I logged on this morning to find I had sold a card of Rockin’ Christmas! This has really made my day and cheered me up, as I wasn’t in the best of moods having to go into work and face a 9 hour shift!! I have a feeling I might know who it is who bought it, as someone did mention they were going to buy it, but I could be wrong! Whoever did buy it, a BIG Thank You goes out to you!!

The local ABC radio station just called me and said that they would like to use a picture I took of a dandelion as the image on their official Christmas Card. How Cool is that!!! I won’t get paid for it because I submitted it to their webpage so they get to do what they like with it…but it’s a bit more exposure…Apparently the bosses asked for it to be the image!!!! It’s definately not my best work….but they like it. I won’t be around much the next few days – attending a wedding and the inlaws are visiting… So have a great couple of days everyone / Cheers all / Naomi. Just realised I have uploaded it….it’s way at the back of my portfolio with hardly any comments. You can click here if you’d like to leave a comment. /

We’re going to be rolling out “express delivery” as an option later today, which means there’s a few extra days up your sleeve to get your orders in time for Christmas. Monday December 24 is probably cutting it a little fine, so working back from Friday the 21st with a 5–10 business day delivery window for express delivery and a little allowance for time zones, that means Saturday December 8th is the absolute last day to safely place your orders for Christmas with Express Shipping. We’ll do everything we possibly can to make this all work, but please get your orders in as soon as possible. Go go go! — Justin

I don’t normally endorse something unless I’ve been there myself; But in this case I will make the exception. / This is for the Adelaide/SA members who are undecided on a great location to MeetUp, yet want somewhere close, relatively inexpensive and perfect for all their needs/wants: It appears one of our newer members to Redbubble and Adelaide/SA works at the Mannum Motel , Mannum Caravan Park and Murraylands Photography Tours! They can reveal themselves if they wish to tell all. But they have given a great idea that would suit everyone, and is fairly priced. This is the program they suggest. On arrival, meet at our conference room when ready / DAY 1 / ... A Night Walk : River / Church / old Buildings / Riverfront (maybe Sunset shots) / Sleep comfortable in Caravan or OnSite Chalet. DAY 2 / ... Early morning River Photography : Ferries / PS Marion / Lagoons / Bird Life / Breakfast/brunch (catered? or BYO?) / or / Xmas Lunch / ... More Photography : Water falls, Railway Bridges, Boulder Outcrops / Evening Dinner (or BBQ at Caravan Park?) / ... Sun Set on the river, and night walk for those keen / ... Day break River Cruise ($30?pp) / Farewell BBQ Brunch/lunch COST (estimate only) / $130/$150pp (twin Share) for 2 nights, cruise, continuous tea and coffee! Conference room available all the time to meet. Also have open-area in front of the new cafe for sunny socialising! / Cafe open really early so those who bring partners who dont want to get woken up early can just get up, get dressed and come in for a coffee! / Apparently Steve Chapple knows this person the place well. Extras: / Deserted Mines and private property access to waterfalls $60/hour for group (3-4hrs) / Big Bend by Night cliffs, Sunnydale shearing shed and homestead, deserted town, 6 hours guided $360

Yea, its so exciting for me, I will post pictures soon on this site. But I went into a newsagents today and bought the magazine (issue no. 68) and guess what I have a 7 page spread. Its so fabulous. The editor Trevor Lang did a really good story for me and the pictures are so great. Redbubble did not get mentioned but that must be for a reason? But its something for me to be proud of. I hope that if you live in Australia you can go to your newsagents and buy it today…..its sealed so you can’t take a peak at it. But please buy it and tell me what you think. I am so excited to be published. BillyLee

As is customary for this time of year, I’m taking a little break to lie on a beach and forget what my computer looks like. I’ll be back early January with a suntan, ‘enough sleep’ and three extra kilos. Have fun, and in true worry wart style, here are the emergency numbers to stick on the fridge… Something is broken, you found it like that, honest – Help Forum / The Daily Wrap needs extra topping – Faizan / It’s nearly Christmas – Where’s my order / The forums need love and cuddles – Natalie / When in doubt – email support See you soon :) Jo

