Based on a line Otto said in an episode of The Simpsons. I think it was “A Streetcar Named Marge”, when all the stanley’s have to take off their shirts and when Llewellyn sees Otto’s chest Tattoo, Otto says “Note the snake wrapped around the naked chick.”. / It always stuck with me as a cool image.

This is kind of a tribute to a band that started in my hometown of St.Louis, Mo. They were called Pavlov’s Dog. I met Doug Rayburn, one of the members of the group, when I was bartending at “The St.Louis Opera House”. I think Doug is producing music now at the Benton Park studio in St.L. Through Doug, I had a chance to meet the lead singer, David Surkamp. I even got to go to a Blasters concert with him once, when he was doing a music critique of that show for the local newspaper. David’s voice was remarkable. He can hit these notes that are so high and intense that it made your teeth chatter. Some have compared him to Getty Lee of Rush, But I think David’s voice was in a league of its own. They combined driving rock and roll with intricate classical string stuff that sounded like what I would expect to hear in a gypsy camp. It was amazing. I only got to see them perform a few times for reunion shows, but was able to see Doug and David play in their latest endeavors pretty frequently. The band had an interesting career to say the least. they became quite popular in Europe and Australia. There ended up being 4 albumns that I know of. I recently stumbled onto a few websites of the band and it’s members, but most are old, and not being kept up. It’s a shame. They were truly a unique experience back in the 70’s and 80’s. I have been feeling a bit homesick lately, so finding the sites, and playing the music brought back some of the best memories of that time in my life. I have tried to contact them, and ask if it was ok to use this artwork, but the email addresses are outdated, Maybe they will see this, and at least write and tell me it sucks! Haaaa! I hope they are all well, and still giving their fans a great show, wherever they are. If anybody out there saw PD play, drop me a note and tell me where and when. And if you happen to run into one of the guys, please tell them Don says “Hi”, and that their music totally freaks out Thai people! Haaaa! Thanks.

This stops the damned stuff coming off in the wash and covering all your washing in flecks of glitter for the next 20 years! If you want ‘real glitter’ you’ll have to skip off to the local shop, buy a big tube of UHU and a bag of chopped-up foil flakes and glue the stuff on.

I spent the afternoon at a charity auction today and was able to enjoy a lot of pretty amazing music. Leeroy Stager was one of those talents. Listen to A Hundred Million Reasons Leeroy Stagger is a Canadian alternative country singer-songwriter. Raised in rural British Columbia, Stagger worked in several local bands until gaining attention from acts such as Hot Hot Heat and Carolyn Mark. Reinventing himself as a singer-songwriter, he released his debut independent EP, Six Tales of Danger, in 2002.
