A very huge Thank you to the person the bought / Heaven Shining Down On Me This photo has definately been my Diamond in the Rough finding. I cannot believe the comments and sales on this picture, and am really in a lose for words on how awesome that makes me feel to have someone own this photo. Maybe I need to re-create it with my new camera. LOL

  • One Photo Per Day II : 15th April - 5th May
    by berndt2

continues from part 1 Another batch …

continues from part 1 Another batch of shots-per-day. I’m enjoying the challenge so far. Being in a new country makes taking your camera everywhere a lot easier! / 15th April. Why I like drinking coffee at Puccino’s in St Albans. Even the sugar packets contain subversive messages like “Pour coffee into sachet”, “Rattle in background to create atmos”(phere) and “Pillow for Earphone”. And when you buy a coffee they give you a free “Stupid little biscuit”, and if you pay your bill you’ll receive a “Useless bit of chocolate”. Fun! / 16th April. Somewhere near Convent Garden walking to make time before an interview I saw this little mural on a wall. Eek! / 17th April. Okay, so what if the interview with ‘Group MB’ ended up being rather uncomfortable if not outright confrontational? Check out the cute Mini parked near their offices! / 18th April. St Albans. I can write 5000+word Amazing Race Recaps. But this road sign? I’m speechless. Also… intrigued. / 19th April. Roadsign, en route to St Albans. There used to be Romans here. Now they’re just called Italians. / 20th April. Kings Cross St Pancras Station. Shadowy, mysterious figures admiring the iron and glass canopy, and/or plotting shadowy mysterious things. / 21st April. Just because I’m on my way to a job interview doesn’t mean I don’t notice the little things. (And then, in the job interview, I ended up doing the opposite. Not to worry : at least the photo turned out fine) / 22nd April. Street Art and Gallery Art (and some kind of Exterior Wiring) in London. St Giles Street, I think it was. Taken about twenty minutes prior to an interview with EDialog. (That’s how I relax!) / 23rd April. View of the Thames from the rather unfortunately named town of “Staines” (it’s not that dirty, to be honest. And they have an HMV and a Costas Coffee in their town. Very civilised). I was there for a interview with BUPA. And, a coffee. / 24th April. St Albans. “Commit No Nuisance” advises the possibly ancient, and intriguingly Hobbit-sized door of the St Albans clock tower. And you have to love the masonry-work, from an age where a wall wasn’t a wall if you couldn’t shave yourself by rubbing your chin against it. (No interviews today) / 25th April. Yes, I had an NI Number interview. Yes, I had an interview with Virgin Mobile in Hook. Yes, I was fielding increasingly harrowing calls from a rival Recruitment Agent. And yes, it was Anzac Day. But sometimes… just sometimes… it’s got to be all about being friendly to the Orang-Utans. / 26th April. Watford. Apparently London has more CCTV Cameras than any other place on Earth. Which is kind of irritating in terms of what it says about national paranoia. And this is freaking WATFORD, man. Near as I can tell its global strategic value (no offence if you live there) is next to nil. Even though among other things it has an HMV and a Nero’s (which is even better than Costas for coffee, I reckon) / 27th April. Elephant & Castle. Hey, it’s a Pepsi Raw Billboard! And you know, I don’t usually drink my Pepsi naked, but I encourage good looking females to do so. (We were in the area for Yum Cha, and the billboard was just a bonus. The ‘Monks Vegetable Tofu Parcels’ with “Wood Eared Fungus” were delicious.) / 28th April. Meet Me At The Ritz… I was in town to notify the Austrian Embassy that I was going to be in London for at least 3 months. I don’t think they cared, much. Still, there was an Aston Martin DB9 parked nearby and it was a pleasant/rainy/cloudy/sunny day (in that order) so I wasn’t too concerned. / 29th April: I like the fact that they’ll catch you when you Digress! I was in The City to hunt down sweet chili sauce in a large bottle, find some Aloe Vera juice, and get my hands on a free Ben&Jerry Icecream. Result : 3 from 3. Success! / 30th April. St Albans’ “The Boot” Inn. Today was another quiet day in England, at least from where I was sitting. Today’s highlight: I bought an umbrella. / 1st May. I actually took a lot of photos in London today, many of them nice and pleasant, or showing the artistic and innovative side of London. However, in the end, I’m going with this one, because the UK obsession with CCTV is completely ridiculous and well beyond the point of paranoia. And I’m glad somebody had the guts to write it. Next to a CCTV camera. / 2nd May. Mysterious creeping moss attacks flower-like stalk micro-plants in on St Albans railway station wall. These kinds of battles rage around us every day. Yes, I’m still unemployed. I have time to ponder these things. / 3rd May. Lakes District Long Weekend, and here we have another brick in Hadrian’s Wall (Oh, come on. Like you wouldn’t make that exact same joke!) / 4th May. Lakes District Long Weekend. True to rumours you may have heard, the Lakes District does in fact contain lakes. / 5th May. Lakes District river cruise. There’s something to be said in favour of using stones over wire fencing to divide paddocks. (Electrifying stone fences, I’m told, is not easy however) ... to be continued! / .... right here

