  • Oddities by SauriaMami

For the longest time I thought these were some form of clay that’d eroded into tubes or were stained or something from metals…...or SOMETHING…....had no real idea what they were. / Finally I came across by accident while searching online about fossils and corals and such…found out that this was actually a type of fossilized sponge. / Amblysiphonella is it’s name…from the Pennsylvanian era of the Mid-West US / None of these are thicker around then my pinky finger….....they are very delicate and since I photographed THESE I’ve found a few that actually will show cross-section details of the actual coral structure….

  • Honeycomb by Travis Easton

Me and my buddy Chris walked for two days from Mallacoota in Victoria’s far east to get to this spot which is Cape Howe the coastal border between NSW and Victoria in Australia. Smack bang on the border is the shipwreck of the Iron Prince and a rapidly deteriorating border cairn. The area is surrounded by a flat dune field with a sea revealed rocky base. To our surprise there was quite a vigourous little spring nearby which if we realised how bad our water situation would be over the next few days we would of taken more advantage of. With all this at hand it was an obvious spot for an early lunch, while packing this up I finally noticed more of the macro landscape of our spot. ‘Honeycomb’ is a photo of the rock I sat on while eating my lunch. For more pictures of this area check out my Croajingolong gallery. For more shots like this check out my Textures gallery. 10% of all profits go to the Wilderness Society
