Over 700 hundred years old majestic building in Turku, Finland. the castle was used to defend the city against the enemy. It was built on an island, but there is no island anymore. The surroundings have dried up. Only a small river flows within a stone’s throw.
Taken in the grounds of Elvaston Castle, Derbyshire.
Originally built as a small manor house in the 14th century, this building is a rare example of such an early domestic dwelling in the south west corner of England. It’s life as a post office began in the 19th century, when Sir Rowland Hill’s introduction of the Penny Postage in 1840 led to the improvement of postal services in remote country places like Tintagel. In 1892 the owner of the Old Post Office decided to sell it for redevelopment, and the General Post Office moved its business across the street. By 1895 the building had become virtually derelict and was put up for auction. In 1900 the National Trust agreed to buy the building from a Miss Johns for a nominal £200, raised by public appeal. The purchase was subject to a lease to Miss Johns for her lifetime and the building was finally vested in the Trust in 1903.
At sunset on 14th May 2007, this approaching storm approached across the fields around our home and ultimately led to me getting very wet on a 500 metre or so run for cover as it hit.
For Valentine’s Day 2008
Love does many Strange things to us… Affects us all in different ways…
Does True Love ever Fade away ?
I cannot believe how light it still is, we have had another wonderful day, yet my friend who lives about 12 miles away had hail stones and snow showers. England is a very funny country weather wise. / I take most of the night shots out of the bedroom window and the house is covered in ivy, hence the leaves on the right. haha

Interesting monuments in the Bada Bagh of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India are the Cenotaphs. These cenotaphs also known as chattris and were constructed by the various Bhatti rulers. One cenotaph has been erected for each ruler. The oldest among them is the cenotaphs of Maharawal Jait Singh who reigned from 1470-1506. This tradition was discontinued when in 1947, one of the prince died of a mysterious disease. This was taken as a bad omen and thus this tradition came to its end.

I will be the gladdest thing / Under the sun! / I will touch a hundred flowers / And not pick one. / I will look at cliffs and clouds / With quiet eyes, / Watch the wind bow down the grass, / And the grass rise. / And when lights begin to show / Up from the town, / I will mark which must be mine, / And then start down!
