as always – click image for a better view / / / The last glow of the sun bounces off the sky behind me, ever so beautifully painting the white railing on the jetty with it’s soft warm hues… / On this evening only one lone seagull perches…perhaps watching the giant sting ray that is gliding through the shallows below… / / / / Fuji G617 – no cropping,no stitching. Clicking on the image for a more detailed view is highly recomended. The last glow of the day gently renders the scene in soft hues.An incoming tide and swell has already forced me from my original composition and threatens to do so again…It’s a tedious wait for the exposure to finish without my gear and I getting wet ! / When viewed even at only 30% of the original 2 Sooty oyster catcher birds can sharply be seen on the rock outcrop in the right of frame. / Fuji G617 – Velvia 100F. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / / see more of my TRUE panoramic photography by clicking on the image below / / -

  • From the high plains to the deserts – the Eucalyptus is botanically iconic to Australia. With over 700 species ranging from stunted shrubs in the arid regions to the tallest flowering plant on the planet, their diversity is as grand as their stature. Most species are not frost or cold tolerant (temps down to -5C) though there is one species that lives in the alps of the mainland affectionately known as the ’snow gum’. (Eucalyptus pauciflora ). Whilst three other cold tolerant species exist in the highlands of central Tasmania. Growing as woodlands or open woodlands from 1300m-1800m ASL in Tasmania,Victoria and New South Wales where they form the altitudinal limit of the tree line. The ’snow gum’ can become a gnarled old warrior as it eeks out an existance in poor soil with short growing seasons in harsh climates. Sometimes shedding bark revealing bright green, yellow or even orange-red under bark. It certainly makes for a brilliant dash of colour particularly in the snow. When in these alpine regions I often find it hard not to get ‘lost’ in their beauty and character and always find myself searching for those special individuals. Specimans with so much character that they speak for themselves. • As always – click image for a better view / / A chilly morning on the Mt William range sees cloud and mist plummet off the ridgeline as the colder air sinks into the shadows of the range. Meanwhile the rising sun warms the rockfaces and slopes to the west, forcing the cold damp air to warm, rise and dry – thus lifting and dissapating the ‘downstream flow’ of this ‘waterfall of clouds’. / This ongoing spectacle continued for several hours and was a real highlight to watch and experience ! / / / / Fuji G617 – no cropping,no stitching. • Rainbow glow
    by Tony Middleton

    US$5.65–US$129.20

Fallen casuarinas that tumbled to the water from wave erosion during deep low pressure systems in 2007 and 2008 line the beaches near Inkskip point in SEQ. / The view sweeps around to the famous coloured dunes of Rainbow beach and onwards to Double Island point and on large versions the glow from the lighthouse that adorns this point can be seen. / Fuji G617 – Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / see more of my TRUE panoramic photography by clicking on the image below / /

  • solitary defiance
    by Tony Middleton

    US$5.65–US$129.20

An extremely weathered old jetty grimly stands defiant amidst the advancing mangroves in Westernport Bay. The mozzies and knee deep mud was well worth the experience of witnessing the twilight from this location. / Fuji G617 – Velvia 100F. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / / see more of my TRUE panoramic photography by clicking on the image below / / -

  • Inverloch jetty

After a run of foggy mornings during May in southern Victoria I was fortunate enough to photograph this location in one of two ways that I photographically envisage it. / Fuji G617 – Velvia 100F. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / see more of my TRUE panoramic photography by clicking on the image below / /

    by Tony Middleton

Click on the image for a more detailed view. The last glow of the sun kisses the western flank of some coastal instability which rapidly develops into a short lived cold air thunderstorm. As this light is reflected in small puddles in the foreground waves surge through rock platforms generating waterfalls into the larger channels. / Fuji G617 – Velvia 100F. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / see more of my TRUE panoramic photography by clicking on the image below / /

