You may wonder what I mean with this title, but it is easy enough once you realize that this is another shot taken on 23rd September 2007. Yes, on that day I crossed the bridge to 64. Not a bad start, I can say, looking back now to this lightful morning and the weeks and months after that. Again taken on the grounds of the country-house Groeneveld near Baarn in the Netherlands. Digital painting using a photograph of tree trunk as the inspiration for the subject matter and then I use PhotoPlus6 for air-brushing, colouring, smudging, painting, brightness/contrast & sizing. I use the mouse with the smudge tool to move the colours around and into the shapes desired as I don’t have a Wacom tablet. This was done as a take on the Beatles song “When I’m 64” as I was inspired by what looked like two elderly people in the photograph (below) that gave me the inspiration to paint this work. The other faces depicting masks they may have worn as younger people.
