  • Okay… I’ve recieved some quesstions about this shot. I took this at an airshow earlier in the year. The announcer warned the crowed that the plane was going to do a high speed pass approaching the sound barrier to create the cone effect (which appears just before breaking the speed of sound). Yes… it was very difficult to focus and pan to get this shot. Luckily, I managed to keep it in the frame. My equipment: Canon EOS 5D with 100-400L zoom. Thanks for your comments.

  • Long exposure shot with my Contax G2 at a station in Birmingham UK. I hope to expand this image into a series maybe a similar shot on ever station on this line. • John 6: 18-19 “by then a strong wind was blowing and stirring up the water… / they had rowed out about 5 or 6 kilometres when they saw him walking on the water, coming near the boat… and they were terrified”. Acrylic on Canvas / Original for Sale $250 (not including postage /packaging)

  • If these birds have just eaten, things could get pretty messy. (Did I just make a poop joke? Have I sunk so low? A poop joke? Seriously?)

  • Charcoal drawing, photo and Apophysis overlays

  • Last one of these, I promise! Also see Twirled and Twirled Again. (I’m real creative with names and stuff.) This time I kept seeing it as some undersea creature/plant, so I gave it a green tint. Please see my Etsy listing for this image – and purchase a pearlescent metallic print of this beautiful photograph!

  • A shot of some flower stems and buds that reminded me of space and the cosmos. And then of CS Lewis and his Space Trilogy, for some reason. I have yet to read it. But I love the name of that book. Please see my Etsy listing for this image – and purchase a pearlescent metallic print of this mysterious image. This photo is seen in two of my calendars – please take a look at them! / Everyday Mysteries A Bouquet

  • My heart beats to what rhythm? I ask, and where? / It’s the same at all pulse points, like sounds of a snare; Yet, I have no drumsticks or pedals, it seems / as if nature has a part, in this beating scheme; I will venture outside to investigate closer / connections to this pounding, and its composer; I look to the sky, not the same rhythm there, / then look to the ground, and kneel as in prayer; The beat’s getting stronger, so I lay down to rest, / the bass beating deeper, like out of my chest; Caressing the Earth, soon the rhythm entwines / it comes from this planet – a harmony divine; Convinced of the bond, between earth and sky, / I look up again, as Spirit Eagle flies by; With drum made of elk hide, with my own hand, / I begin beating rhythm, for Mother Nature’s band; I asked and pursued answers, until I believed / I deserved confirmation, so musically received; I’ll become ‘her’ drum major and advocate peace, / so the beat goes on further than my nephews and niece. WindOwl 2007 Earth Drum Ten Billion BEATS is asking for your drumming heart to participate in a plan to circle the Earth with a resounding rhythm of unity for all peoples, all faiths, all nations and all hopes and dreams. By joining in celebration with others, we will send a wave of focused intent through every time zone around the globe. Friday, September 18, 2009 at 7pm for one hour of drumming about 4 beats per second, which corresponds with Theta range of human brain activity. The INTENTION: Focus on non-doctrinaire, non-political, non-religious intention. As we all drum we will hold this thought sending it around the planet and beyond on a not so silent pulse. As we celebrate, there are no enemies, only those whom we wish the following… / PEACE to EARTH – GOODWILL on HUMANKIND

  • I caught up with my thoughts just before Greytown, the storm caught up with me shortly after.

  • Natural Light Beer – Inspired by my brother.. since he’s a fan of this…. always talking about Natty Light and how popular it is among college students everywhere.. and it’s cheap beer, also.

  • I wonder where this path leads? During a motorcycle trip to Georgia, I passed by this scene and just had to turn around. The ground fog was just wicked, it was shrouding this path which I presume belongs to a rural farm. Taken with the Nikon D300 and Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens. HDR processing and Orton effect applied, as well as some dodge & burn.

  • So I recently returned back to one of my favorite sites to photograph. This is the Whalehead Hunt Club in Currituck, North Carolina. Currituck Lighthouse is also visible on the left. This particular morning was just beautiful, very rare to have hardly any wind coming across Currituck Sound. The reflection turned out awesome, in my opinion. Image has been processed through Redynamix for the HDR look and also had the Orton effect applied. Best viewed in large. / Image made with tripod mounted Nikon D200, Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8, remote shutter release.

  • This one’s for all you digital photographers out there (I think you’re the only ones that’ll get it!) For you none digital photographers; it’s to do with setting the exposure in their highly complicated cameras…. or something like that.

  • Sandhill cranes prepare to fly to warmer climes. Clouds enshroud the Kenai mountains behind them as they fly over Cook Inlet. I had this printed quite large and feel delighted with the clarity of the cranes! Dedicated to Australia’s Barbara Burkhardt, with whom I had tea and a moment of joy. Wonderful subtle sense of humor (humour).. I feel fortunate to have met this adventuous, talented woman and her handsome husband as they toured Alaska. I assume all Australians are as fun. Nikon D200, Nikkor 18-200mm VR, 3771×2523 px Featured in Alaska ~ Beyond Your Dreams – an honor Geese returning last spring against the same Kenai mountains without the cloud cover / Sandhill cranes catching a thermal over Cook Inlet / High tide at about 9 p.m. last night /

  • Did you ever visit a place where you completely forget what year it is now? Once we walked through the front gate of the brewery we thought we stepped into 1850s. I would call it The Time Machine of Goulburn city. You walk in and for $5.20 it takes you 150 years back (tastings included). Built in the middle of 19 century it is one of the oldest surviving breweries in Australia. Beautiful place, with a lot of history in it and it is history that can be seen, touched and photographed. And the best part – it is a working brewery where good old traditional ale is still produced. This was a situation where I wished I had a wider lens than my universal Nikon 18-200mm. The window was very close to a wall and it was hard to fill the frame. I managed to find a little square of space on the stairs leading to the 2nd floor and set up my tripod there. Next steps were easy: 3 RAW merged in HDR, then tonemapped and post-processed. From my photoblog at http://www.bouncedphoton.com This print is available with 0% markup. Please enjoy and thank you for your visit!

  • Our part-time gardener. / Why hike for four hours, only to find a bull moose pruning bushes and tree in our ‘burb? We enjoyed a good, long hike with intermittent rain and spotted two bull moose far in the distance. Too far away to capture. What better welcome home party than this cutie safe in our suburbs. I cropped part of the power lines and added a light blue tint to the sky, since it was raining and grey and drizzly. Thanks to Peter Davidson for the video on Hoots mon, there’s a moose loose aboot this hoose D200 and Nikkor 18-200mm And another coy view with a yellow birch leaf. Did not remove road sign from behind his rack to add a certain verisimilitude. Sure wish it were the sign that reads: Moose Crossing. Photo links to my website. About size and weight, wikipedia has this to say: / “On average, an adult moose stands 1.8–2.1 m (6–7 ft) high at the shoulder. Males weigh 380–720 kg (850–1580 pounds) and females weigh 270–360 kg (600–800 pounds).[7] The largest of all is the Alaskan subspecies (A. a. gigas), which can stand over 2.1 m (7 ft) at the shoulder, has a span across the antlers of 1.8 m (6 ft) and averages 634.5 kg (1,396 lbs) in males and 478 kg (1,052 lbs) in females.[8] Typically, however, the antlers of a mature specimen are between 1.2 m (3.9 ft) and 1.5 m (4.9 ft).”

  • 2009 NAS Oceana Airshow. Despite the overall lousy weather, I managed to get a few keepers. Here is a nice vapor burst around the 30yr Anniversary Marine F/A-18 Hornet.
