On September 19th 1979, 2 police cars were burnt during a riot involving 10,000 people (including onlookers) at the Star Hotel, Newcastle. About 40 local police without any riot gear attempted to control the crowd. There were no serious injuries and no other major damage. The Newcastle mayor Joy Cummings during the subsequent trials begged for clemency citing the frustrations of high unemployment and poverty as extenuating factors for those accused.

Vintage 1979 T-Shirt designed by Mike Paget 2009
Acrylic on canvas, 30×40 inches. Seven ravens, the woodland messengers in Anishnabe country, remind the man of seven teachings handed down by the old men from ages ago.
This is a great memento of an 30th Birthday party where everyone signs your shirt instead of or as well as a guest book.
While waiting to catch the Bolt Bus to NYC from 30th Street in Philadelphia I found the clash between the very old and very modern to be extremely appealing.
For a 30th Birthday – full blown fantasy for the clients boyfriend, down to his own signage and decals on the HRT Commodore

Along with many other Redbubblers, I am donating profits from sales of my work on Redbubble to the Victorian Red Cross Bushfires Appeal until 30th June to support those who have suffered in the Victorian fires here in Australia. ( Except my Cape York Photos – All proceeds will still go to the Cancer Council for The Great Australian Cancer Bush Walk www.thegreatcancerwalk.com.au ) If you have ever thought you’d like one of my images to hang on your wall, or as a card, or to use as a gift, now is the time – the proceeds could not go to a better cause. I will document any sales in a Journal entry at the end of June, and direct monies to The_Red_Cross_Victorian_Bushfires_Appeal Many families have lost their lives and whole towns have been burnt to the ground. It really puts things into perspective and gives us a huge reality check. Please pray for those dealing with the aftermath. The_Death_Toll_Could_Top_200 I have also donated several of my works to the Phoenix-Appeal – If you have time, please check out the fabulous artwork that is being donated by so many here on Redbubble! Having family and friends in Victoria, it has really brought home the impact of this tragedy! Stay Safe! Marilyn

Hi guys. Thanks to all of you who wished my luck and gave me support during my nervous night prior to the party! I would like to share with you the website with the photos. Overall I was ok with my shooting, had some exposure problems and the restaurant was s tiny, i literally couldn’t move at all between tables or anything. But after some adjustments and couple of great shots, I think it turned out ok. Make sure you have your speakers on! 30th wedding anniversary / xoxo / Jen