  • endless calm
    by Tony Middleton

    US$5.65–US$129.20

Located in the outback Qld I found myself down within this gorge…After a hot walk down into the gorge proper I was rewarded with a lovely calm pool sprawling along the sandstone wall. Knowing that the gorge walls would shadow this composition well before sunset I sat, listened, smelt and tasted my surrounds. Then in the final moments as the shadows encroached I took this photograph. • Camping on the Qld central coast one night I took the opportunity to do a star trail photograph on my Fuji 6×17 camera. Using a spotlight I delicately painted in the dune and Pandanus during this 5.5hr exposure. • ghost gum
    by Tony Middleton

    US$5.65–US$129.20

I recently had the priviledge of travelling through central Australia. I scouted out this composition the day before taking this shot. With my planned return the following day and the show exceeded all expectations in a display of desert light and beauty.Glowing in the twilight, a lone ghost gum stands starkly and majestically. The scene backdropped by the jaw dropping West Macdonnell ranges. by Tony Middleton

    US$5.65–US$129.20

as always – click image for a better view / / / The sun gathers strength as it rises higher through the thick smoke haze generated by countless controlled burns across Gippsland over the preceding days. / Fuji G617 – no cropping,no stitching. • as always please click on the image for a better view.. A windy evening looking up Tidal river towards the cloud capped Mt. Latrobe. With any chance of nice light gone because of the weather. I had a perception that the very strong winds could add to a moody image by creating leading lines on the river surface with a longer exposure. I hope you like the resultant photograph. / / / / Fuji G617 – no cropping,no stitching. by Tony Middleton

    US$5.65–US$129.20

as always – click image for a better view / / / I had been planning on shooting pelicans on the poles of this pier, but the composition and sunset sky just was not working… So the mild autumn evening had me sticking about a bit longer. Under the rise if a near full moon I came up with this shot. / Fuji G617 – no cropping,no stitching. • peaceful fog
    by Tony Middleton

    US$5.65–US$129.20

As always – click image for a more detailed view / / A chilly morning on the Powlett river…cold air descends from the hinterland and a slow moving fog drifts throughout the basin before exiting the river mouth in a spectacular plume into Bass Strait. / Here I try in vain to sneak up on a Royal Spoonbill feeding from on this mirror islet..alas – it flees to the opposing river bank as I meter this special scene. stand up now and have your say for our future – tell the Victorian Labor government – ‘NO DESALINATION’ more info @ yourwateryoursay.org – 100% of all profits I make on this goes to this crucial campaign that effects ALL of us. / / Fuji G617 – Velvia 100F, digitally converted to true B&W. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / see more of my TRUE panoramic photography by clicking on the image below / / see more photography of this beautiful region under threat below / /

  • Phillip Island bridge

    US$5.65–US$129.20

Clicking on the image for a more detailed view is highly recomended. A bit different from my more nature and environment based subject that I normally upload…But this is yet another composition that I had wanted to capture for a long time but couldn’t think of a good way to do it. The run of foggy mornings in the last week made me curious to explore it in these conditions.I like the result, I feel it has a smooth yet coldness emotion… / Fuji G617 – Velvia 100F. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / / see more of my TRUE panoramic photography by clicking on the image below / / -

as always please click on the image to see greater detail and a larger view / / The coastal cliffs around the Great Otway NP glow vibrantly in the first light of the morning. After coming to this location over many years I finally got an image I like even though the sunrise’s themselves this trip were ‘nice’...they were not sensational, so I feel pretty happy with this result. / / / Fuji G617 – no cropping,no stitching. • As always please click on the image for a larger more detailed view. / I took this photograph last week (02-04-2008) on the day that gale force northerly winds ripped through the state of Victoria. The winds raised dust in the north west to central west of the state, some of which eventually blew into Bass Strait. / Here on the South Gippsland coast the blanket of red-brown dust approaches and crosses Bass Strait ahead of the rainband. I had to find a place of relative shelter from the 100km/h winds to capture this amazing scene before me. With the shores protected from the winds by the towering cliffs the water several hundred meters offshore was almost a blur with ‘reverse’ whitecaps. The ocean took on an incredible cobalt blue colour whilst the sky looked eerie and from another planet.
