HDR image of a Steinway Piano at a friends’ home. She’s quite an accomplished artist herself, she painted the images behind the piano in Tuscany Italy. I’m looking for a good title for this image, this piano hasn’t been played in years. This is a re-post of my Silent Night image, this one without the black border. I had taken this to work one day, matted and framed and sold three copies of it that day ….. Taken with Nikon D200 and Tokina 12-24mm lens. The Icelandic Harvester. / / When I came across this old vessel moored to the pier my imagination started running wild with scenarios of what life aboard this wooden vessel would have been like. I could almost feel the sineous texture of the ropes as they hung there coated in the ice cold saltwater of the frigid North Atlantic Ocean. I could nearly hear the calls of the sailors as they shouted commands back and forth across her weather beaten decks as the waves crashed down upon her on any one of her numerous voyages. What sights must have been seen as sailors of old lined the rails to peer down at the mysteries of the sea. My origami calendar / / Just one sheet makes a big difference; / One sheet that can make over 2000 cranes. / Each crane a step closer to a better world; / Each piece a step closer to peace. Each square in the grid paper is 5×5mm; and to be exact, there were 2028 full squares in the paper When I was in grade 5 our teacher read “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes” to our class. Sadako Sasaki was infected with leukemia. She spent her days folding cranes and making wishes upon them; wishing for her health and for a more peaceful world (the quote above is my writing inspired by the story of the thousand paper cranes). This concept was originally created in 2008, and photographed without a tripod. But now I have a tripod and decided to re-shoot this again and re-uploaded it on September 6, 2009. It was a dreary and grey day today. The fog was so thick so I decided to go for a drive to one of the lighthouses. This is an old outhouse hanging over the edge of the cliff next to the lighthouse. This is what the lighthouse keeper would use to scratch that itch… lol. A belated description. / This is an ode to unhealthy relationships. Not the ones where you have an argument every once in a while, or maybe lots of little ones all over the place, but otherwise everything is peachy keen. This is to the other kind, even or uneven, where one or the other has to protect themselves, in all kinds of ways. Do they stay and learn how to take it, or protect themselves better? Or do they lose everything except their freedom and fly away? I have placed the ‘fight’ bride in a small area that is cramped and hard to breathe, holding her dress and hair up as a barrier. Whereas our ‘flight’ bride has lots of space to move, is making herself free of the confines of the dress, taking down the barrier.
