  • From an early 20th century photo digitally altered

  • Something completely non-artistic… however, it’s a nice image (digitally enhanced, of course). I’ll probably take it down after a few days, depending on its popularity. I guess I just wanted to share the moment. This eclipse happened on February 20th-21st, 2008, shot in Brazil **Edit: This image is staying due to its surprising popularity! :)

  • The Hill of Tara was the Coronation place of Irelands pre-Christian kings, and is one of Irelands more famous sites. This was not an hereditary Kingship, the kings either won it in battle or were chosen for it. Although no buildings survive there are a number of large earthworks still remaining on the hill, some are inside an even larger iron age enclosure known as a Hill Fort. In the middle of this enclosure are two linked ring forts, to the East is Cormacs House and to the West is The Royal Seat. / Rath of the Synods / North of the iron age enclosure is a 2,000 year old earthwork, / The Rath of the Synods, / which is built around an earlier burial mound known as the King’s Chair. This earthwork can be seen in the picture above, the largest mound on the right is the Mound of the Hostages. Further North is a long rectangular area with banks on either side, known as the Banqueting Hall it may have been used as such but is more likely to have been an entrance road to Tara. View On Black

  • This is the town where I was supposed to play this last weekend. Unfortunately, it got too late and the weather wasn’t looking all the early either so we bailed. There were still so many acts on stage that we were hardly missed. All around this street there was snow on the ground, some places a foot deep and I was warned to walk very carefully or I’m find myself on my butt wondering what happened. Thank goodness it started to rain when I was leaving and that prevented it from snowing and took out the black ice I was most afraid of. The Nikon D80 did this with the 18-55 lens, a tripod, and a LOT of guesswork. LOL!

  • Image of Bi-Plane For my friend, Jane, who pulled to the side of the road, somewhere in Pennsylvania (or maybe we were still in Jersey?) when I yelled, “STOP!” Those five trees lined up like a dream in field just begged the shot. Featured in the Group: The Art of Intrigue

  • One of my dearest friends John, starts a mammoth journey today by going to France and then walking from St.Jean Pied de Port – Pyrennes – Pamplona – Irun – Donostia – Bilbao – Santander – San Vicente – Ribadesella – (Covadonga) – Villaviciosa – Oviedo – Salas – Tineo – Lugo – Melide – Santiago de Compostela – to Spain. The Camino de Santiago de Compostela, also known in English as The Way of St James, is a collection of old pilgrimage routes which cover all Europe. They all have Santiago de Compostela in north west Spain as their final destination. For more than 1000 years pilgrims have been walking along the Camino de Santiago. I would like to wish John and his friend Nick a safe and wonderful journey and add everyone’s best wishes….. We all wish them the best of luck! I shall be marking the map with their progress….And thinking of you both… Happy Walking! Enjoy the Sunrises and take some fantastic photographs! The Sun Does Rise – John’s chosen song to mark this Camino. To You Both With Love…...Sx / July 20th 2009

  • this is a wonderful little bit of blue graffitti from the back streets of Newtown shot some years ago… it no longer actually exists anywhere but here in this old photo… but you know… I love this little bit of graf… a lot of people hate graffitti but I actually think it’s the artform of the moment…it’s real and it’s immmediate and it’s for people passing by…. you don’t need a college degree in art history and no one can take it away and lock it up and say it’s to precious for ordinary people to look at…... so it’s democratic and vibrant as well…. OK not all of it is that fantastic and I kind of hate random mindless tagging… but sometimes …sometimes what you see on the streets is just pure class and a delight to the eyes….. like this funny blue face looking out and about and it doesn’t even mean anything in particular… it just makes you happy when you see it….well it makes me happy anyway…. / . /
