  • This is an oil pastel drawing I’ve drawn based on this “worm’s eye view” photo of a Porsche 944 taken by putting the camera directly onto the pavement. The oil pastel colouring took a little less than two weeks, but I spent more time than usual on the pencil “skeleton” so that the final drawing would be a little more accurate than my previous oil pastels. I think the extra pencil time was worth it, as the final result looks a bit more “three dimensional” than my previous works, though that also has to do with the unusual low-angle perspective from the original photo. The tires were a weakness in the previous oil pastel drawings, so I’m pleased with how “solid” they look in this shot, even if they’re not completely perfect. The yellow-grey stuff in the foreground is supposed to be the parking lot pavement. This is the first drawing that I’ve finished since this oil pastel drawing of a Ferrari Mondial that I completed on New Year’s Day. I started a few more drawings, but I was demotivated because I tried to get a local gallery interested in my work but they never even e-mailed me back to say they hated it. I’m over that mini-depression now, and I hope to be creating art again at a more regular pace this summer
