A selfportrait in a daily series. One I liked. / Regarding the look of it: it’s noisy but it’s supposed to be :) And there’s a slight texture over it as well.

This elegant hotel lobby from the gold rush days in Montana has not been used for over 100 years but still has its charms.
This stands in front of the lily pond in the gardens at Vanderbilt Estate. Every time I look at her it makes me wonder what she has seen. The times that have come and gone from when she was put there in the late 19th century (or early 20th). I always wonder what it must of been like at this estate in its hay day… She knows…. She saw it all…

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Wooden Windmill Have never seen a Wooden Windmill like this – could be one of very few in Australia. I would be interested to know if anyone has come across a wooden windmill in their travels before and if so, where? I highly recommend a visit to Woolmers Estate, Longford, Tasmania! Woolmers Estate in Tasmania is one of the most intact 19th century homesteads in Australia. It was continuously farmed by six generations of the Archer family from its settlement around 1817 to the death of the last heir in 1994. A range of significant buildings, interior features, and artefacts survive from every period of the Estate’s history to the present. The Estate is also significant for its association with the use of convict labour through the assignment system, which provided labour to settlers in exchange for food and clothing. Situated on Woolmers Lane, 7 kilometres from the town of Longford and 20 kilometres from Launceston, the Estate is open daily to the public. Woolmers Estate was included in the National Heritage List on 23 November 2007. Canon PowerShot A650 IS Shutter Speed: 1/320sec / Aperture: F4.5 / ISO: 80

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Alexandra Suspension Bridge If you are feeling a little adventurous, cross the Gorge on what is known locally as “The Swinging Bridge”! This masterful piece of 19th century engineering was opened in 1904. It was washed away by the Great Flood of 1929 but restored a few years later. The bridge was named after Queen Alexandra, consort to King Edward VII. Crossing it will provide you with fine views on both sides of the gorge. From near the bridge, you can make your way up to either the Alexandra Lookout or the Cataract Lookout for a birds eye view. For those still keen to walk on, it is possible to continue on walking tracks to reach the Second Basin further up in the gorge, as well as Duck Reach – 45 minutes each way. (Duck Reach is the site of the first municipal hydroelectric power station in Australia and had provided power from 1895 to 1955) Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. Another old drawing I once displayed on RB and no-one was interested. I have been getting some good feedback today for my pen and inks, so I thought I’d show a few old ones to see what reception they get.

Two old light houses at the entrance to the river tyne known locally as the high light and low light. No longer in use but in times gone ships coming into the tyne would line up the Lighthoses one behind the other to ensure that they were on course in the centre of the river.