  • One Photo Per Day V : 16th June - 5th July
    by berndt2

continues from part IV Scotland, Squ…

continues from part IV Scotland, Squirrels, Harry Potter, Charlize Theron, Sunsets at five minutes before midnight, and a Mercedes McLaren 722/SLR. If I said The Hoff features as well, would you even believe me? It all happened…. / June 16th. “When Dreaming Ends”. Was my rather morose mood due to Austria losing 1-0 to Germany; five vodka and Pepsis consumed about the same time; some kind of relationship realisation; or just another day in futile pursuit of Virgin’s nebulous IT Department? Hard to say.. / June 17th. St Pauls Church in Convent Garden. Later that day, actresses Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller were besieged by the Paparazzi near our building at work. But I missed that. Because I’m diligent at work. (Mostly) / Subject: Actress and Academy Award Winner Charlize Theron. / Location: Leicester Square, London / Camera: Pentax K10D / Pretty Happy he didn’t go to Ikea instead that evening: Me! / June 19th, London outside Baker Street station. I’m guessing this is some kind of joke/art installation? That CCTV has additional CCTVs in a holster! / June 20th. 35 days after starting at Virgin, I FINALLY have SAS installed on my laptop. In the feedback form (!) I was asked to fill out on the IT Department (!), I stopped short of saying “in all likelihood they are actively attempting to undermine the ordinary course of business of the company”. / June 21st. A bee’s eye view of the strawberry field where we went fruit picking today. Time passed. Fruit was picked, and fruit was eaten. And afterwards… we had WAFFLES! / June 22nd. The British Museum. Filled with artifacts stolen… uh… donated… umm… “liberated” from various civilisations around the world. Also, it’s an ideal place to discuss among friends the point at which ‘grave-robbing’ becomes ‘archaeology’. (Just kidding. I love the place. Free admission, too!) / June 23rd. Statue of fictional detective Sherlock Holmes outside the appropriately-named Baker Street station. I was there as part of my “I’m-a-geek-and-I’m-still-single” tour of every Caffe Nero in London (there’s something like sixty). / June 24th. Here’s Platform nine-and-three-quarters at Kings Cross Station, a reference to the Harry Potter series. If you haven’t heard of Harry Potter, maybe you’re one of those people from a lost tribe of the Amazon. If so : welcome, and hopefully you’re enjoying the internet. The porn is somewhere over there>> / June 25th. Again I had no luck seeing a Bugatti Veyron at the Bentley Dealership in Mayfair that distributes them. However, I did manage to see this truly stunning Mercedes McLaren SLR 722 near Harrods. (To use an analogy, that’s like Jessica Biel bailing on dinner, then having Giselle Bundchen call you moments later asking if you’d like to go out. Sort of.) / 26th June. Action shot on Baker Street. I hear so many police sirens daily I suspect that either there’s an invisible all-out apocalyptic crime war going on in London, or it’s a subtle means of control by keeping everyone in a state of constant fear. Yay, Police! / 27th June. I had no idea who Agyness Deyn was prior to today when she was interviewed by BBC1, and I’m still kind of hazy right now, too. The only thing I was impressed by is that I managed to shoot between the beret of the Paparazzi to my left and the ponytail of the Paparazzi to my right. Stupid Paparazzi. / 28th June. It was a close call between this photo and a taxi service advertisement in Watford, showing a guy being hugged by two girls with the caption “you’ve pulled, now grab your coat” (and call a cab). Oddly, and just for once, propriety prevailed. / 29th June. Greenwich has the Royal Observatory, the International Dateline, buildings designed by Christopher Wren, the Cutty Sark and the jacket that Admiral Lord Nelson wore on the day he died at the battle of Trafalgar. Oh, and Greenwich also has squirrels. / 30th June. St Albans Railway Station at late sunset (about 23:15). In order to achieve their stated 93% ‘on-time’ train punctuality average, First Capital Connect would need to be scheduling dozens and dozens of trains around midnight when nobody needs them. But I saw none. / 1st July. Church in the Temple area. I was there because overhead cable problems had caused monstrous delays on the train line heading north. The temperature that caused it was… uh… 27 degrees celsius. I’m sceptical. / 2nd July. Today I was in Hook (the photo is closer to Waterloo Station, however. I’ll wait while you get that Abba song out of your head). / 3rd July. David ‘The Hoff’ Hasselhoff walking out of the BBC1 studios, London. Yes, I saw and photographed The Hoff. Yes, you may touch me. Short of Mercury crashing into the Sun, pretty much nothing was going to trump this as photo for the day. / 4th July. The weekend means it’s time to go somewhere. In this case, Scotland. This is about as late as ‘photos of the day’ get – taken about five minutes before midnight at Loch Linnhe, about two hours north of Glasgow. / 5th July. Scotland Day 2. This is apparently the most photographed castle in Scotland – Eilean Donan near Kyle Lochalsch. I did my bit in that regard – about two dozen. Okay, maybe three. That was a pretty cool past 20 days. Hopefully, the next 20 days can manage to get close! Here’s the answer to that question

