  • Portrait of a guy (Indian or Black American) underlying a bolted frame plate covered in a block print along with surrounding abstract shapes and textures, some flat, some in 3D. A white airbrushed cloud was added to this composition to bring more depth between the shapes also creating a frosty cold air feeling for this black and white image. 1-6-07

  • This is a restored Viet Nam era UH-1B, flown by the Navy’s only attack helicopter squadron HAL-3 landing on the aircraft carrier USS Midway CVA 41 in San Diego yesterday. It was part of a Seawolf (HAL-3) micro-reunion for squadron veterans. / I was a door gunner on these aircraft back in ‘69-70. / The Midway, a Naval Air museum has one UH-1B on deck already, so the landing of this bird was the first ever Fire Team formation in the United States! / The Huey was affectionately restored by volunteers of the Wings and Rotors museum at French Valley airport in Murrieta, CA. • B-1B bomber departs Nellis AFB for a night sortie during recent Red Flag exercise. Las Vegas glows in the background as the jet stream boils lights below the bomber.

  • Playing around with the options in PhotoSuite helped me understand the way heat relates to lighting in photography. Since I can’t see the subtle changes in Kelvin being colourblind, I need to combine the spectrum into fewer colours and less hues to be able to distinguish the patterns of the heat temperatures. With this abstract of the same flame I shot before, I was able to find the hotter and cooler parts of the flame’s heat. (This method was a lot easier than putting my hand into parts of the flame and timing how long it took for me to scream.)

  • This edit from a shot is here just to show the eyes of a wild animal when it knows the human about is absolutely no threat whatsoever. I may have been able to pet this one – not a good idea with them carrying Lyme Disease ticks like their bosom buddies! Yeeccchh!

  • The original image Flotsam and Jetsam had a small amount of postwork done in a paint program. While doing this I decided to duplicate the layer and play with blending modes, this image was a result of that experimentation.

  • These pylons are the sole remains of the old 200 meter long jetty built in 1860 to replace one that had proved too short and too low and of which even less remains today. Port Willunga was then a thriving port as the nearby Willunga slate quarries were operating in the 1860’s and 1870’s and also for the export of wheat, but quickly became redundant when the demand for slate declined. In 1914 a storm ripped out the middle of this newer jetty and then a another storm in 1915 washed away most of what the remained (sources 1 and 2 ). / South Australia, Australia / / (ref fotoWERNER 3H0911.2097) / Nikon D300 | Nikon 18-200VR @ 18mm / 1/200s f/14 ISO250 /

  • Theme: ANZAC Model : David Campbell Location: Australian War Memorial, Canberra, Australia Photographer: tmac I have no connection with The Australian War Memorial, but believe it is a wonderful place to see, when visiting Canberra, Australia. It shows our history & people in some of the dark hours, which has bred Aussies to be who we are today.
