Well, the Yashica didn’t work out, so I decided to wind the clock back another few decades It’s an English box camera from the 1940s. A Houghton Ensign Ful-View. I am going to make a neutral filter for it tomorrow so that it doesn’t wash out every darn photo with modern film, then it’s ready to go. The wonderful Jess and I will have our sip ‘n snap adventure soon, and all the results (for good an bad) will be inflicted on everyone through my journal Isn’t it awesome? It just screams use me!

  • I shot this lovely picture in Essaouira on the Moroccan coast with my rather tetchy Holga camera which uses 120mm film. Holgas are loved by photographers for the erratic results they produce and the interesting speckling which the plastic lens creates and random light leaks and vignetting….I know this doesn’t sound so great in this age of digital perfection, but it’s actually a very charming effect and Holga images are increasingly popular. So please note, that this is not a 100% ‘clean’ image and that’s all part of the charm!

  • This is the first medium format print that I’ve uploaded to RB, I’ve been experimenting in the darkroom recently, and I’ll upload more of this stuff soon. Camera: Mamiya c33

  • Taken at 10 in my front garden. Exposure was a minute with full apperture.

  • Holga CFN camera, 120 mm film. / Frosty tree on a sunny december morning in The Netherlands.

  • officer on horse back, shot with a Holga 120. in a digital world, film is a nice change.

  • Pick of the role – some syntilating succulents from our back garden. Camera: Mamiya c33, with Mamiya-Sekor 65mm lens on tripod Film: 120mm ILFORD FP4 Exposure: roughly f16 at a secound or so

  • A beautiful bluestone lane with a chair? Film: Porta colour slide (120mm) Camera: Mamiya c33 (65mm mamiya-sekor lens) Exposure: Somewhere around f4 on 1/60. The focus is maybe too shallow, although some enjoy the effect.

  • This is my new Ukranian Kiev 88 Medium format camera system. It is essentially a blatant copy of the Hasselblad 1000s or 1600f, at a fraction of the price. The upside of buying this reasonably priced hunk of cast aluminiam, is that it takes Zeiss, Pentacon 6 and other lenses. Camera: Mamiya c33, Sekor-Mamiya 65mm lens Film: ILFORD FP4 Exposure: 1/60 at f2.8 Tripod used

  • Some tasty walnuts from the farmers market. I decided on a low depth of field to crisp up their grooved and cracked surfaces. Camera: Mamiya c33 with Sekor-Mamiya 65mm lens Film: Kodak 160vc Portra (colour slide film) ISO 160 Exposure: ...roughly 1/60th at f4 Tripod used

  • Yeah, probably a little cliche and over used, but I had to find something my new Kiev 88’s ridiculously fast, fun, and unnessessary shutter speed of 1/1000th of a secound could snap! Camera: Kiev 88, with Arsat 80mm lens Film: Ilford Delta 400 (120mm) ISO was 160 Exposure: 1/1000 of a secound at f5.6 Tripod used

  • Thank god for spell-check! Camera: Mamiya c33 with 65mm lens Exposure: around f8 at 1/60th on tripod Film: Kodak 160VC (120mm) ISO @ 160 / .

  • walking out of Demos, restaurant, mamiya in hand, saw this image of the buildings, it just seemed right, then this guy comes walking across, i ended up taking this one over the one without him… go figure

  • Life goes on, down by the river. Folks are peacefully mingling about the World Trade Center complex. I imagine this must have been just like this on Sept. 10th, 2001. Oddly enough, if you look really close at the left side of this image, (at the second set of palm tree trunks inside the building), does it not appear as if one of the towers is kicking out a white cloud and above the cloud it appears to be crumbling? Crap, not sure that I can leave this posted now, I just can’t bear watching images of the towers pancaking and coming down …. Taken with Nikon D200 and Nikkor 24-120mm lens. HDR image created from single RAW image using ReDynaMix. / Best viewed in Large for sure! This image is currently on display at the Walls Fine Art gallery in Downtown Norfolk, VA. Price here closely matches gallery price.
