your smallest bones blindfold equally with your largest, as fast as I could pick ‘em out, and I’d sort ‘em all, and sort your vertebrae, in a manner that would equally surprise and charm you.” – Mr. Venus, Articulator – from the book Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens Stock: Bird: Archistock http://archistock.deviantart.com/art/Creepy-Bird-77455534 / Surgeon’s stuff: Lockstock http://lockstock.deviantart.com/art/Surgeon-s-Table-01-10250561 / Hat: Peace-of-art http://peace-of-art.deviantart.com/art/Two-Top-Hats-61892310 / http://www.sxc.hu/photo/546034 My own stock: Foxstox http://foxstox.deviantart.com/art/Abandoned-Farmhouse-83028054 / textures, all else – are mine. ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires

  • It’s a sad thing, once this window was beautiful, opened to the breezes of a summer day, with happy and loving people to view natures beauty, but now it sits Pained and Broken like the souls that once occupied this house..death came too fast and too sudden…........ • Alone, she prays for her chance to escape, he’s had her held here for what seems like months..she keeps going back to that day she was snatched from her world, it was a beautiful day, she took that short walk through the woods to the little lake that she has come to since she was a little girl, not knowing the evil that was lurking and watching, and now she’s here, held against her will..his prisoner.. she lays down on the dirt floor, closes her eyes and escapes to her dreams..the dreams of being Anywhere BUT here. Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR Lens I do believe this is actually farmers quarters, there were 3 of these houses right next to each other.

  • After spending the whole day with some fellow Keystone State group members at Rickett’s Glen, we descended on this old abandoned house on Route 487, a rural road near Benton, PA. The sun was already setting and it was perfectly dark and creepy just in time for Halloween! Taken 10/26/09 I combined two layers (dark and light exposure) to create this image.

  • I found this behind a building in a small alley way, I gotta say that door caught my eye..it looks as if it is closed down, nothing really inside..This is the true color of the door, I just turned the wall b/w. Nikon D90 / 18-200mm VR Lens /
