Pencil and pastel portrait of Robert Smith of The Cure. Drawn in 1990 so it’s a bit tattered ;)
This portrait was to my boy friend Hansen so he’d remember me. I left him in a Chinese restaurant because I felt he didn’t love me. I regret that now but that’s life- a bit unpredictable sometimes. / I’m not very domestic so my mother had given me an iron and ironing board. So I put it to good use in this photo.
You know when you move in for the kiss and she blurs into a mirage.

Tried out a sketchy illustration style a little while ago, this was the result.
I have spent many a happy hour in this building. Here below is the first version of this drawing that I did in 1989. I later showed it to a professional artist, who commented that it was a good drawing, but possibly spoiled by my inclusion of the bus shelter and the lamp posts, which were obscuring the view somewhat. I patiently sat down and, over about ten or twelve hours (in two hour sessions) I repeated the drawing … minus the obscuring parts. That was when i learned the valuable lesson that artists don’t have to include EVERYTHING :) I used Rotring Isograph pens by the way.
I did this drawing in 1990. More recently I did a coloured version, using my own choice of colours of course :) FEATURED BY NORTH EAST ENGLAND GROUP – 17th February 2009

In the days when I sold prints of my pen and ink work, this sold 1,000 prints, of which 90 were framed and mounted, or logically speaking, mounted then framed :) It was the most popular drawing I ever did. For almost twenty years I have mused over whether it sold so well because the view had nostalgic value to the purchasers, or whether any artistic merit entered into the the equation. By uploading it onto Redbubble I may soon have a better idea, because none of you will be familiar with this view and will hopefully judge it on its merit as a drawing. Chris Baker of Redbubble has sent me this link to another view of the ferry .. many thanks Chris :) FEATURED IN FIRST THINGS GROUP – 26th July 2009 FEATURED IN HAND PAINTED OR DRAWN BUILDINGS AND ARCHITECTURE – 28th July 2009
This Roman Catholic Church is one of a series of drawings I produced to be made into prints and sold locally in shops. The series sold well but eventually I ran out of suitable views to do of my town and I lost interest in pen and ink drawing. I have recently started to become interested again, so I am uploading some of my older work onto Redbubble to add to the newer drawings.
Another from my series of views of my home town, Blyth, Nortumberland, England.