Hi I really like journalling about my sales, for a number of reasons. Some people feel it’s akin to bragging and rather shallow, but there are different ways of going about a sales journal, so that they can also be interesting and newsy. One great benefit of a sales journal is that customers who are first time buyers actually get to see products that are selling, and it helps to create a feeling of trust between the artist, the buyer and the manufacturer of the goods. I think that’s really important. I know myself, that as a potential customer, i really look for this type of thing before committing to buy. What customer doesn’t want to see sales that have been successfully made prior to them purchasing something. Journalling and blogging about sales, also allows me to draw attention to some of my older works and it reminds me that art that you’ve done a while ago, can still be appreciated… new work is always important and to keep it fresh and maintain a high standard, but it’s so wonderful when someone buys your work, and it’s nice to celebrate that a little. It also reminds me, that series I did in the past, like the asia series, still has appeal…the more I dwell on it, the more inspired I become. Perhaps I think about doing another series of this type in the future…etc. I also enjoy the additional opportunity we sometimes get in these journals for a bit more interaction with each other, when we have the time. It’s also a way of saying thank you to the buyer who remains anonymous, as was the case this afternoon, when I noticed I had a few sales, and so i thought I’d mention them here, as it’s not possible to thank them personally: / thank you so much to the buyers of these greeting cards from my early Asia Series / thank you also to the buyers of the above Christmas Cards, a reminder of how close we are getting to the 25th of December!! yikes…! so sorry i haven’t been around much lately, there’s a lot going on my end, but i hope to be getting around to see your new works soon, i miss them and i miss you all… love karin ps… i dunno if it’s my imagination or not, but after a sales journal, usually more sales follow

Please check out Rosie’s wonderful whimsical portfolio, it’s sweet and so is Rosie! ..i guess the idea behind the series is that at times we take life so seriously and it’s good to have a little bit of a lighthearted look at ourselves and a fit of giggles now and then is good for the soul.. probably a good one to have on the back of the toilet door :) / Rear of Calendar To view each artwork larger and read the captions, please click on the appropriate month: / Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug / Sep Oct Nov Dec

Kokeshi (こけし, kokeshi?) are simply wooden (木, ki, ko?) or small (小, ko?) dolls (芥子, keshi) originally from northern Japan. They are handmade from wood, have a simple trunk and an enlarged head with a few thin, painted lines to define the face. The body has a floral design painted in red, black, and sometimes yellow, and covered with a layer of wax. One characteristic of kokeshi dolls is their lack of arms or legs. The bottom is marked with the signature of the artist. (Wiki:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kokeshi) / Ben My otomusuko (younger son) Ben who turns 13 in December, made this beautiful timber kokeshi doll for me during his Japanese Studies class… it remains unfinished in the raw timber state, and i really quite like it that way. I found this old tin and it fit her perfectly for a litte photo shoot this morning. / Ben’s Kokeshi with Sarah my choujo (eldest daughter) who is 17 now, in the insert wearing a beautiful kimono she was dressed up in by a shopkeeper in Japan, she has just come home from a 2 week stay in Japan with a host family Kokeshi were first produced by Kiji-shi (wood artisans) at the Shinchi Shuraku, near the Togatta Onsen, Zaō, Miyagi Prefecture5 from where kokeshi making techniques spread to other spa areas in the Tōhoku Region. It is said that these dolls were originally made during the middle of the Edo period (1600–1868) to be sold to people who were visiting the hot springs in the north-east of the country. A few of my own kokeshi designs below: / The woods used for kokeshi vary, with cherry used for its darkness and dogwood for its softer qualities. Itaya-kaede, a Japanese maple, is also used in the creation of both traditional and creative dolls. The wood is left outdoors to season for one to five years before it can be used.

