A few days ago Shelly Hiebert asked for us to post a self-portrait, so that we can emerge from behind the camera and others can learn a little more about the shooter. Well, I learnt how incredibly difficult it is to take a decent self-portrait. I think I finally got one I don’t mind sharing, it depicts a day in my life that will haunt me forever. Taken with Nikon D300, Sigma 28mm f/2.8 MF lens and SB800. If you would like to participate in this challenge, please follow this link

Nikon D60, Sigma 50-500mm. Tripod mounted Tried my first shot of the moon last night but was so interrupted. I had another go at it tonight and pleased with the results. Photoshop work….a wee tad of sharpening and cropping, otherwise straight off the camera. / Our full moon will be in two nights (13th Dec) or so it says on the Net
Nikon D60, Sigma 50-500mm / F/6.3 1/160sec A good way to beat the summer heat – get outside in the breeze and watch the moon rise. Shot from my front yard last night (Perth, WA)

I know I already put this car up but I want to enter it into a challenge. I like this shot better with the door open. This is how the doors really open. This one says Happy 11th Birthday Son for the challenge. This car is such a piece of art. Thank you for checking out my new work. Troy W. Smith

A balance between the government and people. / The very rich invest in their community in balance with the government, this includes talking to the people to find out what is needed in their area. / Young and old minds need stimulation, without this children and adults have no self worth and have nothing to aim for in their lives.Young children and many adults have lost the means of communication, this is one of the most important things needed in our community. / This has been going on for so many years, yet government s just don’t listen, why? It’s there, it’s been spoken about for many years and yet more children are drawn into crime by their “new street family”, no selfworth, nothing to aim for, no future and broken familys. This is happening around the world in most country’s yet governments still don’t get it! / The 11th commandment is about all people, no matter what colour or culture / it’s about change and understanding, it’s about communication, listening and investing in the most important thing we all have…...life.

Coquelicots de France, red poppies in Remembrance
On 10 September 2001 I was completing a film shoot in Manhattan. The shoot was all night and when I got back to my room at The Hudson I couldn’t sleep. I showered and went for a bagel at about 0600. I spent the morning walking around Times Square until i had to catch my flight back to Atlanta. I had my Contax G1 in the plane and as we flew over Manhattan I shot the World Trade Center from my window. One year later the same client flew me back to NYC for a shoot and I captured this view of Ground Zero. In March of 2002 I re-enlisted in the Army Reserves after 30 years out of uniform. I am still in service currently. Proceeds from any sales of this image will be donated to a scholarship fund for children who have lost parents in US military combat action in Iraq, Afghanistan or elsewhere. “Those who ‘abjure’ violence can only do so because others are committing violence on their behalf.” / George Orwell
This is part of the 9-11 Memorial on the grounds of Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. This year they flew 3,000 large American flags in honor of the lives that were lost. It was a humbling sight. – Sept 2008 Nikon D200, Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens
11 – Affective Commitment/Breaking Tradition The eleventh house of Aquarius and Uranus, with the element of Air – Influences this month, in addition to your personal natal aspects. The 11th House re-presents our objectives in life, our social conscience and our relationships with our friends – socially and one-on-one. Remember that your friends and helpers are stronger than your enemies. This is the most social of houses, as it decides which groups are your peers. Your friends and allies, the type of organizations you are drawn to and how you act in group situations. Examples: Goals and objectives; friendships; social relationships; hopes, wishes, projects, and ambitions; index to the idea of happiness and the probability of attaining it; personal and emotional desires; higher levels of consciousness; if ruler of the 11th house is stronger than the 7th house ruler (in personal natal aspects), your allies are stronger than your enemies; Interaction with the world – relating your creativity to humanity. ©TKRosevear 2007 / Excerpt from Chapter One/Earthly Cycles – Sailing through the 7C’s Full Story
This graphite pencil sketch shows the WTC attack in the mind of an American, and the resulting emotion: anger. Display with pride and rememberance for our lost fellow Americans, and in defiance towards terrorism.

11th night bonfires in Northern Ireland are now more of a festival, with many parents and young children attending. I can remember them as dangerous in my youth. Still plenty of drunks about, but friendly instead of violent. This is one of the organisers, who was celebrating finally getting the bonfire to light. Orangefield Park, Belfast, Northern Ireland.
