This is the old Model Store in Boorowa,NSW. Established in 1919.
This artwork of a 1919 post card is typical of the way cards were mass produced, so to speak—in the early days. One theme fit all. / Just change the name or town. In this view – I included the message on the back side, part of it anyway. The show goes on, I have hundreds of similar cards in my collection. Some are fairly new, like the 1960’s ?? My intention is to get all the good ones on RedBubble and my own website / Stay tuned
Remembrance Day – also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day (the event it commemorates) or Veterans Day – is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War. It is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918. The day was specifically dedicated by King George V, on 7 November 1919, to the observance of members of the armed forces who were killed during war, this was possibly done upon the suggestion of Edward George Honey to Wellesley Tudor Pole, who established two ceremonial periods of remembrance based on events in 1917 / info taken from Wikipedia This is dedicated to my grandfather Henry E Cottrell a civilian killed during WWII and to all the other casualties of war.

Taken in 1919 in Durant, Oklahoma. My Aunt Kathyrin was in college at Southeastern University in Durant. She became a teacher and taught in Oklahoma until the 1950’s when her husband and Mother passed away. She then retired and moved along with her brother, My Uncle Bill, to Garden Grove, Ca. (Near Disneyland). She then went back to college and obtained another teaching degree. She taught 2nd grade (Mrs. Bone) in GG until she retired in the mid 1970’s. She was a sweet and gentle loving person whom I miss dearly. She never had any children but would always tell me she didn’t mind, because she had me. She lived to be 100 years 2 months and 1 day old. In Ada, Oklahoma July 27th is Kathyrin Bone day. I have the declaration from the Mayor hanging on my wall at home. / I feel so fortunate to have had her, and my loving Grandparents. Also very fortunate to have been left all of these wonderful treasures. / Thanks for taking the time to read and view. :)
The naked earth is warm with Spring, / And with green grass and bursting trees / Leans to the sun’s gaze glorying, / And quivers in the sunny breeze; And life is colour and warmth and light, / And a striving evermore for these; / And he is dead who will not fight; / And who dies fighting has increase. The fighting man shall from the sun / Take warmth, and life from the glowing earth; / Speed with the light-foot winds to run, / And with the trees to newer birth; / And find, when fighting shall be done, / Great rest, and fullness after dearth.