Terrific news!! Some wonderful person just purchased 3 things from me, all in the shape of baby bulls…and I am thrilled, thank you so much!!! / / A matted print of Baby Bull Production Baby Bull Production is something I created not that long ago. It’s a mixed media piece on canvas textured paper……i did it in response to the chilled out cows at Mullumbimby, northern New South Wales, who seem to be very laid back, i suspect they are indulging in the ‘other’ kind of grass also……. they have this real chilled look about them, and I’ve never seen cows anywhere else that have this way about them. I put it in the Casino Art Exhibition and it was the only painting that sold, every year a male school teacher goes to that show, or so the legend goes…….and purchases a piece……it was my lucky year. Tonight I was asked if I’d ever sold a painting in a gallery…well, yes, and at exhibitions and privately. To date I believe I have sold between 30 and 40 original paintings, which I am very proud of…..in the early days 2002 I was very prolific, things have slowed down a bit with my painting now, because i am much more deliberate and take a lot of time to imbue my paintings with layers and love and depth…..it is just how i have grown as an artist, it is nice to report that there is growth along the journey…(and sales lol)!!! Somebody also has a print of these cows and loves them very much from what I understand lol You may recall/or not, that Baby Bull Production was featured in the “Griffith Review” University Publication… quite a few months ago I was honoured to be contacted by the Griffith REVIEW which is a publication of topical essays, memoirs and reports by some of the best writers and artists Australia has to offer, which is put out by Griffith University 4 times a year in the form of a book / A matted print of Moo Cow Sunrise Family Moo Cow Sunrise is usually over at my other Red Bubble Shop called Migaloomagic but I need to order a few things, and it saves me postage if I upload this design to my main portfolio. Many of you will have probably seen it before, if so, please don’t feel you need to comment. There is a lovely calendar available from my Migaloomagic store also full of bright beautiful happy kids images, just perfect for going back to school and keeping track of time :) / Baby Bull Production TShirt Thank you again :)

Xmas Tree Hugs to everyone!!! The Season is truly upon us hey….busy people bustling everywhere, the heat’s a shocker in these parts too, and the only joy I find in shopping is the air conditioning !! My car has no air cond…so I look like a drowned and cranky rat by the time I enter the cool interiors of the shops…and I am sure the retailers look upon me with suspicion as i loiter in cool doorways pretending to be interested in Christmas goodies…lol / Tree Hugs Oh how I yearn for a wintery Christmas, just once!! just once!!! oh puleeeeeze, this heat is killin’ me…. at least I have air con in my studio….so it’s an enticement to create more art than usual….perhaps I will be more productive as I slink out into my studio for some much needed cool refreshment….oh if only I had a loo out there (and a bed might be a nice addition too) however I do have a lounge…upon which I found a lovely redback spider crawling just 2 day ago….so i doubt i’ll be getting tooooo comfy out there any time soon!! Also i would very much like a drip feed for coffee…anything that helps prolong my stay in the shed….of course i can make coffee out there…but the constant trips back inside the house to the loo are somewhat distracting….one, i need the coffee to stay awake, I need the cool air to keep me alive and moving, but both these things cause too many toilet trips…so Santa….what say you to some plumbing??? / Tree Hugs the unadulterated drawing now the real reason for this journal, to thank you delightful NinaMosi for purchasing a card of Tree Hug * Please visit Nina’s portfolio if you’re ever out her way in bubblyland…she does fabulous encaustic artwork that will not disappoint… it’s gorgeous stuff…plus she’s a sweetheart… you may wanna get to know her too :) Thank you Nina, and thank you everyone, and thank you Santa for listening if you’re out there….looks like a big storm over my place is gonna bust the heat right outa this joint PS:* QUESTION What are you guys doing for Christmas this year? Is it hot or cold where you live right now….what sort of yummy food will you be eating, family traditions, etc? bfn / luv yas / KT

