Thud was such a handsome fellow which I had the pleasure of meeting in Colorado in 2007. I had known of Thud prior our meeting as his owner would e-mail me about him. While in Colorado, I managed to get a series of photos of him - including this one. He died shortly after and I am honored that I was blessed with our meeting - even if only for a short moment. Although you can’t tell in these photos, Thud suffered from a condition called degenerative myelopathy (DM). He was slowly going paralyzed and although his mind was sharp, his body was not. 100% of sales of “Thud” cards will be donated to the American Chesapeake Club Trust Fund to help fund research for DM and other diseases which affect our canine friends. Taken with a Canon 30D, Canon f/2.8L IS 70-200mm

    by AngieBel

    US$3.99–US$91.20

The last of my Passionflower series (for this Summer anyway!)...this one is my favourite. The amazing tri-coloured petals and intricate stamen captivate me. Thanks to my gorgeous sister Kristyn who knew where to source one of these and gave it to me on Christmas Day. It was worth passing up the evening meal to shoot! Flower Measurements: / Deep purple ‘cross arms’ at top of flower: 1.5 cm / Green bulb-like formation: 1 cm high / Anthers (little yellow ‘feet’!): 1cm / Tri-coloured petals: 1.5 cm from deep purple end to light purple end Canon EOS 30D / Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens / f/4.5 ISO 100 Shutter Speed 2 seconds

  • Black Velvet
    by AngieBel

    US$3.99–US$91.20

(Anyone else love that song as much as I did in the ‘80s?!) I am no gardener…far from it…but I do have 50 rose bushes at my lens’s disposal :) This one, however (called “Black Beauty”) is hands-down my absolute favourite. Deep red with back velvety tips and inner petals, I think this is as sensual as a rose can be. Canon EOS 30D / Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens

  • Beautiful Barred Owl
    by Vincent Vartorella

    US$4.99–US$114.00

I took this at a rehabilitation center in Ohio. It looks like a Burrowing Owl, but it doesn’t have yellow eyes so I assume it is a Barred.

  • White Poppy
    by AngieBel

    US$3.99–US$91.20

A little 5 year old girl called Piper gave this to me when I collected her big sister for a play-date at our house. How sweet…and how perfect: it’s like she knew! / I hadn’t photographed a Poppy before, so I had a little play-date of my own :) Canon EOS 30D / Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens / f/5 ISO 100 Shutter Speed 1/4 second

  • Ruby Slippers
    by AngieBel

Macro of a Casa Blanca Lily. I was wandering around a Florist shop a couple of days ago, looking for a flower to buy for the express purpose of photographing it. I got talking to the owner, a lovely lady named Pam. Her husband, as it turns out, is a keen amateur photographer also…and my Insurance Agent I figured out later! Pam told me that she was expecting more flowers in the next day that might be more along the lines of what I was looking for, but then she ducked behind a curtain, and reappeared with a beautiful white lily. She told me to take it home – no charge – and enjoy photographing it! How sweet. I am always uplifted by how truly lovely people are when you just take the time to talk and connect. So Pam from “The Flower Shop”...this is for you. I hope you like it! Canon EOS 30D / Canon 100mmm f/2.8 Macro Lens

  • A Soft Touch
    by AngieBel

    US$3.99–US$91.20

While I typically love how a macro lens reveals the ‘unseen’ and therefore gravitate toward shots heavy on the detail, I have been wanting to try and capture a completely different ‘feel’ with it lately. A shot that only reveals small areas of detail, yet still shows the form of the subject as only a macro can. Sometimes, as with life itself, you know when it’s your time to step back a little. I think, even with a soft touch (or maybe because of it?) true beauty still shines through. At least I hope so! :) Canon EOS 30D / Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens / f/2.8 ISO 100 / (moderate sharpening only in CS2)

  • RIP 30D
    by Disenchanted

    US$4.99–US$114.00

I woke up this morning at around 5am and headed out with my trusty kit bag to take some photos of the sunrise. I’ve done this countless times before but this morning… well this morning has left me shattered. I was in my own world merrily setting up by the waters edge, doing everything the way I had done on so many other occasions… just waiting for the light to give me my first shot of the beautiful morning colours when this punk walked up behind me with his fishing pole and tackle box in hand and scared the absolute shit out of me! As a result, I turned… tripped on my tripod… fell on my ass and then much to my horror, watched as my tripod and camera tumbled ever so slowly and peacefully into the water lapping up onto the shore. All the fisherman could do was chuckle as he continued his way along the beach, all I could do was weep with my old friend in my lap as I watched the lights go out forever. So this is the last image that will ever come from my beloved Canon 30D. She has been a faithful companion over the years and I will miss her. As a result, I am reducing EVERYTHING by 10% as I am now trying to bridge the gap between insurance and a replacement companion… a small comfort but I am sure this is what my trusty 30D would want me to do.

  • Incomming
    by Vincent Vartorella

I frequent a swamp that was on my way to and from work. I caught this Red Winged Black bird just as it was coming in for a landing.

  • Too Little To Play
    by Vincent Vartorella

    US$3.99–US$91.20

I took this shot at a friends wedding. We were playing Bocce Ball, and this little guy was just too little to play. (He really did get to play ;))

  • Passion
    by AngieBel

    US$3.99–US$91.20

I’m very likely on the verge of self-imposing a ban on posting Macro-flower shots…however…I’ve been wanting to shoot some Passionflowers for the longest time. Their unique beauty intrigues me. I have been very fortunate that over the last couple of weeks, through the kindness of others, to have had 2 come my way. Thanks to Rob Jenner for availing this one to me! (That’s a nice way of describing going into your neighbours yard while he was away isn’t it Rob?! At least your conscience kicked in and you called and asked first…I was a woman on a mission!) Canon EOS 30D / Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens / f/4.5 ISO 100 Shutter Speed 4.5 sec Entire flower approx. 6 cm in diameter…portion shown in image appox. 4 cm

This is Libby, my little buddy. She is very photogenic but very shy. When I got her from a rescue group (The Rainbow Connection Animal Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio), She had BB’s under her skin. Some fine upstanding citizen had shot her either with a shot gun or BB gun, as a kitten. / She is the sweetest Cat you will ever find and now lives the fine life!
