‘51 Merc in Candy Apple Red, caught in the rain at Grand National Roadster show, Pomona, CA / Unchopped! (almost unheard of in 51 mercs) / Owner: Cisco Farias, Mission Viejo, CA
This photo was handed down to me by my dad, he has a great interest in planes so I wanted to see if there were any photos I could play with. The polished aluminium body and clouds just begged HDR so this is what I came up with. Scanned the image and imported it into Lightroom then exported it as 3 different exposures and merged it in Photomatix. Put it back into Lightroom and touched it up a bit. I decided to leave the spots of dirt and stuff for an older ‘feel’.
You know that satisfying feeling you get when you feel that you just “nailed” the shot? I’m really happy with my Shutterspeed selection to capture the prop swirl on this P-51D Mustang called “Bald Eagle”.

One more grey day This painting is a reflection of how it is here in BC coastal region most of the time. / The greyness is tonal and rich in hues, it inspires, it makes you melancholic, it drives you to be. / It makes you wish for a sunny day again that you know is coming next week.
THIS IS THE ORIGINAL COLOR PHOTO THAT I USED TO COME UP WITH THE BLACK & WHITE PHOTO, “WARMING UP”. THIS ORIGINAL WAS TAKEN WITH A CANON AE1, A CANON 100-200 F:5.6 TELEPHOTO LENS AND KODAK 100ASA COLOR FILM. I SCANNED THE 25 YEAR OLD 3X5 INTO MY COMPUTER AND DIGITALLY ENHANCED IT ENOUGH TO MAKE TWO DIFFERENT PHOTOS FROM IT.

Owned by Mike Cole, father and son project. Includes LT1 power, Street Rod Engineering sub-frame, House of Trim upholstery. / Won Cool Convert award at Orange County Good Guys meet.

THIS PILOT MADE A VERY NICE HIGH SPEED PASS OVER THE NUT TREE AIRPORT RUNWAY IN VACAVILLE CALIFORNIA. AFTER MAKING THIS AND ONE MORE PHOTO PASS, AS THEY LIKE TO CALL THEM, HE BROUGHT THE BIRD IN FOR A NICE SOFT LANDING. SORRY NEIL, THIS ONE’S IN BLACK & WHITE ONLY ALSO.
This is an image of a P-51D Mustang and a F-15E Strike Eagle. Both of these aircraft were assigned similar duties; one of them in the 1940s and 1950s and one at the present time. They are both graceful birds that can strike like a cobra if agitated. / Image captured during the 2008 McChord Air Expo, Tacoma, WA.
