This is the old general hospital… / / It was built in 1897 and was home to Newfoundlands first operating room. The hospital has been closed and condemed for many many years now. Rumor has it that many dark and hideous things were done behind its doors, things that are better left forgotten… Only memories are left now that can haunt its dark and terrifying hallways. / / Another view of The Old General: / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /
This photo was taken in a local ruined building, its a fantastic place, great for photography….. I really liked this photo because of the incorporation of the band posters on the wall, a friend and i spent about an hour just looking at the layers and layers of posters on the walls, and my friend even found a poster of his dads old band in one of the rooms from about 30 years ago…
Featured in “The Wild West Show” – June 2009. Rhyolite, Nevada is a ghost town just outside the boundary of Death Valley National Park. It was a town built on gold and the hopes and dreams that the precious metal inspires. Founded in 1904 and abandoned only 15 years later in 1919, it was a very short-lived community. Sorry for those people who have seen this before or made comment, I had trouble with it not showing in watchlists or groups so have re-loaded it. Many thanks to those who commented in the journal forum on the shot. Image from the recent shoot at the Cellulose Factory, (Old paper mill) between Snuggery and Millicent in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia. The mill has not operated for many years but areas are being done up slowly by the new owners for a number of businesses. On a bit of a location scout with Biggzie before the upcoming regional visit by Tony Ryan from melbourne with his workshops. Seems no-ones turned the lights back on for many a year… Shot with a Canon 400D 15-55 lens. Processed in Photoshop CS3. External speedlight used for this shot.

Seems when they closed down the old Cellulose cardboard factory at Snuggery, near Millicent South Australia, they just forgot to ‘take a seat’..... Shot recently during a model shoot at the site with Heather and Jacq, late afternoon light filtering into the ruined upstairs area of the factory. Canon 400D – 17-85 lens.

This is a shot I’ve took in a very creepy location, an abandoned city. This place is very capturing and can truly amaze the visitor. / From this shot you can see how it appears to be a place outside any possible imagination. / Walls are completely ruined and tagged by writers, the nature is growing wildly around, and no signs of human beings all around. / It’s very scary now in the fall, when sun sets so early. This shot is an unique capture and no post production was made.
Another shot of the old Cement Works in Geelong. / Bleach by-pass with 3 textures layers plus painted overlay blend-mode layer. / Nikon D300 with 12 – 24 mm wide angle lens
