  • BEST VIEWED LARGER This shot from MIlsons Point Wharf directly under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the lights and skyline of the city on the opposite shore. Taken around midnight the waters of Sydney are lit with colours of the rainbow. For visitors to Sydney , you can walk across to Milsons point, or catch train trip to Milson’s Point station or a 5 minute trip from Circular Quay, The area also is nestled next to the Historic Luna Park Amusement Park. This shot was taken with no filters with a Nikon D300 and Nikon 18-200mm lens securely mounted on a Manfrotto Tripod, using three bracketed exposures which were then processed using Photomatix HDR Software. My continuing journey into HDR

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER This shot was taken around midnight from under Sydney Harbour Bridge at Milsons Point. / The Equipment used was a Nikon D300 using a Nikon 18-200mm lens, the shot used 3 bracketed images then processed using Photomatix HDR Software Sydney Opera House / / Sydney Opera House must be one of the most recognisable images of the modern world – up there with the Eiffel Tower and the Empire State Building – and one of the most photographed. Not only is it recognisable, it has come to represent ‘Australia’. Although only having been open since 1973, it is as representative of Australia as the pyramids are of Egypt and the Colosseum of Rome. The Opera House is situated on Bennelong Point, which reaches out into the harbour. The skyline of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the blue water of the harbour and the Sydney Opera House, viewed from a ferry or from the air, is dramatic and unforgettable. Ironic, perhaps, that this Australian icon – the Opera House with a roof evocative of a ship at full sail – was designed by renowned Danish architect – Jorn Utzon. In the late 1950s the New South Wales (NSW) Government established an appeal fund to finance the construction of the Sydney Opera House, and conducted a competition for its design. Utzon’s design was chosen. The irony was that his design was, arguably, beyond the capabilities of engineering of the time. Utzon spent a couple of years reworking the design and it was 1961 before he had solved the problem of how to build the distinguishing feature – the ‘sails’ of the roof. The venture experienced cost blow-outs and there were occasions when the NSW Government was tempted to call a halt. In 1966 the situation – with arguments about cost and the interior design, and the Government withholding progress payments – reached crisis point and Jorn Utzon resigned from the project. The building was eventually completed by others in 1973. After more than 30 years, the Sydney Opera House has its first interior designed by Utzon. The Utzon Room, a transformed reception hall that brings to life Jorn Utzon’s original vision for his masterpiece, was officially opened on September 16 2004. Sydney Opera House facts and figures / The Sydney Opera house: Was designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon / Was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 20 October 1973 / Presented, as its first performance, The Australian Opera’s production of War and Peace by Prokofiev / Cost $AU 102,000,000 to build / Conducts 3000 events each year / Provides guided tours to 200,000 people each year / Has an annual audience of 2 million for its performances / Includes 1000 rooms / Is 185 metres long and 120 metres wide / Has 2194 pre-cast concrete sections as its roof / Has roof sections weighing up to 15 tons / Has roof sections held together by 350 km of tensioned steel cable / Has over 1 million tiles on the roof / Uses 6225 square metres of glass and 645 kilometres of electric cable

  • Oil painting. Poulnasherry Bay. This painting depicts the shore inlet at Moyasta between the towns of Kilkee and Kilrush. I grew up in Moyasta and waiting endlessly for the tide to turn so we could swim. However it didnt come in as often as we would have liked!!

  • My son Jeremy is a very blessed little boy. He almost lost his life several times due to severe asthma, a collapsed lung, fluid filled lungs and from choking on a peanut. Through all this, he has kept his spirit and sense of humor. He is my little gift from God. Jeremy recently took this picture from the plane while flying (his first trip in a plane) to Vancouver with his Dad to visit my eldest daughter Jaime (the one who’s getting married). Here’s a picture of him having fun on the boat. Looks like he caught “the big one” LOL! I asked him if I could use this image and I chose this scripture to help encourage anyone who might currently be experiencing troubles of any kind that seem impossible to handle. Give them to God and pray, believing that the mountain will be moved. “Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and do not doubt in your heart but believe that what you say will happen, it will be done for you. Mark 11:23

  • Ah…....lend me your ears for a moment….more coming? / Plenty of space here…. / Yes, it’s a chilly evening, but…. / Just look at that castle…..Ruined from an act of Parliament in 1546…..Still standing….’least part of it is…. / There’s a tale in that rock and mortar… A man from our own time….and a young woman from 1525…. / He in his ‘40’s, she in the flower of life, at 26. / The tale goes like this….she died during the assault on the castle…a broken heart from her home being attacked by her own countrymen. It was all so wrong! How could a body of astute men 60 miles to the east, take it their heads to dismantle one of Britains famous landmarks, and the scene of its own battles. Governments were as mysterious then as they are now, I’m afraid, my friends. Well, take up time again, in April of 2009….Andy has decided to find all he can about this lass from hundreds of years back, as he has this feeling inside his soul, that, should he be able to cross time, he can meet her…... Look carefully at the castle as you play the video, me lads and lassies….you never know what you may see….you may just have to play it more than once to find the mystery. • 1 The LORD is my shepherd; / I shall not want. / 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; / He leads me beside the still waters. / 3 He restores my soul; / He leads me in the paths of righteousness / For His name’s sake. / / 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, / I will fear no evil; / For You are with me; / Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. / / 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; / You anoint my head with oil; / My cup runs over. / 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me / All the days of my life; / And I will dwell in the house of the LORD / Forever. / ~Psalm 23 Stock Credits / freaky665.deviantart.com