  • Jordy Update (Wed 5th Nov 2008)

Well I was meant to take Jordy to the Vet (who was visiting town today) but I ended up rushing him into the Vet 45mins away yesterday after a sleepless night with him on Monday. I have him home with me again, he stayed in there over night because he had eaten Monday morning and they didn’t want to put him under on the day because of that. Sunday night while I was petting him in the quiet in bed, I could hear strange noises coming from his head. At first I thought it was the sound of static, but it wasn’t making the noise when I stroked his back, so I listened closer and a huge fear struck me. It sounded as if the skin on his head was dead and was crinkling as I petted him. I panicked!!! I thought that the Operation months ago had failed and that the blood supply to his skin there had stopped and I also linked the blood from his eye to that. The vet assured me that his skin was fine. She suggested it might have been trapped air under the skin. Although she explained something to me that I didn’t understand before now properly….. Jordy isn’t cured of cancer. :( As a matter of fact it is just going to get worse for him and what I am doing is just prolonging his life (and therefore maybe also … his pain) :( The cancer he has on his eyelid is not curable … just treatable. I can keep taking him to have bits and pieces of it frozen off … but it will get worse and worse and his pain will continue to get worse also. I am not sure now if I should be continuing to keep the treatment up or not :( This visit alone cost me just under $400. It’s money I don’t have as I am still paying off his Operation, with the help and support and love of those who have contributed to the Jordy fund thus far. Sadly now I (and all of you who have followed his story) will need to figure out when the time has come to let Jordy be free. It’s not something I want to think about right now, but it is something that will happen in the next few months and this is so hard for me right now. I would like to thank you all for your compassion and love, following Jordy’s story and letting him into your hearts. I know my love for Jordy is shared by so many of you and it helps so much. I am so sorry this update isn’t as happy as I would have liked it to have been. He is still here and he is happy and comfortable. And I love him VERY much … we all do!!!

