Me and Murph were discussing this jetty today. / We decided its about time that the council or the marine board did some upkeep on it. This was taken when I started experimenting with ND Filters. My first set of filters were Cokin filters and not knowing about the colour cast they gave off I merrily took photographs with them. This one I think kind of worked out with the colour actually enhancing the photograph. Have now moved on to the Lee Filter System – much better.

When I first uploaded this image back when it was first taken I commented in my description that the title reflected where my life was heading at that time. I was in a very dark place with not much light at the end of the tunnel, but I look back now in wonder at how much difference not even a year can make. Now I sit on the verge of a new and exciting life, a new job, new friends, a second chance to make life what I want it to be and not what the darkness in me at that point would have had me believe. I am no longer heading nowhere, I am now heading somewhere, somewhere hopeful, somewhere positive, somewhere joyful, somewhere beautiful. Life is good :) —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / Image Details: Canon 350D, 18-55mm lens @ 46mm / 20 sec, f11, iso 100 / ND400 filter / Levels/Curves/BW conversion in PS / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- 100% of the profit from the sale of my images on Red Bubble will go to supporting research done by the Black Dog Institute into Bipolar Disorder and Depression. Early dawn light at Clifton Springs near Geelong on the Bellarine Peninsula. The morning haze sitting over Geelong is eerily lit by the refracted rays of the sun, and accentuated by the ND Grad Filter used with this shot. Taken with a Canon 5D. A 1.3sec exposure at f/16 with 22mm focal length.

Yesterday afternoon, Neil & I traveled to Blairgowrie on the Peninsula and met up with my mate Adam. We had a great time dodging waves on the shelves, it’s always a thrill! Sunset at Saltwick Bay, North Yorkshire.
From the earlier Crescent Head holiday. This shot was taken on a second day. The weather was very unsettled. We could see a big grey cloud coming our way but still decided to go scouting for the locations. Just before the rain. The wind was picking up and on the top of that drop was getting close to gail. Very hard for the long exposures, obviously. Only managed to get about 8 shots, and only one is not wrecked by camera shakes. Fast retreat after that, and got completely drenched by the time we got to the car. Didn’t have enough time to get to the same spot again in a better conditions. Thank you for looking! This was a particular significant sunrise for me. I left home at 1am, drove two hours and forty minutes to location, tried to get some sleep, walked about thirty minutes down a beach that I have never been to in the dark and set up for the sunrise. Got some very good photographs and was happy with my instinct to just go somewhere for a sunrise. The colours that a sunrise give, is to me very therapeutic, they warm one up from within. Forget about medication etc, get people involved in nature and see the difference.

Another image from my Fires of Mordor series Taken near Fyffes’ house, North Bay, Kaikoura, massive storm over head, not quite enough gap to let sunrise through, very powerful image none the less. Knee deep in the sea to get closer to the breaking wave, wearing my trusty fishing waders and rock bags on the tripod. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens, with Cokin ND8 grad filter. photomatrix and photoshop.
