When one has played guitar for any length of time, (20 years 4 me), you can hear, what the tone of a player whom “gets it” sounds like. I was recently in Wausau, Wisconsin boarding, when just by luck, I heard “Machine Gun” (Hendrix), tearing up my soul at a local bar. At first I just listened, and the guitarist was ripping tone at my ass that sucked the air out of my lungs. I am completely hypnotized by virtuosity, and guitar players are unfortunately a dime a 100 these days. Take no offense, fellow / wannabes’ but you know what I’m talkin’ bout. Anyone can play fast, but / phrasing, tone, heart, soul and improvising with imagination, that’s a Player. Quite possibly the greatest surprise; this was, one of the best guitarists I have ever heard, in the Blues-Rock genre. This rod reminded my of the original Big “T” model released by Monogram in 1962. Very few hot rods can claim to have been in as many homes and hearts as Darryl Starbird’s Big T. Not that it made that many personal appearances, but in 1/8th-scale model kit form, the Big T hooked a whole generation of motorheads on the idea of owning a hot rod. Back in the early ‘60s, Monogram began a relationship with Darryl and the first kit to come from that merger was the Big T, and it made a huge impact as the first full 1/8th-scale model. This large-scale model was so well detailed that it almost felt like building the real thing. Painted by my late mother of my dad’s Dodge that he owns and is his pride and joy. This was the final oil painting that my mum did for dad and was determined to finish it. At the time she began doing this painting her health deteriorated immensely, and she was so determined to finish it for him before she passed away. That came only 4 weeks after she put her final brush stroke to the painting in December 2006. Believe me all her paintings are treasured but this one holds a special meaning in our hearts. /

This old guitar means the world to me. It belonged to my Uncle. I played this instrument at my Uncle’s house, ever since I was a young boy. I sadly lost my Uncle last year.