It’s been nearly two weeks as at now() since I last snapped a celebrity in London, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’ve been bored … all that time. Here’s the highlights for the past twenty days: / April 16th. Hugh Jackman outside BBC Radio 1. I was asked whether I screamed like a girl upon seeing him, and my answer was: I had my iPod on so I don’t know for sure, but I doubt it. I’m a guy, and as such appear immune to the Efrons and Jackmans to which I am exposed… (Therons and Kidmans are another matter..) / April 11th. Another weird mouth-shaped building in St Albans…. was removed from photo for the day in favour of ‘duck in front of trees and a bench’. (It was that kind of day… perhaps more so) / April 17th. Covent Garden tube station. I was all set for a nice excursion into the ‘Garden area, but when I got out it was raining just a bit too heavily and I didn’t have an umbrella. So… back onto the tube I went. / April 18th. The town of Cambridge is very pretty and known for its University/ies, the Kings College Chapel, and punting on the River Cam. But I couldn’t go past this shot of a tree-lined avenue leading to the place where we had a bit of a picnic until we were asked to leave. Bah – I’ve got a degree. Where’s the love? I call it The Dark and the Light and it edged out Not Talking To You for photo for the day. / April 19th. Door handle, St Albans. I removed the two bottom screws in editing for extra added effect. Yeah, I know. It doesn’t change the effect… it just enhances it. Otherwise, a pretty good, albeit nondescript day. / April 20th. At the Star Trek Premiere Chris Pike plays the young Captain Kirk in JJ Abrams’ new Star Trek. And while I think Zoe Saldana is prettier and JJ Abrams cooler, I kind of have to go with the shot of Kirk in foreground, Kirk in background, for photo for the day / April 21st. Russell Crowe exits his Range Rover and heads for some poses for the Paps and some quick interviews before settling down to a massively impressive autograph signing spree at the State of Play Premiere. Very commendable. And YOU were to scared to show up in case he went mental and started throwing things. Bah! / April 22nd. I know, painting with a torch, like tilt-shifting, is kind of the In Thing in photography for the Young Kidz these days. However, while I’ve seen people do quite complicated, nearly 3-D ‘paintings’ and scenes, I haven’t seen anyone tagging the side of a wall with a torch and taking a 30-second exposure of it. (I can’t believe I’ve finally got a tag!) / April 23rd. It’s St Georges Day! And it’s not a public holiday. Apparently, it’s because to organise a national holiday for Scotland AND Ireland AND England AND Wales would be too emotionally charged. Bah. Even if Matthew Broderick’s birthday was a public holiday, no matter how much I detest the guy I’d still want to have the day off… / April 24th. It’s Edinburgh, Scotland. This photo does not include the famous Edinburgh Castle, Botanic Gardens, Princes Street or the large monument I’m calling the ‘Sauron Monument’ because that’s what it reminded me of. / April 25th. Otter fights Eel on a rock on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. I had no end of beautiful scenery to choose from, from ferries to mountains to waterfalls to castles to 5000 year old burial mounds, a whiskey distillery and the town of Broddick just after a cleansing afternoon rain and thunderstorm. But for sheer rarity, I kind of have to go with this shot. / April 26th. We left Arran and rather than drive to Glasgow directly, we went via the small town of Arroway, outside Ayr. This is the Brig O’Doon (no, really. That’s it’s name) / April 27th. This building on the campus of the University of London stood in for the British Museum in the movie “The Mummy Returns”. Which is odd because the ACTUAL British Museum is, like, about three blocks away from this building. / April 28th. Giant hanging lantern outside a pub called ‘The Champion’. I assume the ornate wrought ironwork can support that kind of weight… / April 29th. Whenever I see a protest anywhere, I’m put in mind of someone who pointed out “if a million people signed a petition not to go to war in Iraq but the government went anyway, what’s the likelihood that a protest of (a smaller number) will make any difference whatsoever?”. It’s a sobering thought, but one it’s hard to fault the logic of. / April 30th. Hedwig House, St Albans. It’s a Harry Potter reference. In other news, generic brand Ibuprofen is keeping my massive toothache at bay until my dentist appointment next Tuesday. Its strength is adequate, but the four hour delay before it kicks in is probably explained by the fact that it sells for about 1/8 the price of the leading brand…. / May 1st. The studios of BBC Radios 1 and 2 and Leicester Square have provided more photos for the day than any other discrete location, so I felt it was nice to take a shot of one of them without celebs getting in the way. This is Leicester Square. / May 2nd. Part of the Rose Window (?) of St Albans Abbey, one of the few churches in England to date back to Roman times. There’s a Saint interred there, no less, and the acoustics (for when the choir is singing or practicing) are brilliant. / May 3rd. The Rothschild estate in Waddesdon. This is the back of the building (the front has a row of Bentleys and Rolls Royces lined up for you to peruse…. just so you can tell the difference). I’m not the most materialistic of people… but, damn…. I gotta vacuum my apartment. / May 4th. It’s a public holiday Monday, not that this meant I did anything spectacular. This is part of a series of houses on London Road, St Albans, with murals painted on doors and window frames. / May 5th. “I’m Sorry (for being negative)” says the Evening Standard advertisement at Liverpool Street Station. It’s a sobering sentiment when you’re on your way to the dentist. On the plus side, however….. the anaesthetic worked a little too well? Feel free to compare and contrast against the Previous One Photo Per Day So… that was twenty something reasonably decent days, photographically speaking! However, my complaint stands : I haven’t snapped a celeb for nearly two weeks and that’s just crazy. Seriously, right now I’d take a low-order Baroness or former Big Brother contestant! Until next time!

