The inscription on the side of my .303 Lee enfield. The Mark III Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) or “smellie” as it was afffecionately known, was the main infantry weapon in World War 1 and the beginning of World War 2, before it was replaced by the Mark IV. / It entered service in 1896, and was still a front line weapon right up untill 1975. / This one was manufactured in Lithgow N.S.W 1942. And now hangs on my wall, the centrepiece of my World War 2 collection. Title from STAR WARS

Found this old door and sign while walking around Melbourne, Australia. Initially it was the weathered door that caught my attention – it was only later that I noticed the “Detective Agency” sign over it.
