  • Fire Rooster 1957 A Fire Rooster’s image is his most prized possession. He spends an inordinate amount of time trying to look good. To others he may appear vain. He flaunts a dramatic style, yet he is a brilliant social organizer who loves to plan parties and gatherings. Fire Cocks do have a tendency to be bossy and this combined with their innate bluntness often causes hurt feelings and bruised egos with friends and co-workers. In spite of these challenges these Roosters make great leaders, always creative, diligent and motivated. In matters of Love the Rooster fares best with the Ox, Snake and occasionally the Dragon. Expect conflict with the Rat, Tiger, Rabbit, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, and other Roosters. The Dog will bore you The Sheep requires lots of compromise. Wood signs will feed Fire, Water Signs will quench their heat. Earth signs will be created by Fire, Metal Signs will be melted by Fire. With just these few simple concepts the Fire Cock can seek the partner of their greatest compatibility In short marry a Wood Oxen or Snake Avoid the Water Rat. Roosters are generally pretty black or white when it comes to their feelings. They like you, or they don’t, / nothing in between. Vocal with opinions and ideas, Roosters can be tight-lipped about their personal emotions and feelings. They don’t wear their hearts on their sleeves. They are intensely private people who never kiss and tell. Roosters are not easy to live with. If you can get past their bossy, obstinate, my way or no way exterior, you find a wonderfully romantic, caring individual hidden beneath. Heart of solid gold and they genuinely care about their family and friends as much as they care about themselves. Not suited for a sensitive partner, their candor and wit can be humiliating many times. Roosters are often highly critical of their partners, expecting too much of them. / Roosters need a stable companion, someone who can take everything he dishes out. He needs someone who will stand up to him and his mincing words and quickly put him in place when need be. Roosters need partners who will deflate them when they are too high on themselves and at the same time tolerate their constant boasting. The Chinese lunar calendar is considered to be the longest chronological record of time, dating back to 2637 BC when the zodiac was first introduced. Each Chinese lunar year is represented by an animal sign. Lord Buddha realizing he was about to reach the final level of enlightenment requested a meeting with all the animals of the world so he could bless them. Only twelve animals responded. In recognition of their devotion, Lord Buddha then named each year of the twelve-year cycle in their honor. Each year is named according to the order in which the animals appeared before him. For centuries this system of five basic elements and twelve personality types has been used to help compatible couples find happiness and marital bliss. In the past matching was usually done by a village matchmaker. It is my intention to combine this ancient system of finding love with the modern internet. Millions of people use internet matchmaking sites only to find matches half way around the world. For a fraction of the price, you can buy your personalizes Chinese astrology shirt and the shirts of those best suited for you and start to wear them. Who knows a Fire Rabbit may just walk up to you and say “I have been looking for you all my life” Or you may be wearing a Water Tiger shirt and someone absolutely perfect says, “Hey that’s my sign” So let my grand social experiment begin.

  • This shot is of a couple of 1957 Chevrolets, They have sat here as long as I can remember, so long in fact that the very shelter that they were once protected by has collapsed and a tree has grown into the bumper. They are most likely destined to be hauled in for scrap metal eventually so I enjoy getting the chance to preserve them in the only way that I can.

  • In January the evening doesn’t start until well after most shoppers have left the city area. The transport to move inhabitants around was ‘Trams’, a fixed rail system in the middle of the city roads. To protect travelers there are raised guide barrier alongside the waiting area in the middle of the road for the tram passengers. This makes it a ‘Safety Zone’ for passengers. This system is still in 2009 the basis of passenger protection. You have to cross to it from the safety of the footpath, when traffic light block the movement of traffic between the footpath and the safety zone.

  • It was possible to exit Flinders Street station in 1957 by several routes. This was one of them which lead out onto Flinders street itself by going under signage for “Canns’ a very important general store of the time, long since gone. The problem for the photographer in the early morning was that you were looking due East into the lately risen sun. This was taken on Kodachrome 8 ASA film on an Exacta camera 20091215 128 views

  • I got here a little earlier than most times and there were some shoppers going to catch trains or trams. The traffic on the road was a little more than usual showing how the trams are restricted to the centre of the road with only two lanes of traffic passing between them and the footpath

  • In 1967 I traveled to America on this plane. Our fist night out from Sydney brought us at about 6,.00 am to Canton Island a little dot in the Pacific We had a short break here while the plane was refuelled, and then took off for Honolulu. No security guards etc at that time as people were still trusted. The flights were long but comfortable, and it was a privilege to have experienced them.

  • It was not the statue which took my eye, but the people hanging around. I had expected a spot in the centre of a street crossing with cars zipping all directions while Eros stood supreme, and aloof over all around. There waere no traffic lights, just a lazy air ti what to do.

  • Euston station, and the aqpproach to was one of the highlights of my visit as I was staying in Bloomsbury. I found it exciting to watch a train come in, the doors open, and people pile out. The construction of the building with its ceiling lines was fantastic. / The taxis waiting in line beside the platform showed forward thinking.

  • The red buses of England were a surprise, and then I visited Scotland and they had blue buses. After London it was good to be back in the sort of traffic density I had been used to in Australia 20091215 100 views

  • This was taken Sunday morning just after a local church service ended. Until then the street could only be described as deserted.

  • The Swiss railway system was a joy to travel on. I did one night trip which had to be canceled when an accident occurred on the track ahead. The staff were excellent in getting a dumb Australian who could only speak OZ to change trains, and go by a completely different route to get to his destination not on original time, but close enough that no major connections were missed.

  • The English seem to take delight in feeding pigeons. It is often about the worst thing that can be done for either the birds or the environment. Taken with an Exacta camera on Kodachrome film.

  • You cannot go to Trafalgar square without seeing pigeons, and folk feeding them. Some young people were very brave. Taken with Exacta camera on Kodachrome film.