Hi everyone, I’ll soon be having a merry little break and missing you all, and I’ll be uploading just one final piece some time today when it’s all finished….but the thing I wanted to bring up with you, was an apology for not being as big a comment/reply person as i usually am. A special thank you.... goes out to all the people here, the ones that i have recently met who have been so wonderful to me, and I’m so pleased for these new friendships that are developing, and also for the old friends who have continued to encourage me and find time to view my works, i so appreciate you… to those who are so busy at this time, I extend my love and understanding, for I know only too well the pressures of life, and that the bubble is a place where we should be able to come to feel refreshed and uplifted and have our creative souls awakened. What’s happened Karin? ......well, I have had a creative flow that just had me up drawing all hours of the night and day, and when not drawing, I was painting (digitally) and even tho I’m at the computer a lot, the work is so long and so engaging over many hours, that really I couldn’t stop… What’s happening next then Karin?. ....well, I’ll be wanting to catch up on all your new works over this coming weekend, and really looking forward to that…..I’ll keep drawing as the mood takes me, but less…. and I’ll be doing those other things that need attending, such as Christmas Cards and tidy house and meeting people for some Christmas cheer… and just basically having more time off the bubble than on I’d say. tomorrow I’ll be out, and Mon and Tue next week I have other stuff on…and by the time I get my Chrissy Cards done, I reckon Santa will be just about on his way… lol Anyway, this is to say MERRY CHRISTMAS I miss you all and want to wish everyone a safe, happy, peaceful time over this busy season…..I also wish you all every success in the coming year, and hope that many new creative projects will be born. I have a brand new creative project which is very exciting with a good friend of mine, she’s a fellow bubbler, but rarely seen in these parts…although we meet for coffee … this is who I’m catching up with next Tuesday…Chris has shot to fame overnight, with recent front page exposure on Yarn Magazine and contributions to same, and with that came a wonderful idea, and I’m in on it….as a little side person, doing some behind the scenes for her… it’s one exciting project, and I’ll talk more about it in the New Year, as the combined collaborative works we achieve will be uploaded to redbubble. But i shall hush and say no more for now… it all adds to the excitement… and suspense :) Merry Christmas everyone, keep safe and stay healthy…...and keep an eye out later on for my latest work, the *Music Box Dancer ... I’ll leave you with a few of my latest works uploaded to redbubble during my frenzied creative time over the last couple of weeks: / / this morning I have been pouring over an ancient scrapbook of mine from my childhood and youth, which i’ve kept under my bed all these years…there were some really meaningful texts in it, which I realise that to this day, I believe in and that’s where a lot of my views on life have come from…things I’ve read and pondered on which have resonated with me as being truth (for me, anyway lol) Friends / How can you call me friend / while showing me only your strengths, / as though to let me view your weaknesses / would lower my opinion of you or make / you less a man. But how can I love you if I do not know you / and how can I know you if I cannot see all of you? / Please do not hide part of yourself from me; / for it’s only when you let me accept your imperfections / as well as your strengths that / we can be truly friends… If you tryly desire to be my friend / you must accept my weaknesses along with my / strengths, / for I shall not attempt to conceal them from you… I cannot be all things to all people… / nor will I try. / And I cannot hide from you the fact that I / make mistakes and am often wrong. I will not attempt to convince you / that I will believe as you believe or perform / as you perform…for this would be impossible. But I will accept you, / if you will accept me…and I will be your friend. But you must accept me as I am…. / for I cannot be what I am not….and / I will not lie to you. / (author unknown) / ..... Non-Verbal Listening / We don’t just / listen with / our ears. We listen / with the / sparkle of our eyes, / the expression of our face, / the way we sit, / and the gestures we use. These all tell / the person talking with us: / “I’m interested in you, / and what you have to say.” We don’t fail to listen by / shutting our ears. These all say: / “I am/Iam not / really interested in you, / or what you have to say. / (author unknown) / ...... / What is Giving? / What is giving? Simple as the answer to / this question seems to be, it is actually / full of ambiguities and complexities. The / most widespread misunderstanding is that / which assums that giving is “giving up” / something, being deprived of, sacrificing. The person whose character has not / developed beyond the stage of the receptive, / exploitative, or hoarding orientation, / experiences the act of giving in this way. The marketing character is willing to give, / but only in exchange for receiving; giving / without receiving for him is being cheated. For the productive character, giving has an / entirely different meaning. Giving is the / highest expression of potency. In the very / act of giving, I experience my strength, my / wealth, my power. I experience myself as / overflowing, spending, alive, hence as joyous. Giving is more joyous than receiving, not / because it is deprivation, but because the / act of giving lies in the expression of my / aliveness. In the sphere of material things, giving means / being rich. Not he who has much is rich, but / he who gives much. / (author unknown) / ....
