I took this picture when I was visiting a friend out in the country. This is actually a day shot, but I burned the sky and such to darken it, and as you can probably tell, added in the large planet things and stars as well, This is my first submission here. I’ve submitted stuff to stock photo sties, but I think I will have a lot of fun posting my more creative stuff on here. Not often do I get to go all out on an image for stock, but here I think I’ll be putting GIMP to good use finally.

This was taken in south western Pennsylvania this fall when the leaves were turning colors. We went for a long ride all afternoon taking photos.

I’m trying to take as many picture as I can of the Star Barn before it is dismantled and moved to a private farm somewhere located in South Central PA.

DETAIL: “The Studio & Spirits Dream” Oil on Canvas. / I spent the last decade uprooted and on the road. I landed in a barn for awhile on a millionaire’s horse ranch, eventually turning the tack room into a studio that was liveable, enabling me to move out of the ranch’s bunkhouse (12 X 12 foot room with sink) and take up barn residence. It was a wonderful place for 4 years with horse pasture – about 200 occupants – out the door. Goats, sheep, mule named Corizon and Rambo the Ram in stalls and paddock on the other side, the Santa Lucia range all misty , mooned, sunned, gusted, and Milky Wayed before me. And it was the first functional studio I’d had in years. I wrote. And I painted. / This dream, this studio I painted there, is crowded with things I loved and hadn’t seen in ages, stored on the other side of America. Over filled with people I’d loved who’d died. With animals alive and not, who still owned my heart. With a chair from my twenties that no longer existed and the dream of my own bed again where such dreams could populate my nights. The cats who survived the move from Brooklyn then to Virginia’s wilderness then across country are on my bed, and some who departed before we got there, here too. My wonderful chocolate Lab – Rodin – is on alert at the bed’s end. A woodstove I’d seen once that would restore life to this heatless barn (I eventually got a kerosene heater). Some of my many thousands of books I carry with me that prop up my life are here, and all the intimate angels swinging through the undone work, the ready easel, the heart’s workplace. The Hawks Perch

Welcome to Pennsylvania! This barn, located near Harrisburg, is quite the famous landmark in our area. My friends and I spent some time photographing the barn in October, 2008 during a ‘photo day’ we took around the area. What a beautiful building! There are plans to dismantle it and move it to another county in the future. It will then become home to many activities and events. You can read more about the Star Barn here.

This old restored barn, caught my eye, since its colors stood out among the trees and shrubs. Notice that it has a metal star on the side. After doing research, it is believed that early German settlers of this area hung stars up to bring good luck. They can be found in stores and some people add them for a decorative touch. This photograph was shot with a Canon 40D in West Chester, Pennsylvania and manipulated with a watercolor effect. /

This barn is part of Shooting Star Ranch is a Horse Ranch owned by Tom Chambers In North Ogden UT / Tom Chambers a local basket ball player in High School and College and then was a first round pick (eighth overall) of the San Diego Clippers in 1981. He played two years in San Diego, and was then acquired by Seattle in 1983 where he played five seasons. After his stint with the Suns, Chambers played two seasons with the Utah Jazz, and then played one full year in Israel. His last full season in the NBA was 1996-97 with Charlotte I’m sure that is why it is called “The Shooting Star”

B is for balloons, and barn! Balloon launch in the evening. These experimental balloons (air craft) are home made and quite a bit daring, and adventurous. An HDR image of the Star Barn outside of Middletown, PA in Dauphin County. It is probably the most photographed barn in the state, at least in the Lancaster/Harrisburg, PA area. Listed in the National Register for Historic Places for Pennsylvania on 7/27/2000. Three exposures (+2.0, 0.0, -2.0) combined using Photomatix Pro 3.0. Nikon D300 and 18 – 200 VR lens. Featured in “Historic Places” – 9/27/09.