  • Thank you dear Michaela (Kalaryder) for this feature:)) / You are so Kind:) Thank you dear Friends who support me here, God bless you and make you happy everyday:) / Hugs, / Tereza

  • New American Landscape 6X Feature and Jun 28-Jul 5th in Review
    by F.A. Moore

The highlights of my week on Red Bubble were serveral. Number one had to be getting approval for the Southern United States Artists group. I am accepting work with an eye toward exhibition and have high aspirations for it. I am glad to have Levi Moore (no relation), a.k.a. artmonger as my co-host. Just as exciting is the start of production on Frans List: Art, featuring some fine artists of Red Bubble. More on that as I get closer to the first feature show. New American Landscape / Third on the list, but truly inspirational, was the six features awarded to New American Landscape. New American Landscape shows Gargoyles, one of which is tatooed as Mont-n-sano. The work represents Monsanto’s decimation of the farmer and agriculture as we know it. This is due, in part, to their patenting of genes found in the wild, and claiming ownership rights to everything that has “their” gene. The farmer, and his wife, in the window of the gothic house, are meant to evoke the classic “American Gothic” painting. Obviously, though, something is amiss. Many thanks to the various groups who either recognized the aesthetics and digital expertise in the work, the writing that accompanied it, and/or who recognized my attempt to bring about awareness. I am grateful for the honor and the exposure. Those groups are: Freedom in Words and ART, Digital Art Compilations, Current Issues, Politics, Race, Sexuality and Culture, Core [C.O.R.E], and Digital Artists United. Thank you all for featuring New American Landscape. / New American Landscape Rural Landscape / The first in that series was “Rurual Landscape”, which I purposely released in advance and let sit a couple of days; hoping you would admire its beauty, before I hit you with “New American Landscape”. And you fell for it! Rural Landscape was featured by ImageWriting and Freedom in Words and ART. I’m very grateful for these features. Rural Landscape was used as the basis in “New American Landscape”, where the Gargoyles and shadows visibly change the mood and the area. / Rural Landscape Immersion and Rain Catcher I was very pleased to see both Immersion and Rain Catcher featured by Abstrict Digital Art and Writing and Freedom to Shine, respectively. These works are more or less experiments with incorporating similar artworks within one, in a non-obvious way, to create compatible works. Many thanks to these wonderful group hosts. My Hero, Life-Giver, and The Choice-II Finally some old favorites got featured again; so that was a great surprise. My Hero by the in-between group; Life-Giver by Dimensions and The Choice-II by Impressionist Art. That was the 3rd feature for both My Hero and The Choice – II, and the sixth feature for Life-Giver. Abnoba, goddess of the Black Forest and Danube / Last but not least, Abnoba, goddess of the Black Forest and Danube placed in the top10 of The Divine Feminine’s Celtic Goddess Challenge. She hasn’t won any features, but I’m fond of her anyway, and her little animal friends! Below is the summary. LATEST FEATURES 2009-07-05 The Choice-II in Impressionist Art / 2009-07-04 New American Landscape in Digital Artists United / 2009-07-04 New American Landscape in Core [C.O.R.E] / 2009-07-04 New American Landscape in Politics, Race, Sexuality and Culture / 2009-07-04 New American Landscape in Current Issues / 2009-07-03 Life-Giver in Dimensions / 2009-07-03 New American Landscape in Digital Art Compilations / 2009-07-02 New American Landscape in Freedom in Words and ART / 2009-07-02 Abnoba, goddess of the Black Forest and Danube top10 in Celtic Goddess Challenge / 2009-06-30 Rural Landscape in Freedom in Words and ART / 2009-06-30 Rural Landscape in ImageWriting / 2009-06-29 Immersion in Abstrict Digital Art and Writing / 2009-06-28 Rain Catcher in Freedom to Shine / 2009-06-28 My Hero in in-between

So I decided today to cycle here to the Public Library in Hilversum to try to get in touch again. Of course this is not the real solution. I am afraid that that solution will not be found today or tomorrow either. I am the victim of some network linking problem caused by my provider, i.e. UPC here in the Netherlands. On the Redbubble problem site I have discovered that I am not the only who suffers from the UPC problem. There are Redbubblers as far away as Ireland and Austria who cannot get in touch. I am pushing for a solution via the helpdesk and via emails, but will it help? At the moment they still say that the link breaks somewhere in Japan. But it should not go to Japan at all in the first place, but connect with the Redbubble site within seconds just as it does here on the computer at the Public Library. So for those of you who wondered why there are no new pictures from me, nor reactions and comments either: I am ok personally, but just cannot get in touch from home. I hope you are all fine! / Yours, / Juergen

Presenting a timelapse of the bonfire night fireworks display overlooking the River Tay in Dundee, Scotland, 5th November 2009. A total of 353 photos were shot in the 25 minute display, timelapsed to a speedy 34 seconds. So for those of you wondering why on earth I opted to spend an evening in glamorous Dundee (ahem, hello miss purple), this is the reason :) / / / / The video quality isn’t as good as it should be unfortunately, problems uploading to Youtube meant I had to re-encode in a lesser format. Still get the idea though!
