This is demonstrated especially when they meet someone they want to be involved with. Known for throwing themselves into a relationship, they sometimes loose tiny bits and pieces of themselves along the way. Though the starting day of the year may vary the majority of people born in the years, 1906, 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, and 2002 are Horses Horses are quick-witted. They are intelligent and use their practicality to their advantage in business and personal situations. They quickly pick up new skills and are able to handle many different tasks at one time. Their ambition can be harmful as they often don’t finish what they start for fear of missing out on the next big challenge. In general Horses are trustworthy, friendly and open-minded. They are good friends who will always be honest with you. They are good confidants but do enjoy their alone time and are usually very independent people. They struggle with obstinacy and can be very self-centered. Often a close associate may see a temper tantrum from a Horse that does not get his way. Horses can feel remorse for this action, yet not all people will be able to forgive their angry reactions. June is the month of the Horse making the Western astrological counterpart the Gemini. Horses are self-reliant, joyful, outgoing and sophisticated but can be greedy, resilient and arrogant, The Chinese lunar calendar is considered to be the longest chronological record of time, dating back to 2637 BC when the zodiac was first introduced. Each Chinese lunar year is represented by an animal sign. Lord Buddha realizing he was about to reach the final level of enlightenment requested a meeting with all the animals of the world so he could bless them. Only twelve animals responded. In recognition of their devotion, Lord Buddha then named each year of the twelve-year cycle in their honor. Each year is named according to the order in which the animals appeared before him. For centuries this system of five basic elements and twelve personality types has been used to help compatible couples find happiness and marital bliss. In the past matching was usually done by a village matchmaker. It is my intention to combine this ancient system of finding love with the modern internet. Millions of people use internet matchmaking sites only to find matches half way around the world. • Buyer’s Booth Picture The 1966 FIFA World Cup was held in England from July 11 to July 30. England won the final, beating West Germany 4-2, giving them their first and as yet, only World Cup triumph, and notably the first controversial final match in the world cup history. London’s Wembley Stadium was the venue for the final, and a crowd of 98,000 crammed inside the famous stadium. Just 12 minutes had gone when Helmut Haller put West Germany ahead, but Geoff Hurst levelled just four minutes later. Martin Peters then put England ahead again in the 78th minute and England looked set to claim the title. However, the referee awarded a free kick to West Germany with one minute left, the ball was aimed goalward and Wolfgang Weber poked it across the line to level the scores at 2-2 and the game went to extra time. In the 98th minute Hurst’s shot hit the crossbar, bounced down into the goalmouth and the long running debate has gone on ever since on whether it did cross the line. In the last minute Hurst completed his, and the only ever, World Cup Final hat-trick, just as the crowd started to invade the pitch BBC commentator Kenneth Wolstenholme’s historic commentary has become one of the most famous sports related lines: “Some people are on the pitch. They think it’s all over.” (Hurst hammers the ball into the net) “It is now!”.

  • I was a young fashion photographer’s assistant who had also photographed racehorses trained by my father. ITV heard the story and wanted to interview me with pictures of girls and horses. In this picture shot for Biba’s, a world famous boutique in Kensington High Street in the 60’s, I decided to combine them both. I borrowed the 20mm lens and the 250 exposure back from my boss, John Cowan, whose studio was used in the 1966 cult film Blow-Up and set off for Sussex. The 20mm lens had only just been introduced and was the first of it’s kind. • 1966 GTO

  • This is a image of my mosaic trivet circa 1966 that I had bought at a flea market in 1973 in Mansfield, Ohio just a couple of years after I was married. They were quite the “thing” then and it still has a special place in my glass hutch! Don’t want anything to happen to it, lol! Just wanted to share it with you.

  • Two years ago, I found this old Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera at a garage sale, and I bought it for $2.00! It’s not a rare model, to be sure, but my mom had one very similar to that, and the sight of it brought up a lot of pleasant memories. It was the first camera that I remember seeing in use in our family, and the first one that I ever tried myself as well. I was fascinated by the way it was held at waist level and I felt so grown up when my mom showed me how to use it for the first time. I must have been about 6 or 7 at the time… Another great memory. I decided to make a shot of the Brownie, trying to depict the concept of childhood souvenirs. My sister found my old Skipper doll (Barbie’s younger sister) and gave it back to me some time ago. I received that doll when I was five, as a present when I had my tonsils removed. I can still remember the joy of opening the wardrobe case and fingering all the tiny garments on little plastic hangers. I loved her hair because my Skipper was a redhead just like my baby sister! Finally there is another keepsake from my childhood that I cherish and still use once in a while. It’s my first recipe book, published by the Carnation Company in 1964 (English title was The Fun Cook Book). I love their meat loaf recipe! I chose to make a triptych using the Brownie, the Skipper and the recipe book, as well as some old pictures taken by my mom in the 60s with her own Brownie (she had the one with a flash). I tried to match the colours and tones of all three shots with the pictures in the image on the right made with the Brownie. Those pictures have been masked and have not been altered at all. • This is a 24”x24” oil painting on masonite board. I painted it in 1966 while I lived at a small guest house in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Willie was the night watchie spending the night wandering the veranda and teaching the parrot patois, which no else could understand. / Willie now hangs by my front door, where he stares incessantly at the door lock.

  • I painted this while in Jamaica in 1966. I used latex interior house paint, since someone ‘took my magic tube paints (oils). The original is painted on a 16” x 32” piece of masonite or hardboard, on the ruf side. / The painting started with the drawing of the woman in lavender. This color was achieved by my having acquired the ‘mixing colorants’ used by the paint company to mix up all their variety of colors. I kept experimenting with these colorants for several years. / I remember being pleased with the lavender lady and kind of ‘projecting’ “an ideal woman” on to her. The abstracted male, “the jolly green giant” I knew even then was my own unformed sense of self and masculinity. / I was painting on the veranda of Stacey’s Montego Bay Guest House. Stacey, friends and guests could all get into the act of discussing anything artistic, my painting in particular. Stacey latched onto her choice of title “Number ONE”. Then she latched onto the painting itself, hung it in the place of honor in her salon and told me it’d help compensate her for my room and board, which I had no money to pay for. The arrangement worked for me. / She returned this painting to me many years later. It usually hangs somewhere around our house, but right now it’s in the closet with a broken frame.

  • England Bar Table Football Design

  • I painted this image the morning after a ‘Twelfth Night’ party the Christmas of 1966 while living in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It’s a large 30” x 44” piece of Masonite board and I used interior quality latex house paint with added colorants. How I’ve hauled this and a few other painting around all these years I don’t really know. I never considered this ‘finished’, but its impossible to return after the years. / My full costume was as ‘Puck’, with red leotards, a bright striped cape over the white top and donkey ears (now represented abstractly in the painting. / Today what strikes me is the profound shift I’d experienced since ‘the boy in the basement’ self portrait from 3 to 5 years before. I was now an intense, and every day becoming more the nonconformist.

  • I did this pencil and watercolor sketch of poinsettias in 1966 while in Jamaica to send back to the folks for Christmas in New York.

  • This painting was inspired by a trip to Port Antonio on the north east corner of the island of Jamaica in 1966. At the time it was an experiment in painting my impression of what paradise meant to me. / It’s painted on a 24” x 32” piece of Masonite using the house paints and colorants I could afford at the time. / I made as few changes when getting it ready as possible, but there were a few color enhancements to fix the fade of age.
